Was a truck driver for 20 yrs, really enjoyed the old Flying J restaurants . Everything is fast food now, really sucks...I love the butter tarts with currants and a drippy filling.
French toast breakfast sandwich is good. All their meals are good. Meatloaf, country fried steak, rotisserie chicken, etc. Their wings and pizza are good also. Their chicken strips are delicious as well.
Ken if you are ever in Arthur Ontario there is a place called Silver Fox Distillery and they have a whisky that taste just like a butter tarts. And another whisky that is called fluffer nutter and it taste just like a Smores.
It’s just some provinces that corner stores/truck stops don’t sell beer. In NFLD and Quebec they sell beer In these type of store. Maybe other provinces but that’s my experience. Pretty convenient when you want a case of beer on the way home after work.
At 5:39 : I did a double take. They were playing the opening guitar to "Time stands Still" by Rush just after you said Canada rocks. And that riff is my current ring tone on my phone. I almost grabbed my cell on hearing that 😂
When I was on the road Pilot/Flying J was the ones I frequented. Great coffee. Wasn’t a big fan on the deli counter but once in awhile I did enjoy the steak egg and cheese bagel.
Ken just to give a heads up shawarma is not Indian but Lebanese type food .Saying this as I saw in the video some Arabic type of writings or it may be Urdu or Farsi on the restaurant sign .
The wrong way driver reminded me of the scene from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. "YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!" "What? How do they know where we're going?"
@ 19:56 Try honey instead of sugar as natural good quality honey is the most natural form of sweetness as they only filter it and nothing more making it a none highly processed product.
Ken, you buy your corndogs "State Fair brand corndogs is the biggest in the US" at your local grocery store in the frozen food section along with Alexia brand or McCain brand Beer Battered Onion Rings. An Air Fryer is the best way to cook both to help stay healthy.
Great video ken. We have lots of flying J's pilot truck stops here in the Pacific Northwest in the United States. We call those corn dogs in the United States I love mustard on them too.
Firm butter tarts are my favorite. And I been in the passenger side of the car with my mom when she drove on the wrong side of the road before. Just like you, I was like "wtf" scared, held onto for dear life, as she did 100 down the highway on wrong lane. Luckily no one was in the lane
Please come back do this. I can't wait to see what's behind that closed door. Maybe stock up some more vinegar in your glove department? Awesome video. Thanks!
Cool one. Don't forget the Flying J you were at in AYR on Cedar Creek Road had a regular restaurant and not a Denny's. I think I have only seen the Denny with a Flying J on the 401 at Napanee. 🤗
One of my towns here in PA has Speedway, I've never gone inside a Speedway before, not even in my hometown. My hometown used to have a Speedway, now, it's Marathon, before Speedway, was Hess.
Hey Ken, about your story on the couple driving at highway speed in the opposite lane, I live in Vancouver BC, and it happens here almost once a month; sometimes with the car in the bike lane or passenger sidewalk! But here it is from International drivers use to left lane traffic.
Goodness … that food looked disgusting!! You would have been better off getting a bacon 🥓 breakfast sandwich meal at Tim Hortons. Double toasted 12 grain or Everything bagel. Your hash brown and coffee of course. The rest of the food didn’t look very appealing either. As a side note … Freshco has a package of 8 butter tarts (I prefer the raisin butter tarts). They are individually wrapped. If I recall, the price was around $6.97, possibly $5.97. They actually taste pretty darn good.
Pilot/Flying J is headquarted here in my home town of Knoxville TN and my understanding is that the regular gas stations around here are just Pilot and the truck stops are Pilot/Flying J Looking forward to the next segment of this trip on video.
I worked nights for a long time. One night on my way in a car came flying down the wrong lane straight for me. Thankful I saw his headlights and could react but scared the 💩out of me.
I love corndogs, but have never made them from scratch. I think I got a few fresh made ones at fairs as a kid, but usually buy frozen ones (Foster Farms, State Fair or Bar-S). I do ketchup & mustard on my corndogs just like my hot dogs, but I’m fine w/ mustard only and would never do ketchup only. And yeah, it’s quite normal for independent restaurants (esp. Asian) to only be open for dinner on weekend days…or sometimes ~11a-2p for lunch, then close until 5-6p and re-open for dinner.
I’m a trucker from Manitoba and I have never eaten any kind of truck stop food. It’s expensive and not that healthy for you. I always prep home made meals and reheat them in my truck’s microwave. I do however get coffee whenever I fuel up.
Another great video my friend 👍😀 I got to the point where you started eating the tart. Forgive me if Im wrong but if a tart has rasins, pecans, or even chocolate chips wouldnt it be that type of tart & if it has just the plain brown sugar, butter etc than I think it would be a butter tart. Im just assuming the info. Maybe I will research that & see what the drfinition of a butter tart is
fried frozen food and a stale pb&j. intriguing.
……I mean it’s a gas station so what did u except lol
@@adam-kaiwhite4226 expect
Sounds like the same crap food you get at Sheetz 😂
Definitely worth going back for Indian food is amazing
Was wondering what the heck a pogo was. It's a corn dog.
Great music selection in your car. Rock n Roll!
Crazy on you - Heart. Great song!
Zepellins - Ramble on 😁
Fruit salad yummy yummy must have watched the wiggles back in the day lol
Classic
Pilot / Flying J used to be two separate, competing Travel Centers. They merged in 2010.
Good to see you come to my neck of the woods! I love fort erie and our local flying J!
Rush TIME STANDS STILL 🤘🤘🤘
I can't fathom paying for a pb&j sandwich. For myself. Got put a burger on that thing first.
Was a truck driver for 20 yrs, really enjoyed the old Flying J restaurants . Everything is fast food now, really sucks...I love the butter tarts with currants and a drippy filling.
Thanks for sharing
I've got beer at truck stops in NB, and BC before, truck stops sell beer in Canada just not all of them...
Ya, I guess it only Ontario
In Newfoundland too!
Like the truck stop videos . My favorite
Glad you like them!
ive never heard someone call corndogs pogos, and we normally just buy a pack at my heb and make them in the microwave its 12 to a box.
Great work Ken! I think Buc-ee's is still my favorite Tuck Stop!! That place was amazing!!
Mine too!
Just a little FYI. Buccee’s actually does not allow 18 wheelers. They are a “travel center”.
Great video , No vinegar , i usually keep zip-lock bag with extra condiments in my car, thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing
The butter tart looks like what we use in the center of a pecan pie down in southern us. Like a thick pudding made out sugar
French toast breakfast sandwich is good. All their meals are good. Meatloaf, country fried steak, rotisserie chicken, etc. Their wings and pizza are good also. Their chicken strips are delicious as well.
Definitely do a truck stop 24hr stealth camp. Good to see gas stations and truck stops making a comeback!
Ken if you are ever in Arthur Ontario there is a place called Silver Fox Distillery and they have a whisky that taste just like a butter tarts. And another whisky that is called fluffer nutter and it taste just like a Smores.
can you buy it online?
I think so yes @@jeffdubuque3755
Ken, you hit dozens of places that have that vinagar! Keep packets in the rig brother!
Some flying J's used to have buffets
A little loverboy turn me loose great song selection while driving Ken your road trips look fun

Definitely a mustard on those. Never liked onion rings.
make them corndogs homemade with a sweet sourcream cornbread mix yummy!
Ken,Love the videos.Butter tarts sounds kinda like pecan pie.Lunch food looks better than breakfast food ❤
Pilot and Flying J used to be separate entities and one bought the other and now they are one.
I live in Phoenix and people go the wrong way on the highway all the time, usually drunk!
Rusty is looking a bit crusty in the cabin area
Yup
I would like to see you do 24hrs there it would be a interesting video
Me, too. 😃👍
Never heard anyone say peanut butter and jam always heard it as I know peanut butter and jelly

I've never had a "pb&j" sandwich (I'm from the UK) but I love peanut butter and jam on toast - pb on first then really good jam on top - yummy
pb and JELLY
When I was on the road Pilot/Flying J was the ones I frequented. Great coffee. Wasn’t a big fan on the deli counter but once in awhile I did enjoy the steak egg and cheese bagel.
How about 24-hours eating vending machine food at a Rest Area & you cooking a meal on a picnic table there?
My fave Loverboy song!!!
0:40-0:41
"I was born to run"
Probably from the rain.
I love butter tarts, but not the ones with raisins. Great video Ken!
Everything's fine in Canada: Radio Tune at the begining, Loverboy - Turn me Loose... 😅
As always, love the truck stop videos. I'll always get Columbian blend coffee at gas stations. It always seems to have the most flavor!
Ya, me to
You're playing my kind of music Ken
Your about 3 minutes away from one of the best hidden restaurants in the niagara region. Its called green acres. Huge portions and great food.
Ken just to give a heads up shawarma is not Indian but Lebanese type food .Saying this as I saw in the video some Arabic type of writings or it may be Urdu or Farsi on the restaurant sign .
It originated in Turkey, but it's popular many places in the Middle East.
@@Sakja Nonetheless it is not Indian that is what I'm saying .
Mall Of America has/had Shawarma. I saw it on my Mary Kate and Ashley Mall Party movie. It looked okay. Does MOA still have Shawarma?
Hi, great video, have you tried peanut butter and strawberry jam on pancakes? friggin awesome!😊
The wrong way driver reminded me of the scene from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
"YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!"
"What? How do they know where we're going?"
An OPP officer? Are they naughty? By nature?
Oh not clickbait again
😂
Grab food from back of the shelves. Usually fresher stuff is behind. PBJ sandwich shelf.
If you come to Florida again sometime, you should do a review of a Publix Sub, they're famous down here, especially the chicken tender one.
The chicken tender subs around the Florida/Georgia areas are the best kept secret!
That butter tart makes me think of Paul McCartney "Band on the Run", the line that talks about "butter pie". Sounds like the same thing.
You're a well seasoned traveler , you should have some back up condiments in your trusty van in the glove compartment
Lol, later I found vinegar packs in the centre console
we have those same coffee machines at our local gas station. fresh ground beans everytime
Nice video, Ken. Love to see your videos when eating lunch at home.
Glad you like them!
Never heard them called pogos. I buy them frozen in the grocery store. Yes who doesn’t love onion rings.
@ 19:56 Try honey instead of sugar as natural good quality honey is the most natural form of sweetness as they only filter it and nothing more making it a none highly processed product.

Pilot and flying j are both truck stops. Owned by the same person
Butter tarts sre called pecan pies foen here. They have the same recipe but pecans are baked on top. Very delish!! 😋
Mayo on a corndog. Or ketchup. Can't stand yellow mustard.
Thanks for the video ken, what are Pogo's? I make corn dogs at home once in a while
Pogo is a brand name and they make corn dogs
@@KBDProductionsTV ahh ok , thanks for answering me, your the only RUclipsr that ever answers me back I really appreciate it.

Try honey on your onion rings. My wife does this and I thought she had a screw loose but it is very good.
Give the wife a high five! Its delicious 😋
Pilot and Flying J is one company pilot Owns Flying J
They had Kurkure at the register (Indian cheetos)! There must be a lot of Indian truckers!
They used to be 2 different truck stops, now they’ve merged into Pilot Flying J travel centers.

Good for you for cutting sugar type drinks. That's really tough for a lot of people. Good video regardless if it wasnt exactly how you intended.
Thank you!! 😊
Please stop calling them truckers, they are called drivers now.
