I mean, i get Frisk, but in a lot of aspects and interpretations, Chara is supposed to be a half-stand-in for the player, so... idk if dictating your headcannon (even if i agree it's indeniably canon) is exactly... fair...
@@cheatseychespin2792 I could argue with you all day and night about Chara not being an at-all-a-stand-in for the player in Undertale, but that's actually completely irrelevant here. This is not Undertale. Chara is the final boss, decidedly NOT anything-resembling-a-stand-in for the player. Additionally, this is Toadie's AU, and thus their "headcanon" is in fact canon--regardless of what the case may be for Undertale itself. This is their interpretation of Chara, and misgendering that interpretation remains a very rude thing to do. Also, yeah, Chara's pronouns being up to us in Undertale doesn't make sense. @jacketofdiamonds If you had actually paid any attention at all to what I said. i get that; my point is dictating interpretation of source material for something that, by Toby's omission, Chara as a whole is intentionally left open-ended, and UP TO individual interpretation, isn't cool. Doing it silently is one thing, but this is an active supression of an idea. And duder, i know Chara isn't a complete stand in, but they are supposed to be one just enough so the player can have selfreflection at the end of the two main routes about exherting their will onto others.

I’m just imagining that instead of it being a garden with a throne for asgore, it’s just an office like the one in the White House which would be hilarious to fight in.
i imagine in this Au Asgore and Toriel found away to peirce the barrier to beg humanity for freedom, I also imagine that it didn't go well, as they never returned. the responsibility of power fell on both Chara and Asriel, not sure who should be leader, they held an election. Asriel ran with the promise of prosperity and piece with humanity. but Chara impulsively promised humanity's destruction and revenge for the fallen monarches. Monster kind was rightfully angery for what happened to their beloved king and queen, so despite being human and not even the monarchs biological child. Chara won with a near-unanimous vote. Many years later Chara is older and more wise. they have come to relise how impolseive their intent to destroy Humanity was. but they belive that they can't go back on it, they represent hope for monster-kinds future. so how could they deny monster kind what they've earned.

Imagine falling into the underground and then somehow managing to become the ruler despite humans sealing monsters underground must be either really well liked or a dictator
oooohh these songs are so good !! chara’s outfit also rocks. this song made me start thinking about a non-swap/shift au with chara as ruler of the underground and (maybe) asriel as the caretaker of the ruins. it’s no unlikely toriel and asgore are dead if this takes place during undertale and an au like this could cover asriel and chara’s expectations they’ve had put on them, by themselves or by others and could be really interesting. also if you can save/load then it could be explored what makes you more determined than chara, or why they may have lost hope. another reason could maybe be that their determination has been extracted somehow or something was done to make them less determined, maybe more similar to monsters and whatever was got out of that process has been used to extend their lifespan
I love the idea that Chara wears Groucho glasses whenever they do anything public and one pacifist ending has you start a coup by bringing people to the fight and knocking the glasses off.
This sounds... Strangely joyful for ASGORE. As if Chara DOES want to kill humans, which would be in-character for them. Not killing to free everyone, but killing because they enjoy it.
Actually the intent was that it was a bit more on the bittersweet side for the exact reason you rejected lol Chara here definitely doesn't WANT to be doing this but they're trying to look at the bright side, confident that they'll bring salvation to the monsters of the Underground so they can finally see the Surface again.
Yeah… I don’t hear what you’re hearing. It sounds hopeful yeah, but not joyful. It does not at all sound like a theme for a Chara that _enjoys_ killing humans. Like asgore before them, this theme sounds like the theme of person who doesn’t _want_ to fight you, but feels like they *have* to.
Here’s a third interpretation that I think would be more accurate to the theme of the song. This is the theme of a human leader for the monsters, who is determined to do anything to save the monsters that have treated them kindly. They have long cast away their doubts and qualms against slaying their own kind for the sake of destroying the BARRIER. Or is it? When you listen on the flute and piano bridges, you notice that their resolve is not as iron-clad as either side believes. Chara knows that the human is a good person who wants the best for monster-kind too. Even the An Ending leitmotifs in the song, hint towards the fact that Chara sincerely wishes that they didn’t have to fight to the death, that there is another resolution to this matter. But Chara knows the suffering of the monsters deeper than the human does… *And they’ll do anything to put an end to it, for not a moment longer, it should continue.*
notice how the motifs throughout Determination slowly get less and less happy as the song progresses. first the flute from undertale (joyful), then the menu theme (happy but sorta neutral), then reunited (happy yet solemn), then his theme (homely, nostalgic, and a bit bittersweet), then respite (VERY bittersweet now), and finally a section of baath (heroic, but sad).
To build on what the other commenters are saying, this isn't a Chara who takes pride in what they're doing, it's a Chara who is entirely convinced that what they're doing is just. To Chara, this is a case of one life versus many lives. It's a trolley problem, in a sense, and Chara has already made up their mind. They will pull the lever, not because they like to see people die, but because they have already decided what the best option is. The big difference between Asgore and Chara is that Chara has no regrets. While Asgore will hide within himself, cast his gaze to the floor, and try not to fully acknowledge to himself what he is doing, Chara will stare you straight in the eyes as they reroute the trolley onto your track.
I don't know if this intentional but Chara's face during the battle has a similar illusion that the original Asgore sprite did where it is the person's face in shadow but it also looks like a large creepy smile.
I'm gonna be honest, the combination of dual knives and official attire makes them look kinda goofy. I want to clarify that I am trying to give conscructive criticism. With that, the knife in their left hand being held backwards is unpractical and makes them look defenseless, and the other knife being in a constant raised-ready-to-stab pose also makes little sense, assuming this is the idle sprite. If I were to change this(which, I admittedly couldn't, as I have the art skills of expired salt) I'd just change the poses of the arms to get the lower one into a stab-ready position and have the upper one in a defensive position, ready to block(even if it isn't a mechanic, it would make them look more dangerous, and like they know what they're doing.) Nice song though. I had thought of the line "Don't fuck with this ambassador!" before, but this is also cool.
Considering Frisk is one of the characters who took Toriel's role alongside Asriel, I love how people decided that Reunited is their leitmotif as shown here
If this were to be ShiftShift, it would only make sense to have this kind of arrangement: Flowey's mind: Alphys Vengeful first fallen: Undyne Ruins guardian: Asriel Underground's chief: Chara Flamboyant wanting-to-be Royal Guard: Napstablook Royal Judge: Happstablook Royal Guard Captain: Papyrus (at long last) Royal Scientist: Sans Timid ghost: Asgore The Underground's star: Toriel (What have we done.) The being you train on in the Ruins: River person The out-of-mind assassin: Gaster The river boater: The mannequin (most likely it's automated) The being that speaks in hands: Mad Dummy
(some geno text idea) "Human." "Seems you finally arrived." "Althought i suppose your name is frisk." "Your name has been heard quite a lot around here." "most of the monsters saw you as their hero. Most of them as their saviour." "..." "..." *"Its that why you killed my brother asriel?"* "Ha. You do have a soul. But." *"You have no soul for me."* "Ahem........... let's start." "I, chara Dreemurr declare you..." *"GUILTY."*
The one in control really sounds triumphant It really shows that chara is willing to shank a kid for monsterkind What else would you do in this situation?
Bergentrückung is a Germanic mythological motif that describes the disappearance of heroes or rulers into a mountain, where they remain until they return to reclaim their land from enemies or the Antichrist. This concept is rooted in European folklore, with varying degrees of expression across different cultures. In the context of Undertale, the term Bergentrückung is used to describe Asgore, the king of monsters trapped under Mt. Ebott. This correlates with the literal meaning of Bergentrückung, "Mountain Rapture," and reinforces the game's themes of underground realms and hidden histories. In literature and mythology, Bergentrückung is often associated with the idea of people disappearing from the human world without dying, only to live on in the underworld. This motif has been documented in various European cultures, including Germanic and Slavic traditions. In summary, Bergentrückung is a mythological concept that describes the disappearance of heroes or rulers into a mountain, with connections to European folklore and the Undertale narrative.
Hey, Toadie, you're a little harsh if someone misgender Chara and Frisk. I understand it might be annoying, but I wanted to mention just in case that not all languages have gender-neutral forms, so some people might be mistaken because in their language, they use the masculine form in neutral contexts and just think that way even in English or if they're not that good in English and need to use a translator. Also, great music, good job.
To add onto your comment in many languages Chara and Frisk have to be either male or female, you don't have a third option like you would in, let's say Japanese language, or plethora of weird English-only options. Please understand non-americans, they do the best they can with what they've got.
You are correct that not all languages have gender neutral pronouns or use he/him as the default (and most people I've seen use she/her for Chara which is less likely a language barrier issue!), and I fully understand and respect that. I have, however, specified right here the pronouns that are acceptable to use for Frisk and Chara. It'd be unreasonable to say "don't misgender Frisk/Chara/etc." and refuse to elaborate what their actual pronouns are, but that is not the case. (And if they choose not to read the description? That's their own fault.) This is a decision I've made for the sake of my own mental health, as I do not want to have to correct (or in some cases debate) everyone every time it happens. I know it's not always out of malice but I think it's entirely reasonable to set these boundaries and to stick by them.
Also, I think I can say from personal experience that it's not _just_ annoying and can often times feel very hurtful, no matter the intent (and no matter who it's directed at).
@dashingtoadie thanks for defending your choice of erasing comments here, I think it helps people feel more comfortable in this case, specially since your deleting only the hurtful ones ( aka: misgendering an character that is explicity said to use certain pronouns )
@@dashingtoadie Actually it is possible that in some languages, people use she/her for Chara, because for example in Polish names ending with "a" are usually feminine. But I think it's mostly because of the community, since there's a lot of fanart portraying Chara as a girl. I don't mean anything bad, I understand misgendering can be hurtful. I just feel bad about someone who will had their comment deleted because they accidentally assigned the wrong gender to a character, they might feel sad about it. But I understand it's for your comfort, I'm don't wanna argue with you about deleting comments. I just wanted to make sure you know that sometimes it might be unintentional. And if I ever misgender anyone or any character, I apologize in advance, it probably means I was tired when I wrote the comment or rushed while typing and didn't notice.

In the original Undertale, Chara was seen as a sign of hope for monster kind. Its not at all far-fetched to assume they'd be elected as president.
oooohh these songs are so good !!
chara’s outfit also rocks. this song made me start thinking about a non-swap/shift au with chara as ruler of the underground and (maybe) asriel as the caretaker of the ruins. it’s no unlikely toriel and asgore are dead if this takes place during undertale and an au like this could cover asriel and chara’s expectations they’ve had put on them, by themselves or by others and could be really interesting. also if you can save/load then it could be explored what makes you more determined than chara, or why they may have lost hope. another reason could maybe be that their determination has been extracted somehow or something was done to make them less determined, maybe more similar to monsters and whatever was got out of that process has been used to extend their lifespan
OMG wait does this mean the reverse AU of this says "Asgore." when you kill everyone
"* You are filled with Asgore."
you are filled with fingers
@@genericgamer1131🤨
@@genericgamer1131 That sounds dirty or that could mean you ate asgore
The real "Shiftshift" Au UST...
Just... Perfection
This feels like Chara is going to punish all of humanity for the way they treated them.
POV: You stole Chara's chocolate and now they're pissed
and also president
God this is an absolute banger, and it’s actually creative unlike most Chara themes.
chara got elected for president!!!!!!
yippie!
Why the hell does this hit harder than any Chara song using Megalo Strike Back?!
i like this a lot!! first time ive seen someone make 'chara leitmotifs' be something that's not one of the megalos
with the first note I thought it was gonna be different 💀
Oh President Dreemur...
love the song, and now im intersection in the AU, earned a sub definitely cant wait to hear more of your music.
OOH I thought I was the only one who had an AU idea with Chara replacing Asgore
How many times the mercy button has to suffer from whoever is taking Asgore's place?
*I wish you a pleasant afterlife partner.
*Goodbye.
Yee-haw
chara with glasses is a nice choice
I love the idea that Chara wears Groucho glasses whenever they do anything public and one pacifist ending has you start a coup by bringing people to the fight and knocking the glasses off.
"I wish we could eat chocolate, but alas. it has to be this way, dear monster. Im sorry, little one"
dude, I love the one in ontrol becuase of the use of the intro and main theme song not being a meglo strike back remix!
I would love to see the au where humans lost the war instead of monsters
isn't that just OVERTALE? (idk the lore pls don't hurt me)
Woah that would be really cool!!
Damn Chara got some insane drip
This sounds... Strangely joyful for ASGORE. As if Chara DOES want to kill humans, which would be in-character for them. Not killing to free everyone, but killing because they enjoy it.
Actually the intent was that it was a bit more on the bittersweet side for the exact reason you rejected lol
Chara here definitely doesn't WANT to be doing this but they're trying to look at the bright side, confident that they'll bring salvation to the monsters of the Underground so they can finally see the Surface again.
But Chara knows the suffering of the monsters deeper than the human does…
*And they’ll do anything to put an end to it, for not a moment longer, it should continue.*
notice how the motifs throughout Determination slowly get less and less happy as the song progresses.
first the flute from undertale (joyful), then the menu theme (happy but sorta neutral), then reunited (happy yet solemn), then his theme (homely, nostalgic, and a bit bittersweet), then respite (VERY bittersweet now), and finally a section of baath (heroic, but sad).
I love Nonbiney Dictator Chara. I love the design. It just looks goofy, imposing, and nonbiney in equal parts.
Looks female to me
Groovy 1:14 now thats sick as heck
Edit: this could also be canon for chara's theme
Also its Groovy Here Too 4:00
I'm gonna be honest, the combination of dual knives and official attire makes them look kinda goofy. I want to clarify that I am trying to give conscructive criticism. With that, the knife in their left hand being held backwards is unpractical and makes them look defenseless, and the other knife being in a constant raised-ready-to-stab pose also makes little sense, assuming this is the idle sprite. If I were to change this(which, I admittedly couldn't, as I have the art skills of expired salt) I'd just change the poses of the arms to get the lower one into a stab-ready position and have the upper one in a defensive position, ready to block(even if it isn't a mechanic, it would make them look more dangerous, and like they know what they're doing.)
Nice song though. I had thought of the line "Don't fuck with this ambassador!" before, but this is also cool.
i see what you mean with the knives but I kinda like the official attire
@@gremlin2239 Yeah I do too, but either a different weapon or a single knife would be better suited IMO
undertale's always been really goofy with things like that, so to me personally it kinda fits in weird way.
I mean it's a kid
@@lindatory1886 I'd presume Chara is an adult here if they're the goddamn president
Average Megalovania/Megalo Strike Back is Charas theme fan vs Average Once Upon a Time is Charas theme enjoyer
"the one in control" sounds tragic (not the name, the song itself)
Impressive sprite work for that character 👍
Here it is...
Finally
It's better if the first part is named: Die Einzige in Kontrolle. That's the German version and it fits more because the original is also German.
Just because the original is in German doesn't mean any other things inspired by it have to be named accordingly.
big fan of how the last few notes that use Last Goodbye work with the loop
Considering Frisk is one of the characters who took Toriel's role alongside Asriel, I love how people decided that Reunited is their leitmotif as shown here
honestly kinda surprised final power didn't make an appearance here somewhere even if it was just in the bass or something
When the his theme leitmotif came on i was doing it at the same time
this is fire tho
*Frisk would like to talk but they have no voice.
If this were to be ShiftShift, it would only make sense to have this kind of arrangement:
Flowey's mind: Alphys
Vengeful first fallen: Undyne
Ruins guardian: Asriel
Underground's chief: Chara
Flamboyant wanting-to-be Royal Guard: Napstablook
Royal Judge: Happstablook
Royal Guard Captain: Papyrus (at long last)
Royal Scientist: Sans
Timid ghost: Asgore
The Underground's star: Toriel (What have we done.)
The being you train on in the Ruins: River person
The out-of-mind assassin: Gaster
The river boater: The mannequin (most likely it's automated)
The being that speaks in hands: Mad Dummy
(some geno text idea)
"Human."
"Seems you finally arrived."
"Althought i suppose your name is frisk."
"Your name has been heard quite a lot around here."
"most of the monsters saw you as their hero. Most of them as their saviour."
"..."
"..."
*"Its that why you killed my brother asriel?"*
"Ha. You do have a soul. But."
*"You have no soul for me."*
"Ahem........... let's start."
"I, chara Dreemurr declare you..."
*"GUILTY."*
this sounds like undertale ost 71 (undertale the song) but if it was a battle theme
very cool
i wish to make a fangame with it
Chara looks like an elementary school teacher

That's Respite, actually
@@dashingtoadie that's the joke, because it's an Undertale song but it sounds very similar to Minecraft
The one in control really sounds triumphant
It really shows that chara is willing to shank a kid for monsterkind
What else would you do in this situation?

* Frisk.. WHERE DID YOU PUT THE FUCKING CHOCOLA-
Hey, Toadie, you're a little harsh if someone misgender Chara and Frisk.
That's their own fault.)
This is a decision I've made for the sake of my own mental health, as I do not want to have to correct (or in some cases debate) everyone every time it happens.
And if I ever misgender anyone or any character, I apologize in advance, it probably means I was tired when I wrote the comment or rushed while typing and didn't notice.
chara gets assassinated (20XX)
