New China Town out in Box hill is one of 21st century Melbourne's great treasures. Why am I not surprised that Thomas and Sheena with young Zadie in tow are leading the charge into the frontiers of Melbourne food culture? Oh, and having young Zadie gazing up longingly at the fare on offering is something new on RUclips. Keeping this fresh as joyful without getting into the child exploration we often see is a challenge before you. I have every confidence you two will get this right
I grew up a few suburbs away from Box Hill. It's definitely changed in the last 30 years 😂! We used to go always go Thien Dat Vietnamese restaurant and then followed with a visit to The Cookie Man for bickies. ❤❤
I bet it has! It’s such a vibrant Center now. Those bickies sound delicious 🤤 thanks for sharing your food memories. Hope you enjoyed the video! Cheers, Sheena
Best places to eat in Box Hill Land Kitchen for breakfast and lunch and yum cha East Doncaster Yummy king. 2 of the most underrated places in Melbourne.
We actually walked past Land Kitchen after filming and both remarked that it looked worth checking out next time 😍 thanks for the recommendations! Cheers, Sheena
@@ChasingaPlate Land Kitchen make Cheung Fun to order. Its soooo good. Plus their stick rice wrap in lotus leaf is so traditional and its like my grandmas recipe from 20 years ago. Yummy king in East Doncaster is run by Grandmas and Grandpas, waitstaff and kitchen. Cheapest yum cha in Melbourne and taste like 1990s at its best. Cost around $22 a head. Cantonese food dying all over Australia, these are the two hidden gems in Melbourne.
Omgosh the dumplings with soup looked devine... great note poke the hole to let out the steam👍 got it lol thankyou for showcasing eats in Melbs love it and you guys 💞💞
Ooh thank you guys for showing us this, I am definitely going to go and get a strawberry skewer from that store if I can find it! I bought a tea from one of the tea shops there when it was really busy, and I can’t quite remember what it was, but they ran out of something while they were making my tea, and called me over to ask if they could put cheese in my tea instead. So I accidentally ended up with an iced matcha with cheese. I want to try the fruit salad one someday
So glad you enjoyed it mate! We love heading out there for a feed- we ate so well 😍 hope you can make it out there soon. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Sheena
You guys are killing me,I’m trying to drop some kilos! I’m missing this so much…….I’m compelled to keep watching, can’t click off. So good listening to you speak in Cantonese Sheena…..feeling homely. We’ve definitely don’t have any of these dishes in Newcastle . Awesome you guys
😆😝😝😆 sorry to give you cravings mate! It was such a fun video to film- got to eat so many of our favourite things and also practise my Cantonese 😝 Thanks for watching mate. Cheers, Sheena
Welcome to Bokkers! One of the things I love about the BHC Food hall is that so much of the food is so close to how you find it in China; things that are not quite sweet, but not quite savoury. So many great choices you made (though I apologise for the weather!)
Thanks for watching 😄 We had the best time eating there- wish we could have fit in more! Hope you enjoy your time out there when you make it! Cheers, Sheena
Oh, lordy....a Chinese feast day. At least I did it right this time...I have food right beside me as I watch. Mexican, not Chinese, but a couple of juicy beef enchiladas with rice and beans will keep me from drowning in saliva. The soup looks like just the thing for a chilly day, and the soup dumplings sound perfect, with thin skins and abundant fillings. What a great food mall you found!
Next time yous are in Melbourne I would suggest yous visit ms Kims restaurant in Williamstown. It’s Vietnamese based and sooo delicious. She was a grand finalist on MKR 2018. She has great food!!! Fresh and light but it is filling
The last time I went to Grain was more than 20 years ago - I've got to go back! Box Hill looks more happening than China Town these days. There's also great places on Carrington St (try Indochine if you like Vietnamese) and Main St. Glen Waverley is also pretty good for Asian food - heaps of places in the shopping centre, streets around the train station and the new part of The Glen. If you like Filipino food, head out to the western suburbs. Finally, you've got to try this place called Katsuhon on Little Collins St (there's another more viral place) but this one is amazing and not crowded (until you post about it!) :) Get the cheese pork katsu and fresh yuzu tea.
Delicious recommendations Catherine! Thanks for that! Would love to explore Glen Waverley the next time we’re in town- we’ve barely scratched the surface of the city- can’t wait to get back. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy what we have coming up! Cheers, Sheena
Thanks for the recommendation 😍 I loved Grain Asia- would love to sample more of the menu next time. Haha I’m very out of practice with my language- must get back, eat and practise my Cantonese more I reckon. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
After seeing all that super tasty food I tried transporting myself there. It didn't work. Now I got a headache and starving😭😭😭😭😭 As always superb vlog of food finds.
Hi Joanne, not sure what you are insinuating by asking this or if you are genuinely asking if Thomas looks after Zadie. Either way, all I can say is that of course he does. Thomas is an incredible Dad- 1000% in it, Zadie is very lucky to have him and I couldn’t ask for a better person by my side to help navigate this crazy journey that is parenting. Cheers, Sheena

Such a cool spot isn’t it! So much to eat and explore. We really enjoyed our day filming there. Thanks heaps for watching. Cheers, Thomas
One day Box Hill is going to be like Sydney's Parramatta, a 2nd CBD. When the Suburban Rail Loop opens it will be huge
It’s a great suburb for eating that’s for sure! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
Very nice guys, I haven't been to Boxhill in years will definitely be checking that one out next opportunity :)
Thanks for watching 😄 We had the best time eating there- wish we could have fit in more! Hope you enjoy your time out there when you make it! Cheers, Sheena

Baby so cute.
Haha thanks mate. Thomas
Oh man , I haven't been to Grain Asia in forever, I think something like 20 years. Was always my go to for yong tofu.
It’s so good. Hope you get a chance to return one day soon. Thanks for watching. Thomas
You should try out the Paramount Food Court at the top of Little Bourke St. It's an old style food court with very good cheap food.
No That Worse Food ..
I’d forgotten about that place! Didn’t go in at all this trip. Thanks heaps for the reminder. Cheers, Thomas
Thanks for sharing

Indochine has really gone down hill. Pho Huong Viet (on Whitehorse Rd just outside the mall) is better

good to see a HK egg tart with layer filo pastry in Melbourne
It was such a good one too. Loved that place. Thanks for watching. Thomas
Hey Sheena, your Cantonese came in handy in Box Hill. Grain Asia is one of my favourite. Next time you are in Melbourne, do try Colourful Yanan.
Thanks for the recommendation 😍 I loved Grain Asia- would love to sample more of the menu next time. Haha I’m very out of practice with my language- must get back, eat and practise my Cantonese more I reckon. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
You must try Vietnamese and Chinese food in Springvale!!!
Would have loved to have gotten out to film in Springvale- next time for sure! Thanks for watching Andrea. Cheers, Sheena

You have to go glen Waverley the best restaurants and food I miss it so much!
Would totally love to explore that area more! Thanks for watching this one, hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena

A shopping centre and good food are not terms I'd use together. Only in Melbourne would shopping centre food be good food as well :)
Right?! There was honestly a tonne more to eat and drink as well! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
nice

i just can't pick a favorite
Winner of a day! Thanks heaps for watching this one mate. Thomas
