We moved to Ogema in 1968/69. We moved there from Malaysia. My dad, John Variyan l, was a school teacher there. We lived at 109 Alfred Street. I was six years old. I remember the Bacons, Danny Bowers, the Pinkhams and the Hartley family, to name a few. I have great childhood memories. Wonderful town and wonderful people. Richard Variyan
EXCELLENT! Love to hear stories like yours. So pleased that U had a golden childhood in Ogema. U should write the town council; they'd love your story, too. Thanks for watching and writing. U lift my spirits in these dark COVID days. Take care and Keep well, Richard. Cordially, Don Wilson
Excellent! U'll have fun at the summer fair. Maybe take in a ballgame or 2 from the antique grandstand. Ride the train out to Horizon and back. Explore the Big Muddy. Hope your dreams come true, Lyndz. Cordially, Don Wilson
thanks for this video. Enjoyed it. Went through with my family in 2007, even stayed the night. We were visiting from New Zealand although I grew up in Winnipeg, my father from Goodeve , Saskatchewan. cheers, Ken Kowalchuk
I am SO wanting to get to Goodeve, Kenneth, and Hubbard and Jasmine and the rest of the "Alphabet" line northwest from Melville. Next year. Thanks for watching and writing. Very kind. Take care and Keep well. Cordially, Don Wilson
@@HomeTownSaskatchewan Many times over the years my father, 90yrs. now and living in Winnipeg since 1964 has mentioned the alphabetic naming of those towns.
Hey, Jask, how was your trip to Solo Italia? Do want to get to that resto, too. Perhaps I'll be lucky enough this fall. Thanks for writing and viewing Cordially, Skyleo
When you showed the old Edgeworth schoolhouse, it brought back memories. I attended from Grades 1 to 3. Our farm was 1/2 mile from there and the property deeded to the school was actually 3 acres donated by my uncle's father. It is located exactly 10 miles north of Ogema and 1 and 1/2 mile west. After grade three that school was closed and we were transferred to Dahinda school, another 3 miles west. From there we did grades 10-12 in Ogema and finished in 1964.
Thanks, Rumple. Nice to see some of the long lost schools mentioned. I'm pleased that someone thought to save the Edgeworth so that it could show up on my Ogema video and bring back memories for U. Did U hear that the old firewall in Ogema was so severely damaged by the gales of Jan 13, 2021, that they are going to have to knock the rest of it down. I wonder if they won't just rebuild it. Thanks for watching and writing. Take care and Keep well. Cordially, Skyleo PS Wouldn't your uncle's father be your grandfather?
@@HomeTownSaskatchewan No. My uncles father would be my great uncle, not my grandfather. actually, not really a relative until my aunt married the man who became my uncle. If I keep going i will become "my own grandpa". Like the song.
OK. Thanks for watching, Rumple. I guessing that my vid triggered pleasant memories, and that pleases me. Take care and Keep well. The best to U and yours in 2021. Cordially, Skyleo Fiets
That looks like my Impala at the cemetery... now I'm trying to remember if I visited the my grandparents graves during a flying trip summer 2012. Hmmmm
No way!. What a coincidence! Sorry so long in responding to your comment, cindy. The RUclips misfiled hundreds of my in-bound correspondence going back 14 years! I just found them. Anyway. Thanks for watching and writing, lo these many years ago. Take care and Keep well. Cordially, Skyleo Fiets
Yes, it was a healthcare building. There was a chiropractor from Weyburn that came in one day a week, and there was a doctor's office too - I think he was 2 or 3 days a week. I graduated from Ogema in 1979 - 25 graduates - largest graduating class ever, to my knowledge. It was a great community to grow up in.
Eh? Well, I guess so, but a LOT of American girls immigrated (usually with their families) to SK in the early years of the 20th Century, late yrs of the 19th, so maybe "All-American girls." Thanx for writing, Dennis, and commenting on "EYE-toona," as well. Nice to know that U are a bikie and a sk8ie, too. Welcome to Saskatchewan. Cordially, Don Wilson
Thanks for the kind words. Maybe I will visit one of your provinces someday. They can not be as bad as people think. You really bring out their beauty in your videos. I respect that sir. Thanks also for some Canadian history lessons. Fascinating to know.

My grandparents were among the first homesteaders in Ogema. William and Alma Dawson. They said living there was the best times of their lives.
Nice. So glad that your parents enjoyed their time in Ogema. Maybe someone will remember the Dawsons.
Thanks for writing, A.
