Today I'm in Erie, Pennsylvania, USA to check out the truck stop called TA Travel Center. I want to just look around and to see what they have to offer. I want to also have a shower and eat at Country Pride restaurant. They have an food item on the menu called the Mac N' Bacon Big Dog and can't wait to try it.

my dad found my lifelong dog under his truck at a TA truckstop. he named her TA. since then they have both passed and this video brings me back memories with both of them❤️
16$ to take a shower that's nuts... at that price I'll just use a hose.

Love the mention of saving money from quitting pop. It's one of the many great perks I've noticed too.
TA is one of my favorites when I was OTR. Was always somewhere to park even late. Went to one that had a Big Bear or somwthing Bear restaurant. Had the best pancake breakfast Ive even had at a restaurant.
Black Bear Diner? There’s a few TAs out west with them. I’d park at them to purposely get a bite to eat at the black bear. On the east coast they started adding Fuddruckers to some of the TAs. Amazing place to get great burger. Thankfully I am also off the road, I’d probably be no longer alive.

For $16 they should clean the garbage out of the shower. That's disgusting. If I saw that in a hotel room I would ask for a different room. They should sanitize those rooms after each person.
The showers are aimed more for truck drivers. Not using that as an excuse. For every 50 gallons of diesel a driver pumps they get a shower credit. So technically for a trucker the shower is free. For free, we got what we paid for. Also keep in mind, the shower porters are not paid all that much. Again, the TA gets what they pay for. Some locations are cleaner then others. As luck would have it, a big RUclips creator like Ken gets a dirty shower unit.

I gave up! No more trucking in USA TA wasn't my first choice truckstop about the food franchises selection, I miss my Love`s travel center and my Flying J. however, in terms of parking lot size when I urgently needed to park overnight, I couldn`t really go working around without them!

You should drive out to the North Shore in Northern Minnesota along Lake Superior. Fantastic fish restaurants, Bettie’s Pie, Lutsen Ski Resort, and plenty of Norwegian and Swedish foods. I am a huge fan of yours and love your content. #Afoodielikeyou

While I don't condone ketchup on a hot dog (Chicago rule!), it might have been on that to neutralize the saltiness of the dog and pair with the mac and cheese. Mustard probably would've been icky.
well that's embarrassing for TA, walked into a few showers i walked right out of and said that no one cleaned it, they challenged me so i showed them! WOW especially after COVID
I gave up! No more trucking in USA TA wasn't my favorite for the food franchises selection, I miss my Love`s travel center and my Flying J. however, in terms of parking lot size when out of time on my logbook, I couldn`t reaally trucking around without them!
Overly salty or not that hot dog was a lot more interesting than what salmon would of been. Thanks for doing it just for us 😊

You could have asked a truck driver to get you a shower. When truckers get diesel, they get free showers in rewards and usually most of drivers have tens if not hundreds of free showers available in rewards because it is not possible to spend it all for one driver.

Ken, If you take the I-86 towards Jamestown instead of continuing on I-90 I highly recommend you stop at Johnny's Lunch in Lakewood NY...you wont be disappointed. Its a staple and has been around for decades

Ironically they are known for their hotdogs. Texas hots to be exact. Which their chilli sauce is a must. I recommend some hotdogs with everything (which is sauce, onion and mustard) and their texas fries with onion. The rest of the order ill leave up to you 👍

Enjoyed the video Ken. As someone from Erie, PA it was cool to see you in such a familiar area these last few videos. Never been to the TA truck stop outside of getting gas but I’ll have to try the restaurant. (Definitely not the showers)
I recommend you spend a few days in Erie next time. A lot of cool food spots. I highly recommend Presque Isle for you. A lot of nice beaches and bike paths. There are even camping grounds which could make for a good stealth camp!
JMHO but mac n cheese is a 'stand alone' item not a rider on a dog .
Shower was 16.00 the food was 20.00 that TA is about 1 hour from me.

I think they gave you the wrong shower room; that definitely had not been cleaned for a turnover to be used by a paying customer.
Prices are absolutely disgusting. $10 for a 12 pack of soda here.

Sometime when you aren't in a hurry, check out Presque Isle in Erie - it's a great place to relax. Nice beaches, old school diner before you cross into the 'state park'. You were close by there. A lot of history there - for Canadians & Americans. Enjoyed the vid.

Ya know Ken, I’d probably have picked the plain or chili dog option. I’m not a fan of Mac n cheese as a topping. Plus I’d have gotten fries so less carbs.
I can never turn down a hot dog, but I'd definitely do chili. When they cut the hot dog down the middle it upsets me though haha.

@@andrewpadilla2252that has nothing to do with my comment. I live in PA, the state in which this video was filmed, and we have zero issues with clean water. I shower at least twice daily and my water bill is $15 a month. This place charged more than that for a single shower...

Hey Ken, if you ever go into a shower that is not clean, doesn't matter what Truck Stop, go back to the desk and tell them it's not clean and have them assign you a clean one. We (my husband and I) who is a truck driver, would never use a shower like that, we would have refused it, and going to Country Pride is a good decision to choose.

Go down to Monterrey, Mexico and eat from OXXO convienent stores and Mexican 7/11 also eat street tacos from food stands. And drink “Joya” Mexican soda from glass bottle(way better than Jarritos).Also eat Cabrito.

My husband and I stopped there for breakfast and a shower on our way to Myrtle Beach in April. $20 for the shower is a deal when both my husband and I used it.
As a truck driver I definitely bring Disinfectant wipes. And i wipe the whole bathroom down Before & After I'm done

What balsam do you use?
We were in a situation ( NW Florida ) coming back from a beach day pre reception to a formal wedding with very limited time ( poor planning ) to freshen up. We put four big bottles of water in our back window and at a beach rest park we took "baths" with the nice warm water and beach towels. I used some spray in conditioner and since I self-tanner in lieu of makeup I was able to change into my monkey suit wedding outfit and pass for a non-stinky human by the time the wedding started! I'm old so no one cared if I was crusty, lol but I've taken many a bath with a large warm water especially one morning when our water was out in our neighborhood. Just a tip for travel!

Country Pride's chicken fried chicken is really great, stopped many times when I was running OTR. That shower though...YIKES, they cant all be winners lol!😎👍
I would be shocked if they cleaned the showers after each use.
They should have some type of high pressure bleach and hot water system that blasts the filth away after each use.
For the price they should get on their hands and knees and scrub the shower after every use.

@@KBDProductionsTV Just wanted to show another cheap option that will help out a lot on future 24 hour stealth campsites in the states and Canada. Planet fitness is like Walmart. Pretty much everywhere with a shower and cheap membership you can cancel anytime.
