Hola Nick. I had purchased many things during the last 2 years, spending more than expected. I'm definitely going to try not to spend money during this month and lower my spending during 2025. I do have some gift cards that was given to me during Christmas, and that will be the only spending money for January. Thanks for your videos. Mariebelle

    Great video, sir.
I have these categories to define my NO SPEND
H (HAVE TOs) - I have to spend otherwise my life will be a total mess: Food, House + Utilities, Transportation. If I don't pay for gas, I won't be able to drive to work, if I don't buy food... etc
N (NICE TOs) - I don't need them, I won't die without them, but my life will loose some qualities. Examples: Dinner with wife, date with daughters, subscription to my personal email.
If something happens, I can always to cut down these expenses to lower the cost of living
W (WANT TOs) - pure 100% wants. I just want this pen, notebook, ink, leather wallet, motorcycle gear, WHATEVER
My rule for NO SPEND month is, DON"T MAKE WANT TOs PURCHASES
    P.S.
I am joining you on this "No Spend Jan" adventure

    Hello Nick,
The video you have now shown...
I have been applying this method for a few months after reading your fantastically easy-to-understand booklet Ten Minute Budget.
And I can joyfully tell you that it has offered me nothing but positive outcomes.
It does take some skimming at times and putting yourself on the line in terms of discipline.
But all in all it is a good technique to get something together that you can fall back on when something happens .
Thanks again Nick for the tips and tricks :)

    Hi Nick.
I live frugally - trying to practice minimalism in a way that I enjoy.
Like you - I have a modest collection of fountain pens - but when I am out & about - I write with a pencil.
When it comes to books - I ask my local Oxfam to keep an eye out for the books I want to read -- it's saved me a great deal of money

@@PaxAlotin Evening Pax. Good to see we are on a similar journey with money behaviour and pens too! Fascinated by the idea of pencils only when you head out. Nick

@@nicksturgeonbooks There is a certain smoothness of writing with a pencil. It ties me to the work of Thoreau and others who used pencils. Plus the smell of a pencil when you put it to your nose. Mostly Cedar or scents of Pine. Many travel writers prefer pencils. Don't get me wrong - I love my fountain & dip pens - but when jostling around in a bus or sitting in a train - the pencil is more forgiving. Plus - a small pencil sharpener . :)
