- Bioshock Infinite Review 2022. Bioshock Infinite is perhaps one of the most popular games of the 2010's. But it departed significantly from its predecessors. In this video, I argue that Bioshock Infinite is a game that is much shallower than its forebears - particularly Bioshock One. Bioshock Infinite Review 2022. Bioshock Infinite 9 Years Later.

Yeah. This just scratches the surface of what's wrong with Infinite. The simplified gameplay, basically making it Call of Duty with magic. The structured encounters for *every* fight, rather than at least somewhat random encounters. The plot holes from hell, probably due to them cutting so much content. I forget who it was, but someone else made a video on this describing why so many people thought it was a masterpiece back on release, and why so many people are only now seeing the issues. The game distracts you with bright flashy lights, and makes you think you understand everything completely, but upon returning you look past the lights and see the game for how it truly is.
Yeah I hated the structured battlegrounds, really took away the players freedom
@@biggusdickus4142 Yeah. The originals felt like you could piece together every encounter between different weapons and plasmids, this one felt like you were meant to use specific things at specific times and flow the way the game wanted you do.
At least cod has smooth gunplay
look, the twist wasn't even that good and didn't make sense at all if you think about it for more than two seconds.
This was over way too soon!
Bro i thought youlled never be back.
He's only been gone for 4 months. There are people I'm subscribed to who haven't set let out a video in years.
@@markcrawford5810 it was just ment as a silly joke
Welcome back Avarti! I missed your style of video game lore dissections.
The return of the king.
Good to have you back dude.
Honestly if They never discovered Adam, rapture wouldn’t rapidly decay but The Civil War would still remain.🐱
Love the series :')
All 3 games have a special place in my heart
2 and 3 were total dogshit. Try prey, much better shock game.
I played the trilogy finally and Infinite just didn't do it for me. It focused far too much on combat. Combat that actually took many steps backed. Columbia is no where near as compelling as Rapture nor is the narrative half as interesting or sensible. I just did not care about anything that was going on.
Would you cover Bioshock 2?
Haven't played it yet, but perhaps in the future!
@@AvartiPlaysGames thak you kind sir
Oh hi there,welcome back
My 2 main problems is that 1 the story as it went on didn’t make any fucking sense, I think I was relatively close to the end but I quit because I didn’t know what the fuck was going on. And 2 the powers are lame, almost never used them, got through most of the game with just guns. Whilst in the first game I used them all the time, because they were useful and fun.
My problem with infinite is less so "the underlying philosophy is worse than Bioshock 1's" (which is also true!) but more "the main character's plotline with time magic makes no fucking sense, also the ocean is cooler than the sky".
Burial at see expansion explains half of it (spoilers!)... Fitzroy was a puppet of the twins, they sold her the revolution "dream" in exchange for her life (part 2, moral: revolution is just a game of politics and doesn't have any winner)... They are basically trapped in a cycle (hence the name of the name, moral: we don't have a choice so might as well act like we have)... It's Elizabeth who frees Atlas leading to Bioshock in her campaign to "kill all the Comstocks" (moral: killing everybody is good if you free them from agony? xD)... Almost EVERYTHING in the series was explained by Infinite... After having the Burial at Sea expansions it's kinda too fast to judge the game at "2022"... Actually, I think the founding philosophy of Colombia is somewhat more realistic as religious totalitarian countries under the rule of a self-proclaimed prophet figure are not that much of a myth... *coughs* It explores "why" they are the way they are and they are never the loser in our world even if they are thrown, they will remain heroes for they are the writers of the history (I just hate that the moral of story is "revenge bad" in the eyes of Elizabeth but still like really doesn't explain Elizabeth as she is)... Just as Bioshock explained why such ideas of a "free" city will fail (which was explored like infinite times before) (also again related to dictatorship of a "self-sustainer mindset").
He has returned! Missed hearing ya voice man.
i hated the ending to this game so much. i hated that no matter what all version of comstock is evil in all version . when you think about how you play it . the verison your playing is more good then evil . i found it to be really stupid and elizabeth end up becoming what she hated and i just found that stupid too with how she keep going on about only he is the evil one . feel so lacking and just not as good as a story.
The word "infinite" in the phrase infinite universes doesn't seem to have fully taken root in the characters' minds as to what that actually means.
You have a point.
Bioshock 1 is incredible in every aspect. It is special for me.
But i must say that Infinite is more beautiful to look at and the gameplay is so much smoother. Also it is a Levine's creation and we know that this means wonderful dialogue/sound design and unforgettable audiologs and situation.
I wouldn't really say that it tries to hit the player over the head with a history book or any history really, because the way America and its history are represented in the game is so severely warped and subverted that it is really more of a caricature and/or fantasy than any serious commentary on how things actually were or did happen.
It is basically indistinguishable from a propaganda piece in that regard and might as well be considered one, if you assume the motive wasn't to just entertain the player, but to shape their opinion and thoughts.
*"The original Bioshock was groundbreaking"*
System Shock 2: Am I a joke to you??
🥺🥺🥺you back
Welcome back avarti it’s been awhile we’ve missed your videos, I love infinite but does feel like it’s lacking something and when you see videos of the cut content it’s regrettable we never got it
My issue with Infinite's story is that it escalates and ends in like 5 minutes. Barely explaining what happened... I'm a loreaholic (if that's a word) and even with getting every hint, every audio log, every kinetoscope, the world doesn't feel fleshed out and the plot (specially the twins) feels rather unexplained... And don't get me started on Columbia 😖 Rapture was the brainchild of some libertarian ideals, it made sense as a whole and on individual details. Columbia seems like the vision of a leftist trying to display what a right wing society looks like. It's quite cartoonish...
Avarti video LETS GO
A lot of the content was also cut because the PS3 and XBOX 360 couldn’t handle it. It was too long and ambitious for the old systems it came out on. I think Infinite is good but with it’s deleted content leading to a less interesting world and plot, we missed out on a potential masterpiece.
Bruh you trippin, this game was great
When it released I disliked infinite much more because it was sandwiched between TLOU and GTA V. I recently played it again for the first time since launch and I found it much more enjoyable, although I agree it’s not at bioshock 1 levels.
If only the bioshock 1 remaster got rid of those stupid hacking puzzles smh
I believe, bioshock infinite aged very well!
At first, at release, i couldn't vibe with it at all, now I can't let my hands of it.
I hope one day we get another bioshock, with a whole new idea.
missed u man
Was supposed to be 6 times bigger? Sheesh. Wonder how much better it would have been
Glad to see you back! Now we just need theepicnate to come back
He's the skyrim guy right?
he's BACK!!
I'm glad I didn't play this game.
I'm Spanish and I've spoke English since I'm a kid, but BRO, your lexic use truely overlwhelms me...
BIoshock Infinite is a painful stake of shame forever left into Bioshock's legacy. How to you turn a brilliant game into surface level rollercoaster? It' s not just that it' s so bad, but final DLC was a finishing blow, forever tarnishing the series.
Where's infinite
& he has returned
I love B2 and Infinite.Though can't play B1- the game is unplayable on win10:(
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers
Its really ironic that game is about how something would be really diffrent if one little thing was changed and then how diffrent this game would be
You can make hours long videos about this lol
welcome back! we missed you! :)
Those skylines was the most irritating things in game.
Oeh i love me some extremely late game analysis
Call me the weirdo but I was bored to death playing the 1st & only went back to finish it a year later. I never even tried the other bioshocks after that.
Hey glad your back!
There's a lot wrong with infinite. But when it comes to just the story, it felt unfocused and the pacing was all over the place at the halfway point of the game and onward. It took me too long to realize what the game was actually about because of these things. I just stopped getting invested and felt confused.
It was still a pretty solid game but yeah, no where near a masterpiece.
Is it strange I like this game a lot more than Bioshock 1?
@@chaoskong2987
Nah man. If you like it more than the first game more power to you. Things that some people may not like about it may just not bother you as much. And that's perfectly fine.
I'm glad I didn't play this game.
I loved bioshock 1 and liked 2s take a lot. 1 is one of my favorites of all time. Along w original fable. 3 I hated. The story was bad the characters I felt no investment in. And everything was so bright and sunny nothing had that creeping sense of dread. A massive disappointment. Worse then the fable sequels. I NEVER finished 3 because I hated it when it was released.
Agree with all points. But just to correct that the cut content was cut not to get the game out of the door but because the creative director is a known perfectionist to a stubborn fault. It not only killed the game but also Irrational Games as a company
