Amazing amp. The balance between the two channels is the best i’ve ever heard. All the rich harmonic content from channel 1 rings through beautifully in the OD channel.
I have one of these and I love it. I just got an earthquaker devices hizumitas and I put it in front of the crunch channel. I don't exactly know how to describe that sound but "tight" is definitely not the right word. The slo 30 wouldn't replace my pittbull but it is such an awesome second sound. Also if anyone is wondering the clean channel on this amp is very good.
I love the soldano sound. It's got the right amount of harmonic thickness and grit with lots of detailed low end. Great circuit. I'd love one of these beasts someday. In the ampsim land I'm not really recording with a Soldano sim like Neural because I like a tighter, harsher distortion generally. But man this would be great to play through in the room. Another great demo :)
Diming the crunch mode and hitting with an OD (OCD or Tumnus) is one of the best tones in the amp, and is far from “Dad rock”. Def a modern rhythm tone. Look at what John Browne pulls from the crunch mode in his demo (dropped C) for a reference point. Crunch mode can get nasty.
Love this amp, sounds very sort of 90’s like STP Core record territory which is one of my favorite tones ever. Most folks don’t realize how nasty, gnarly and just good that tone was on that record
So many guitist will try out/demo and amp and just solo away as if its the only way to play. But I feel like ringing out big chords is the best way to hear what an a.pis all about. Like you said the way the chords bloom and the harmonic content really comes out with those big long chords. Hard to hear all that when you're just shredding like slash is watching. Lol One of the "little things" that I enjoy about this channel is how you end some of your riffs with a big chord and sometimes you let it ring out. Almost every video, thats what I'm waiting for. Lol it really shows an amps character.
Definitely one of my most favorite amps! I just ordered the mini head since i didnt have 3k/4k for an amp. And also the Neural DSP SLO100 plugin rips! And I love how I'm listed as Black Sheppard in the patreon list HAHA!
Maybe it's just me, but for an SLO, it actually sounds pretty low gain for 3 o'clock on the high gain channel. Overall an absolutely killer amp! But that's to be expected from Soldano. Maybe one day we can squeeze some cleans out of you lol. I'm dying to hear the clean channels on the amps you demo because your audio quality is top notch and would represent it extremely well, as well as further guide my decision on whether or not it's worth buying. Do you plan on demoing the SLO Mini?
I tried this out at guitar center yesterday, it sounded good but I don’t guess it’s for me, I’m that kid that just plays in his bedroom and scoops the mids 😂 but I did try a mini rectifier as well and I enjoyed that one much more
Use amp Sims instead, until you can save and get a full recto. I got a smaller recto years ago, and while I loved it, I wish I had gotten the 100w. The SLO30 is great
Open it up! Let's take a close look at the circuits! ( My guess is: you bought it to profile it with your Kemper, and you will be returning it soon. ) LoL!
You gotta do the new SLO mini and compare them 🤣 I can't afford the SLO 30 so I'm thinking of getting the mini and just slaving it to a power amp or something if I need more volume for live use but 30 would be plenty for home use and recording
I owned an SLO-30 for about year, and I honestly don’t think the new mini sounds anywhere close, unfortunately. I will say though, Neural DSPs sim of the 100 sounds pretty much dead on, so I’d recommend that route if you want Soldano tones. Oh, and STL Tones Tonhub capture of the 100 sounds pretty damn accurate as well! Cheers!
@@kronabus199a I would do that but being a budget player the mini is as close as I can get as far as Soldano goes haha. I'm sure it's nothing close to the tube heads but it's gotta be better than my Orange micro dark lol. I've also been considering one of the new Orange super crush 100 which is a very different amp as well I'm just torn between what tones I want more 🤣
The SLO mini is garbage. Just like the Friedman mini head. Its a pedal in a plastic head box. Save your money. Reverb will be flooded with used one before you know it, Just like i said would happen with the Friedman,.
totally going to do the new mini slo soon! people who say the mini Friedman are garbage apparently just can't dial things in. I think it sounds killer, not sure about any of the others though
Uhh....what the christ is this? I thought this was a video about chicks who like to get pummeled by whiffle ball bats cause it doesn't hurt them, but the feeling of being bludgeoned scares them. And there's the GAS taking control of my mind again... thanks Kyle
Love the sound, fantastic, even on C-standard on thrashy tunes! Happy enough to have at least the Neural DSP plugin version which is VERY close 🤘🏻

idk why but it reminds me of a Marshall and a Mesa Boogie. It has Kerrang but also thump. Love it
Hey Kyle, thanks so much for demoing this amp!
My pleasure!
I swear I thought you were going to review the Mini SLO just like EVERY channel. Well Kyle always has got something special for us :D
I'm so glad I found your channel. Thanks Kyle.
Thank you!
Great smaller head, a bit better for my taste than the Bogner 3435

Not even close.. dean used a Demeter preamp
And VHT power amp

wonderful the mid , upper mid and high
Great video. Can you do some shootouts out between the SLO, EVH 50 and that Splawn before you send it to Joe, or when you get another?

How do the early Jet City 20h and 50h compare?
20 H is a different monster. 50h is like a Hot Rod+
Compare Soldano with EVH and PRS.
I've never played a soldano I've only heard it through RUclips but the sound is just never clicked with me I mean it's good but it's just not my thing
