Yes, the best part of Laulau besides teaching and keeping traditions alive was the gathering of a community. The whole ʻohana and neighborhood would be together. Kia ora from New Zealand. Lau Lau, beautiful. Im Niuean/Maori and in our culture we call that dish Palusami. We also add a generous amount of onions and coconut cream before wrapping it up in the taro leaves. I love your Big As Steamer, definitely big enough to feed the whole tribe, but you'll know ay, ya cant beat it cooked in the ground, Hangi / Umu / Luau, that earthy element, mmmmmmm. OMG, Y'all made me hungry, out to the garden to get some taro leaves, my turn to cook up The Taste of Home....Cheers Guys, All The Best.

    • @tritontransport

Yeah you can order them and have them shipped but the shipping can be high because they basically have to be shipped overnight from Hawaii since they’re fresh. I have 2 dozen ti leaves arriving this Thursday so I can make a kalua pork roast for Memorial Day weekend guests. I ordered extra so I can freeze a bunch for later use. You might also check with flower shops in your area and see if they have any or maybe they can order them for you and the shipping might be less because they might order them from suppliers and farmers with larger orders of other items
