  • Let's talk about being on call. Being on call is one of the dreadful things about the job. Every perfusionist has to take on this responsibility. When you are on call, you are the one that gets called, along with the rest of the cardiac team, if there is a cardiac emergency.

    Sounds like on call can get tricky. Is the team friendly?

    How demanding would you say your job is for your hospital? And is your hospital a level 1 or 2 trauma center?

      At my hospital, my job isn't that demanding. When you are on call though, it can get more demanding. My hospital is a level 1 hospital.

      @@perfusionlifestyle okay, nice. Thank you. I figured that a level 1 would be super demanding all the time, so that’s good to know.

      I’m not sure how your nursing degree would transfer. You may have to do your schooling all over again in the US. I’m not 100% sure though.

    how does on call work when you are at home for example? i mean do you need to be at the hospital how many minutes after they call you? sorry, sounds ignorant from someone not aware of how hospital employee works..

      Yep. You got it. When you are at home and get called on for an emergency, you have anywhere from 30mins- 1 hr (this time is hospital dependent) to get to the hospital.

    Does anyone ever do more than a week of call per month? Or pick it up if someone chooses to use vacation time?

    • @perfusionlifestyle
      @perfusionlifestyle  Год назад +2

      You can definitely do more then one week of call per month. It really all depends on how many perfusionist there are. I do more then one week some months and that’s all based on going around my coworkers vacation time as you mentioned.

      @@perfusionlifestyle Oh ok! Thank you for responding. I’m currently shadowing several Perfusionists in Arizona and they relay a similar message.
