@@bailey3276 lyrically or as an artist? Nas Kanye and em are my 3 favorite rappers. Kanye got
the best discography out of them and is the most creative. But he got some corny lines and isn’t as lyrically gifted as the other two.
Eminem has displayed some of the greatest lyricism and conveys his message in the most powerful way.
Nas is the most consistently amazing of the three. The other twos uniqueness leads to them having lows.

He voiced his opinion but an opinion ≠ fact.

As a Die Hard Pac fan I love the fact that he stated how PAC’s passion was what made him a legend in the game. What he didn’t have in the lyrical department he made you feel what he was saying. Especially songs like Pain, So Many Tears etc. Nice list by Jay.
In a time where most MCs were just straight up gangster rappers, 2pac combined the gangster rap of NWA, with the politicalness of Public Enemy, with anger and authenticity.
And no rapper to this day has anything quite like ‘Dear Momma’, or even ‘Brenda’s got a Baby’. BIG was great yes, a legend in his own right. But slightly one dimensional. And Pac just went *Beyond* . It’s hard to find anybody that captured the Black Experience like Pac did, in such a poetic way…especially in his early works
@@mvib1604 Yeah, Biggie, as much as I love him, wasn't as personal as 2pac. Didn't make me feel the way 2pac did. I think Kendrick Lamar is filling that 2pac gap though: combining political + personal rap.

He’s not wrong, Biggie would run circles around Pac skill wise, but Pac just had the passion to sell you what he was saying, you felt everything he rapped
That was Pac's biggest skill was to move people's emotions and he did have some technical skills but was more of a real and straightforward type of MC. Biggie was more about lyricism, cadence, flow, storytelling, punchlines, use of multiple entendres and being humorous at times as well. After saying all that I would choose Nas and Pac over any MCs. Big Pun and Prodigy would be in there as well, along with Rakim in my top 5 skill wise. Eminem would be right there in that mix as well based on mic skills and ability. If we're talking about my personal favorite top 5, the list would be slightly different. If I'm honest my personal top 3 would be Nas, Mac Miller and Pac. People gota stop saying big, because is it big pun? Big L?
Nah. Jay's top 5 was legit. I can't even lie.💯
People in the comments are either misunderstanding what Jay meant or purposefully misinterpreting what he said.
His reference to "technical skill" didn't mean Pac wasn't lyrical. But Pac was a pretty straightforward person, in and out of the booth. Pac didn't use double or triple entendres (Jay), or Iambic pentameter (Kendrick), or write an album with a story that plays differently whether you listen to the songs in order or in backwards order (Lupe). That's just not the kind of person Pac was, and it wasn't the kind of rapper he was. Pac was visceral and direct; if he wanted to say something, he just said it, no double or hidden meanings needed.
That's not a slight to him at all. Pac was Leonardo Da Vinci with the pen. Jay is Salvadore Dali. Both are artists, but their approach to the art was/is completely different, this the listener's experience is completely different.
That's a good point and yes pac was very direct especially on diss tracks
