  • There are a few schedules to think about when wanting to become a perfusionist. They are as follows:
    1.) Fulltime
    2.) Part-time
    3.) Per Diem
    4.) Travel/contract
You must pick a schedule that fits your lifestyle.

Thank you for this. My Uncle is a Perfusionist since I was a child and always said he loved his job. Now, he’s happily retired in his early 50s and owns a perfusion machine company that hospitals buy/rent the machines from. He’s out here living his best life! 🎉😊

I spoke to my perfusion director at my job, and he basically said I have to quit my job to go to perfusion school. I can't afford to quit my job so there goes my perfusion career.

This is true. You cannot have a full time job in perfusion school. If you are really serious about going to perfusion school, I would recommend just applying for enough student loans to cover your living expenses/bills.

@perfusionlifestyle I was thinking about doing this. I am a doctor of physical therapy, and would like to be a perfusionist. I see people in their mid 40s going to med school, so I would think going back to school for this would be possible. Any advice is apprwciated?

What if you don't have a good GPA but your experience is stellar?

Also, I was state prn and part time you would probably want/need full time experience under your feet before you do that. Gotta get some salt on you first!

what did you study/do before to get accepted into the program?! I know they’re insanely competitive but i really really am interested in this career.

I majored in Biology in undergrad. I also went to grad school and majored in biomedical sciences. I did not have a job in the medical field before going into perfusion school. Nowadays because perfusion school is so competitive, you almost have to have some sort of medical background.

Girly like if a travel perfusionist work a week bw two contracted hospitals then they might earn 11000$ right? From both sides. Half half prices.?

I doubt it but I don’t have any experience as a travel perfusionist.

Hello. Tell me please. What is the chance of enrolling in a perfusionist program with a foreign doctor? After looking at the information, I saw that a small number of students were being recruited for the perfusionist program. Perhaps Americans have a better chance of getting into the program.
I have extensive experience in emergency medicine.
    Thank you.
