Why should he feel ashamed? He's a hero in my book.He did nothing to feel ashamed about. They say the good die young, and i bet he isn't up there feeling sorry for himself. He will be watching over his family and being a comfort to all those that come up behind him.The world needs more people like Steven Stayner.
What a cruel fate for Steven to be rescued and returned to his family only to die a few years later.
timothy white, the boy he saved died at age 35 of a pulmonary embolism. there's truly an aura of darkness around this whole thing
Penguin Pie Right? I don't get why this Monster Parnell had a longer life than Steven and Timmy put together. He was worthless while they had a lot to offer the world. Life is so strange
God bless him
It doesn't take a "savant"as one guy in this video put it, to realize that the grown man staring at your teenage daughter, while she's swimming, is creepy.
Exactly. Wrong use of that word.
Why did they show so little from his wife, but so much from someone that was merely an ex girlfriend?
sliat1981 exactly wtf
I was thinking the same thing. His wife is beautiful.
She may not have wanted to participate in the documentary...
kissofshadows21 then why is she interviewed but only shown a small bit of, while they dedicate so much to his ex?
@@sliat1981 - There's no way to know for sure, but she could have requested that her and her children's involvement be kept to a minimum to protect their privacy.
The guy that made it his point to say oh he was riding his bike with no license.?!? So what he was hit and killed. License or none it was tragic. Like having no license made the accident his fault.
Exactly.
Honestly. I think he said that so we would think that he got arrested or something happened between him and the authorities because he got me there. I wasn't expecting to hear that Steven died
Right + there are lots of people who has a license but from their lousy riding it seems like they don't have it.
What a handsome man Stephen was, such a tragic life and death.
I feel for all of the victims. Parnell destroyed many.
The whole episode is on hulu under ABC 20/20 S41 E21 Evil in Eden!
Thank you ❤
THANK YOU!!!
Thank you!!!!!😀
We (or least I) am watching this on RUclips because I don't have Hulu.
Well what for us outside US?
Yeah, uh part 5? I feel I invested some time in watching this for there not to be an end.
Part 5!???? I need closer
Same here...
I’m late to the game but they have a 20/20 podcast just released with the same name. Hope it helps
@@schingh1973 thanks, Stacey! I’ll check it out!
In a way it's very good that Steven passed away before he found out what his brother ended up doing. That would have probably crushed him.
An early grave is never "very good".
Carrie Ann: What a stupid thing to say
Timmy White was one of his pallbearers
sliat1981 😢
I believe Timmy died a few years back.. 2011 or 2012... Something like that
@@joejones9729 2010
@@joshuamendez4310 yea sounds about right. I remember reading a news article about it.. So yea that sounds right
Carry had his chance to seek help. He refused it. No sympathy.
It's more to the story on their parents... You can even tell when Steven was speaking on his life back with their parents; you can tell he wanted to say more (& yes I know it was partially due to the change) but his mom answering the question as he as spoke volumes & for the parents to turn cold against the children that they were already aloof to once Steven went missing... just tragic & sad
Grrr! Part 5?
Carrie was so overlooked. Silent cries for help, never acknowledged. Pulling out his hair earlier on in life is a big sign of intrinsic psychological issues and torment. Used to do it myself. Has a name: Trichotillomania.
How did you stop?🥺
one of the people being interviewed said that when Steven played the part of the cop in the movie, he made money and that he blew all that money on alcohol, cars, drugs - and then it is described that LATER he met his wife and settled down, had 2 kids. However, when the movie was being made, he was ALREADY a husband and father (according to the Hulu documentary series currently on called Captive Audience) - so I think the timelines might be incorrect with some of the info being shared?
He was married with 2 kids by age 17 or 18.
@@vatricegeorge that’s what I am referring to. I know he had kids and was married so young - so when they described him as making and blowing that money and they LATER meeting the wife - it seems to be a contradiction
Wow, Steven was the only normal one in that family
You can't say that Cary went through alit as a kid so it no fair to say that because he never got any help parents was distance from him how the hell ppl here him say he having dream to kill and no one did anything it sad in a show it sad at age 7 he's having dream of killing but no one cared the parent to busy only about Steven not one care to the older son who was close to Steven
So that evil monster Parnell outlived Steven in the end… absolutely unbelievable
Even Timothy White, the 5 year old that Steven rescued, grew up to become a husband, father of two, worked as a Deputy for Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, but then died so young at just 35 from a pulmonary embolism. It’s cruel that they strived to live normal lives after all they had been through, and then their lives ended in random ways beyond their control.
That is unfortunately how life seems to work now. The good die young while the bad ones continue cranking along.
And in freedom. Disgusting.
I can't find part 5 this is bull
Rip sweet steven
Where the eff is part 5, the thumbs is now down, thank you for nothing
It is very very annoying that you only show the first parts of the show. It would be acceptable if people from outside the US could watch it on your original site..... But we cant. It's really disapointing and since I love your show its extra frustrating that you do this. :( Shame on you guys!
Poor Steven man
Where is part 5?!?
What's the point of this if you aren't going to post all parts?
Sunshine Good Morning is a beautiful name
I saw this movie years ago and have always remembered it. Does anyone know where I can watch it?
It’s on HULU on 20/20
ShihtzuMom Thank you! Found it!
Wow. A mom having an intuition that this guy is a freak. I'm not surprised

Sunshine Good Morning whyyy?
😂😂😂
IM FROM MERCED CA.
why was Sean Flynn (0:40) so defamatory? he belittled everything Steven did. "Blew that money" "a bit part" "no license" like.... what does any of that have to do with the tragedy of his life. It seemed so dismissive
So very sad
where's the end?
Very tragic.
Such a sad shame when he was kidnapped abused raped also tryed to help out a child from being in the same situation and at least he found love got married and had children and dint end up like his brother killing women and landing him self in jail for the rest of his life##
No part 5??
Where is episode 5? Why did I bother?
Part 5 anyone
Where the freak is part 5?
Yeah not thorough. Who killed Steven? His wife gets no air time and murderer tho Cary is nothing on him. Equal time folks. Bad reporting.
Steven was killed in a motorcycle accident - hit and run and the driver confessed
Where's the rest of the story?! Seriously?
I skip all the girlfriend's parts. More than necessary of her sorry. Why is she describing his death. He was married at that point. Wtf.
And the boy he saved got to become a police. Officer and got to grow up
Yes but died at age 35 of an aneurysm
Ok so I'll this tragedy that has happened. And he feels like he's losing his mind. He's crying out for help. Yet he doesn't stay going to the doctor. Instead, he plays out his desire to kill women. Again, is BS!!
I think Carey didn’t know how to handle the sociopathic mental space. Idk what he’s been diagnosed w/ but you can tell in his younger years by the look in his eyes that he tried to connect to people. Carey just couldn’t.
People that fucked up in the head will refuse meds & any other sympathetic help.
@@introspective_One Well all of you can sympathize with Carey all u want. Truth is he didn't get help for his so called condition. No instead he totally managed to kill a woman, her 15 yo teenage daughter and their 16 yo family friend. And do his best to cooperate answering questions with detectives in order to not be suspected. Then a few months later kill another woman. A Yosemite Park Naturalist Joie Armstrong and decapitated her head then when he realizes there on to him he flees YNP and heads to a nudist colony in Sacramento. Where they finally capture him. So instead of ever seeking any help out at all of his sick and evil fantasies. He just goes on his killing spree. And 4 wonderful ladies are in there graves. Nope he gets 0 zero sympathy from me. Let him rot in prison til he dies.
WHERE IS PART 5 !! STOP TROLLING OR EVERYONE WILL UNSUB YOU !
Part 5??????
Does anybody know where part 3 is?
Unknowingly, it was the first one I watched. About a minute in, I realized I was missing something and double checked the title. I found the first part, and started watching it. Sad
I have done some reading about this family. I learned about Steven Stayner but not until his reunion with his family in 1980. I was living in Prunedale in 1972 with my Mom and older brother. I was unaware of what happened to Steve. And knew nothing of older brother Carey. I am 8 mos older than Cary. I feel so sad of what happened to Steven. But I feel nothing for the older brother. The Stayner parents IMO were the absolute worst set of parents God ever created. They were not their for any of their kids. While I sympathize of their concern when Steven was abducted but to carry on the way they did with their other kids was totally pathetic. Carey knew he had issues. Friends knew he had issues yet nothing was really done IMO. Carey himself did nothing as far as seek any kind of counseling for his sick/evil fantasies of murdering women. Their is always someone to speak with. Not just hide your fantasies and smoke Marijuana. His Dad Delbert was about as pitiful as they come. You help make 5 kids you help take care of 5 kids. Yet unfortunately because Carey did nothing to try to help himself by seeking any help nor any of his family or friends this guy travels to beautiful YNP not to get away from his problems but to hopefully be able to play out his sick evil fantasies, since childhood mind u of murdering women. Managing to hide his true intentions and land a job at a most perfect spot then scouting around like a cobra lurking through the bushes seeking his female possible victims. Then when Carol Sund, Juli and Silvina show up and Carey notices them with no man with them BOOM he's found his first victims. I am so sad of what happened to those poor women. I pray Carey suffers in the worst way. I pray that Delbert is burning in hell for being the worst Dad u could ever imagine. As far as their Mom Kay. I'll just say I hope she can make peace with God. She wasn't brought brought up by a loving father either from what I read. That's about all I need to say. May Steven be RIP. May his kids be OK.
Why do you have to break this up into so many fucking parts?
