The most haunting thing about Vic’s death, other than the fact that it mirrors his first interaction with Oz (him saying “please” and begging him not to kill him), is that he dies nameless. The entire time he was with Oz, he talked about being someone, a name worth remembering. Oz even told him their names were gonna go down in history… all for him to throw his ID in the water and leave him as just another unknown kid dead on the streets of Gotham. Damn. RIP Vic

i really loved how they really respect the "villain story" thing and they didnt turn him into an antihero. And Victor, damn. I knew he was going to die in some moment but the way they DID IT. SO CRUEL.
I think that it will also lead to his downfall, victor gave oz a lot of great ideas, and helped bail him out more than once. His disdain for family and closeness will ultimately be his downfall.

His original loyal crew were killed by the bomb and Vic was the last guy straight up loyal to Oz himself rather than just what Oz can give him/her. Oz will have to keep scheming and pitting the factions against each other as the only way to stay in power.
@@przemekkozlowski7835 another thing, Rex said “the most loyal guys are the guys that need a father figure, that’s the people you keep close to you.” Vic was one of those guys. He said that oz was like a father to him, then oz killed him. In a way it’s also almost like he liked the idea Rex stood for, but not the practice, he likes the power aspects of it but not the sentimental things because he sees that as a weakness that can be used against him, not only that but he believes that eventually someone will turn on you and that usually it’s the most loyal and close people so he turns on them first. It’s interesting, he’s obsessed with power but he’s so contrasting to someone like Sal, who actually was the most like Rex but was also the person oz hated the most other than Sofia.

He also figures that sooner or later Vic will realize what kind or monster Oz really is and turn on him because Vic is a decent human being. Better nip the problem in the bud. :(

In the end, it shows that Oz may have had some humanising moments throughout the show. But in the end, he was and always will be one of Batman's greatest enemies and Gotham's Kingpin. 🐧

The ending!!! Remember the promise he made to his mother, that he’d end her life if she ever became a vegetable. He never did, he’s to obsessed with his own desires of hearing her say that she’s proud of him and that she always knew he was capable of great things that he can’t even keep his own promise to her and would rather let her live in her miserable state than do what she wants. Batman 2 is gonna be awesome and the penguins going to be the main antagonist!!! That’s going to be amazing!
I was genuinely in shock when he strangled Victor. But as soon as he said he was like “family”, and Oz said “fuck”, I knew it was coming. Didn’t make it any less difficult to watch. The face he was making while he was doing it was horrifying.

I saw this coming from the moment Oz killed his brothers. Vic may have something special to the Penguin, but at the end of the day, Vic was just a weakness and a means to an end for him. The smartest thing Vic could've/should've done was get on that bus heading to California with his girl and he'd still be alive.

This version of the Penguin is the best. It honours various elements of his character from the comics. There are various versions but there are reoccuring themes. Having some form of relationship with his mom, his conniving manipulation and fascade, the umbrella a symbol of the night he murdered his brothers which btw is called Fratrcide or Siblicide which occurs in some animal species particularly birds. I love how the writers made that connection to that phenomem and how it relates to his ruthlessness and drive for power because in the animal kingdom its survival of the fittest.
It’s nothing like the comics more like the sopranos a gangster series than anything from the Batman universe and it’s NOT the best it’s so far from the super hero supervillain universe there could be just like watching the sopranos

Also I had this thought. Remember this line: “Whatever Carmine put on me I delivered. Every g*d damn time!” And after a comment I saw on another reaction for this episode it had me thinking that Oz is the real hangman. He did that since Carmine doesn’t seem like he would do it himself unless he was forced to like when Selena came at him. And Selena’s mom ain’t one of the victims of The Hangman so what if all those girls were taken out by Penguin. They worked at the 44 Below that he ran within The Iceberg Lounge.
I always saw Victor as a final test for Oz in terms of how far Oz would go to be his own boss. And Victor was a strength that could have became his greatest weakness and early versions of Penguin have always dealt with those weaknesses in many ways. Ex: Edward Nigma in Gotham.
I’m pretty sure they’re gonna transform him but by bit every Reevesverse entry; I see Batman messing up his eye in part 2, forcing him to get the monocle. Then in part 3 Oz makes the umbrella gun with the dagger tip.

Honestly I don't know why ppl are surprised by Vic's death. I knew from early on Oz, only needed Vic to use him. He manipulated him every step of the way because Vic had a void. Like Rex said, he didn't have a father and he needed someone to look up to. It's been clear from the start that Oz is a monster
Sophia was my favorite character of the year. I adore Oz but Sophia was just another level. I’m hoping she teams up with her sister in The Batman 2. Maybe Selena will be the one to break her sister out, which would put a huge divide between Selena and Bruce. 🤞
That letter from Selena probably was like telling Sofia to hang tight and she’s coming to get her. But can’t do it alone since when she tried to take out Carmine he nearly sent her to join her mom. So she got word to Gordon and he sent out the signal. Also Selena worked at the Iceberg Lounge and had to move around and gather info to maybe blackmail Penguin to help her get the money that she says Carmine owes her for what he did to her mom and letting her be sent off to a children’s home. Selena maybe has the info that Penguin (or Carmine) is the real Hangman. And maybe in the end of The Batman 2 they also frame him for the explosion at Crown Point and he’s sent off to Arkham. Sofia gets feee and Penguin gets both set up for crimes he didn’t commit & sent to Arkham like he did to Sofia along with the crimes he did commit.
One of the best shows I have seen. Possibly the best this year. Now I want to see more of these mini-series type thing in between Batman movies focusing on different batman villains.
I believe Oz losing his mother, after the last thing she told him was how much she hated him and stabbing him, Oz was done with love and caring. Him killing Victor was him abandoning any good he had left. And thus, completing his arc as The Penguin we all knew.
He didn’t kill vic because he didn’t trust him. He killed him because he does. He didn’t want vic to be used against him like Francis was. If you don’t care about anything, you’ve got nothing to lose!
Victor wasn't shot. yes, he was chocked out and so we assume he is dead. Although there could be a chance someone saw or found him soon after. And once Oswald left maybe he could have been resuscitated. Now, I am not sure why he could be brought back for a potential session 2. But there is still a possibility.
I knew Vic was going to die. The question is: Will he be resurrected and if so into what character? I think Eve has been roleplaying as Francis all this time when she and Oz are together.
This show was all fun and games, cool to watch but this episode was really dark and made me sad. But the Batsignal at the end is what I needed, a symbol of hope.
What an episode! OZ puts sofia in Arkham. Again. Something worse than death. And he got all the lieutenants on his side now. The whole vic thing was so hard to watch… Sofia said it… Oz’ greatest strength is he has no weaknesses.. Oz kept it that way after the events with his ma…. Ughh
Oz won by using all the manipulative skills and lies he can put on his enemies. In the way i see it, he can kill someone easily like Alberto and Vic but miss the chance to kill Sal and Sofia. I know that Sal got himself a heart attack to death, leaving Oswald in disappointment. While for Sofia, Oz thought the only hell he could give to her was to make Sofia live her life in Arkham prison. Again, i know that Vic had the chance to walk away, and he missed it. Oswald murdered him because he thought it might better be that way for Victor before he got killed by someone worse than him or fear that Victor would turn on him one day if Victor continue pushed himself further and end up like Oswald.
I honestly don’t see how a season 2 would work. After this episode I don’t see how we as an audience could ever root for Oz ever again. This ending was so messed up, and that’s what makes it perfect.
OZ made a mistake by killing Victor! Without him he will be dead from the first episode! And poor mom, she told him that she didn't want to end up in vegetables, she got what she wanted but at the same time no it's really scary, the penguin is scary
There's been talk about the difficulties making an 'anti-war' movie or recently an 'anti-incel' movie, with the latest Joker movie bombing because it decided to spend the plot deriding all the fans who were deeply problematic rather than try to make a working film. This is a perfect 'anti-crime', 'crime-doesn't-pay' film, a comic book morality play where the bad guy wins and evolves into comic book accuracy but isn't any happier or cooler for it. An amazing villain, but not so 'cool' that we'd ever root for him against Batman knowing what we know and having seen what we've seen.
The show comments on reality of being a gangster. It is not a descent life. You have to kill, backstab, hustle. The only reward is pleasure and wealth, all short term gains. Oz says their names will be remembered but that is a fantasy gangsters use to justify their actions. The show also comments on how we cannot always judge people by what they appear on the surface. Maybe people are good at hiding who they are. Rex was kind but was he really a good guy? He gave Francis an ultimatum. Give your boy over to us or let us kill him. Always thinking about what benefits him. Oz never did anything kind for free. He got that from Rex and other inspirations.
People are missing the point about the mom thing. He promised her the oe house sure , but he also promised her if she ever turned into a vegetable he would do the right thing and kill her . Sad

A hell of a detail is that Dr Rush is actually the scarecrow to be , don't want to spoil but Vics not dead , he's coming back probably end of session 2 More vicious than ever , we can even have a Penguin- Batman team up to stop organised crime controlled by Vic himself
the thing about this show is penguins motives were WAY to predictable hes a villain shows no remorse no empathy no sympathy. i mean he hordes the things he wants whether that means if it something else hes gotta lose. but in the end he plays his cards well in order for the odds to be in his favor. master manipulator. tbh its tough to see any other villain play this role with those traits after heath ledger. man did the dark knight set the bar so high for batman movies after it.
When Vic and Oz were having that heart-to-heart I was like "dude, you gotta run. The smart money was on you dying in this episode so the fact you're still around is a gift to all of us."....then he said the line about "you're my family" and I knew exactly what was about to happen 😭😭 I can't believe Vic is out here runnin with criminals and he doesn't have a knife on him though 🤷♂ You try str*ngling me you're getting st*bbed. That's just how that's gonna work out. Spoiler alert

Honestly I don't know why ppl are surprised by Vic's death. I knew from early on Oz, only needed Vic to use him. He manipulated him every step of the way because Vic had a void. Like Rex said, he didn't have a father and he needed someone to look up to. It's been clear from the start that Oz is a monster

Sophia was my favorite character of the year. I adore Oz but Sophia was just another level.
I’m hoping she teams up with her sister in The Batman 2. Maybe Selena will be the one to break her sister out, which would put a huge divide between Selena and Bruce.

That letter from Selena probably was like telling Sofia to hang tight and she’s coming to get her. But can’t do it alone since when she tried to take out Carmine he nearly sent her to join her mom. So she got word to Gordon and he sent out the signal. Also Selena worked at the Iceberg Lounge and had to move around and gather info to maybe blackmail Penguin to help her get the money that she says Carmine owes her for what he did to her mom and letting her be sent off to a children’s home. Selena maybe has the info that Penguin (or Carmine) is the real Hangman. And maybe in the end of The Batman 2 they also frame him for the explosion at Crown Point and he’s sent off to Arkham. Sofia gets feee and Penguin gets both set up for crimes he didn’t commit & sent to Arkham like he did to Sofia along with the crimes he did commit.
He promised her he would kill her if she ever went in that state but he lied thats why see dropped that tear 💯

I believe Oz losing his mother, after the last thing she told him was how much she hated him and stabbing him, Oz was done with love and caring. Him killing Victor was him abandoning any good he had left. And thus, completing his arc as The Penguin we all knew.

Victor wasn't shot. yes, he was chocked out and so we assume he is dead. Although there could be a chance someone saw or found him soon after. And once Oswald left maybe he could have been resuscitated. Now, I am not sure why he could be brought back for a potential session 2. But there is still a possibility.

This show was all fun and games, cool to watch but this episode was really dark and made me sad. But the Batsignal at the end is what I needed, a symbol of hope.

Oz won by using all the manipulative skills and lies he can put on his enemies. In the way i see it, he can kill someone easily like Alberto and Vic but miss the chance to kill Sal and Sofia. I know that Sal got himself a heart attack to death, leaving Oswald in disappointment. While for Sofia, Oz thought the only hell he could give to her was to make Sofia live her life in Arkham prison. Again, i know that Vic had the chance to walk away, and he missed it. Oswald murdered him because he thought it might better be that way for Victor before he got killed by someone worse than him or fear that Victor would turn on him one day if Victor continue pushed himself further and end up like Oswald.

There's been talk about the difficulties making an 'anti-war' movie or recently an 'anti-incel' movie, with the latest Joker movie bombing because it decided to spend the plot deriding all the fans who were deeply problematic rather than try to make a working film. This is a perfect 'anti-crime', 'crime-doesn't-pay' film, a comic book morality play where the bad guy wins and evolves into comic book accuracy but isn't any happier or cooler for it.
An amazing villain, but not so 'cool' that we'd ever root for him against Batman knowing what we know and having seen what we've seen.
The show comments on reality of being a gangster. It is not a descent life. You have to kill, backstab, hustle. The only reward is pleasure and wealth, all short term gains. Oz says their names will be remembered but that is a fantasy gangsters use to justify their actions. The show also comments on how we cannot always judge people by what they appear on the surface. Maybe people are good at hiding who they are. Rex was kind but was he really a good guy? He gave Francis an ultimatum. Give your boy over to us or let us kill him. Always thinking about what benefits him. Oz never did anything kind for free. He got that from Rex and other inspirations.
People are missing the point about the mom thing. He promised her the oe house sure , but he also promised her if she ever turned into a vegetable he would do the right thing and kill her . Sad
In the end, Penguin is still a bad guy

the thing about this show is penguins motives were WAY to predictable hes a villain shows no remorse no empathy no sympathy. i mean he hordes the things he wants whether that means if it something else hes gotta lose. but in the end he plays his cards well in order for the odds to be in his favor. master manipulator. tbh its tough to see any other villain play this role with those traits after heath ledger. man did the dark knight set the bar so high for batman movies after it.
When Vic and Oz were having that heart-to-heart I was like "dude, you gotta run. The smart money was on you dying in this episode so the fact you're still around is a gift to all of us."....then he said the line about "you're my family" and I knew exactly what was about to happen 😭😭
