    Thanks! This helps a lot. I had been using two hands to unplug before: One to hold the handle and the other the adapter. I knew there had to be a better way! The Tesla locks the charge port only a second or two after pressing the button, so you definitely have to be quick when unplugging it.

    Just another example of me underestimating how intelligent the Tesla products are, I never would have guessed that the adapter had a sensor for when the external locking mechanism was unlocked. Wild stuff. Thanks for the helpful video.

      The adapter doesn't have sensors in it. Pressing the button on the J1772 handle alters the proximity signal, which EV's use to know when the driver is trying to unplug. If the Tesla detects that, it unlocks the charge port.

    I have a Tesla ordered and will get it soon. I already have a J1772 evse; is there a way I can open the Tesla's charging door without having the car unlocked ?

    My J1772 supports a continuous 32amp output. Do I have to do anything on the Tesla or will it self adjust to receive 32amp? My grandson just got a Model 3 and will be visiting. I would like to give him a few electrons while he's here...

    Thank you!!! I did it right! I wasn't sure. I was looking for a manual and couldn't find it!!!

    FYI, the manual tell you to plug the adapter into the car first and then plug the charging cable in.

    well, this is very easy to understand. Press the button to stop the charge, then pull a whole thing out.

    Is the J1771 adapter still needed? Will the CSS adapter make the J1772 obsolete?

    The Tesla gave you some sass when it put the red light on and aggressively closed it's flap.

    Would you recomend for or against using a J1772 charing station as the primary home charger for your Tesla?

    • @hyperthreaders
      @hyperthreaders  2 года назад

      Nothing wrong with j1772 as primary home charger, if your using it outdoors just make sure it’s firmly inserted and you will be good.

    Some a-hole stuck his adapter to a public free J1772 charger. I don’t know if he intentionally did this or not but now no one besides a Tesla can charge there! great!

    Do you still have to unlock the charge port and stop charging, or is that done when you hit the button
