Grenfell started with a faulty fridge. And papers being kept in kitchen.
People cooking with gas would not have helped. In the event of a fire.
My father had electric cooker and he lived on third floor .But his heating was gas.
If your every in a fire .Turn the sink and bath taps on.The water will cool it down a bit.

No one has been held accountable for Grenfell. The same is true for the building safety scandal and the governments handling of this has been piecemeal. The flat I live in was not built to safety standards in 2006 we await the developers to put this right. In the meantime our service chargers have increased from £2000 a year to £7000. We have had to pay for fire inspections and a 24 hour waking watch patrol. The ‘cost’ of this is falling on the people and ever increasing the financial burden and housing crisis. Paying more to live in an unsafe building doesn’t make it safer.

It was a big welfare state back in 2008 when i worked there, the biggest in Europe. Gentrification of east and south London in particular by the middle class over croweded the area. Nearby Newham and Barking already stripped of identity and its local community was already full and Dagenham became the next dumping ground. I did hear Canning Town had a huge fire a few months back not sure if cladding was the cause on that one.

Back in 1965 a reorganisation of the London area border took place.
Areas that had been part of Essex were moved to Greater London although confusingly the post office still puts Essex as part of the postal address.
    Area served by
    London ambulance service.
    London fire brigade.
    Metropolitan police.
Those entitled to the ENCTS who live in London get to use the underground, docklands light railway
    Croydon trams
National rail within the zones as well as buses.
ENCTS from outside London only get the buses.
We even have sadiq Khan as mayor of London.
I believe I am qualified to mention this as I live in Barking IG11.

The council is a corporation. Your council tax is paid directly to central gov. They then direct the council as to what they can spend on. The rest of the money is going to uk ltd who pay wef etc huge sums and are not for our benefit. Therefore, the central gov should be answerable to these problems. Esp as they passed the legislation to allow the cladding oversight in favour of corporate profits. The shareholders should be digging deep to be fined and found accountable for the trauma and homelessness caused. Perhaps they should be moved out of their gated developments to house these people and they could stay in their country pads for a while?
