    awesome footage - strapped a Go-Pro to his head. and, his narration is excellent. this youtube channel has what it takes to grow a big following. but - make no mistake, the truck is the star of the show.
    draw up a huge list of all the things to do on the truck. rank order in terms of easiest/costliest to hardest/expensive...do the easy stuff first; it'll give you momentum, while you build the capital to pay for the expensive stuff.

    There's a company called Duracool. They make a refrigerant that directly replaces R12 and is just as efficient. and it doesn't destroy the seals and o rings like R134 does when put in an R12 system.

    That ball joint bit for the shift arm is a pain in the butt to get, might see if you can't have it rebuilt if possible, salvage one, or take and see if a machine shop can replicate it. Mines worn out on my FLT as well.

    Damn nice truck Kyle, looks like someone gave that thing a make over a while ago, being the frame is painted blue. Engine looks really good as well, compared to mine anyway.

    Solder as many of the connections as you can, for resistance against moisture and vibration. FSC Steve fitted an APU to his Pete so he now has reliable aircon and heat, at a price no doubt. The ball joint in that linkage might be common to something else. Get it measured. Blue moon, Baby Blue, Blue valentine, Singing the blues.

      Steve’s truck has the APU behind the front passenger tire, but I can’t fit one there because the tank is too far forward. I definitely want an APU, it’s about $15k installed and I’ll need to stretch the truck about 30” to make it work so that will be a ways off before it happens.

    Hi Kyle I once had a truck that I named smoky just because at the initial start smoke for a bit ,I didn't used the name as derogatory but more as I like you truck,after that wash look good.Keep on trucking.

    If it is popping out of gear the transmission needs work done to it, I have had trucks do that and they had to pull the transmission and replace some gears, I use to put a bungie chord on the shifter to hold it in. Thats a heim join on the shifter, you might have to look around to get one, I had an 88 cabover parts are impossible to find for those things, a lot of parts off a conventional FLD will fit on that truck, I know Air conditioner parts are the same.

    Love them freightliner cabovers I also got an 85. I believe the doors from an flc, fld, or classic should also fit seem to be the same.

      Thats what they look like, it’s like freightliner used the same parts on most of these trucks- dash board, bumper, etc.

      I might end up doing that. A new seat is about $1,200 but I would like to get this thing on the road relatively quickly so anywhere I can save a few dollars I’m gonna try.

    Does look like they drug it by the bumper. Didn’t see any other spots to hook a chain to drag it. That shift linkage probably needs adjustment and it’s most likely got a lot of wear on it. Neither one helps tho.

    • @kyle-kelliher
      @kyle-kelliher  Год назад +1

      I adjusted the pivot rod already, before I did that it wasn’t possible to get in to 3/7 or 4/8. That little ball joint just needs to be replaced at this point.
