Other tips I think might be useful are: 1. You can bend your standing leg for better control and power if need be, because you can move your body more smoothly 2. Angle your torso slightly downwards or at least straight if you don't want the ball to fly away vertically 3. If you feel uncomfortable performing a technique in a specific way, adjust your movement until it's both effective and sort of natural
Mate this video is my essense 😅 I modelled my entire set piece routines after Beckham, I have also found it can help with certain types of passes and shot as long as you integrate it right
I am no one at all, but been a player, coach, ref, and student of the game for 30 years.. the best on you tube in my humble opinion.. fantastic stuff! Do you have anything on "ankle lock" or how to shape your striking foot .. I have run into this so often , and there isnt a great video that I have seen on the subject. again, super stuff, love the breakdown!
Really appreciate it mate! That’s awesome to hear ❤️ Actually my next video (after tuesdays video) will be on shooting, so I’ll make sure to focus on the ankle/foot positioning. Is there anything in particular that your struggling with? Cheers matey
Very interesting to see how he uses his arms. He's a right foot and raises his left arm for balance. Meanwhile im a left foot and i use my left arm for balance, despite taking the same approach angle toward the ball. Great video!
To any young kids I suggest trying to model your free kick technique off this. I did when I was young and it led to me becoming a much better crosser too. That whipping technique is dangerous. Obviously a great corner technique too which I found success with when I was still playing.
Wonderful Video, it helped me to perfect this tecnique, i play as a midfielder and i didnt know about all this stuff i did pretty accurate passes but i was bad at freekicks now i am kinda better. keep going like that!
Hey 👋 thanks for the lovely feedback :). What position do you play as that will play into it. But essentially, you’ll want to look where there is space so you can move into it ready to receive the ball. Also, if a team mate has a ball and there is defenders between you and that team mate, try and move to a position where there is a clear path of sight so that you now become and option :) I’ll try and make a video about soon 👍 I hope this helps

Great video, but Juninho Pernambucano has the best technique as he has the record for most free kicks scored worldwide… even from longer distances and impossible angles.
Completely agree, he’s no doubt the most successful Freekick taker 👍 This was in reference to the premier league, and specifically the curling Freekick 😁😁
Juninho is the only one I’d trust with the knuckleball and to get a shot on target. Success rate for others appears to be much lower and unviable (waste of a free kick most times) Sinsa Mihajlovic had a great record (plus they look better of a lefty 😂)

@@thefootballfolk today i have game set up with my mates. Thing is, it's not perfect. The technique shown lacks lots of the details surrounding the top spin and what you end up with is a standard curling shot and not a dangerous dipping curl.

The only part that's useful is where he hits the ball with what part of the foot. One thing is not mentioned is about the torso. The more power you put into your shot, the more your chest should be pointed to the floor, if not the ball will go to the moon. Beckham keeps his chest at a 90 degree angle with the floor, balanced, in control.
