  • Sam takes a quick look at the Casio CDP-S100 digital piano, check it out here: www.pmtonline....
    Watch our full "Top 6 Beginner's Digital Pianos & Keyboards" video here: • Top 6 Digital Pianos F...
    The S100 features Casio’s 88 note Scaled Hammer Action II keyboard, scaled being another word for graded, meaning it offers the authentic weighting of an acoustic piano, heavier at one end and lighter at the other, and the keys themselves feel really luxurious with their ebony or ivory texture.
    There’s 10 great sounding tones onboard, the usual pianos, organs and strings etc, and these are projected out through a pair of rear firing speakers or via a headphone socket for silent practice. The piano comes supplied with a sustain pedal and detachable music rest, and there’s also USB connectivity that’s compatible with android or iOS devices, so you can access tuition apps including Casios free Chordana Play app, which is definitely worth checking out if you buy one of these.
    The Casio CDP-S100 features a a 3.5mm auxillary audio input, so you can connect your phone, tablet or mp3 player allowing you to play songs and backing tracks through the internal speakers. It’s also the only one of our full size 88 note pianos that can also run on batteries, 6 AAs to be exact, and the give you up to 13 hours playing time.
    Combine this with it’s slimline design and the fact that it’s also the lightest of the 88 note models, weighing just 10.5 kilos, and you’ve got a really portable and versatile keyboard, an ideal busking piano.

      @degz hey :), I've got a quick question if you don't mind. For how long have you played the piano/keyboard before you bought the Casio CDP-S100? (Just curious) I'm really considering to buy the Casio or something like a Roland FP-10

    • @degzeeboi

      @@Milo-piano *I've been playing since 2014, so 6 years :) Id played mostly on 66key midis, but had Spent alot of time at both school and college playing on the bigger full sized keyboards, a large variety of expensive yamahas like the p125 and a few Ydp models. The Cdp s100 is the first hammer action keyboard I've ever owned, and found it sounded and felt alot better than the hammer action keyboards ive played before. I've never played on a roland, I've heard they have the best keyboards you can get. Fp10 was what I actually originally intended to get but the price was a bit high for what I wanted. So I can't really tell you if the fp10 is better or not but if you want to keep more money in your pocket I would go for the cdp s100 :)*

    • @vccranker
      @vccranker 4 года назад +1

      I was too. This sort of thing messed with my head. Reading all the comments on that website. But some things thing I noticed: Most of these types of comments are on that website. To be fair, I saw these comments regarding popular models of all major brands. Often items are sold as 'new' but in fact are not. Next, I suspect many of these keyboards are damaged in transit. (The one that died after an hour for example, was probably on the brink when it arrived.) Hopefully this helps at least a little.
      I got a Roland thru Costco because of their incredible return policy, however, Costco sold out of them, so now I know I cannot swap for another if I have any issues. So I got a Yamaha thru Costco, but guess what. Same thing. Sold out. Not only that, the wife thought it sounded a bit muffled. So she wanted to get the more expensive model, but I say, why should we have to throw $300 more at the Yamaha to get it louder and clearer?
      So I picked up one of these CDP-S100's and I've come full circle. For the current sale price (at Guitar Center) I can buy two and a half of these for the price of the Yamaha P-125 or Roland FP-30. I'm not sure what Casio's warranty is, but the better the warranty, the more confidence the company has in their own product. What did you end up getting? : - )

    • @gianmarcoorsini3346
      @gianmarcoorsini3346 4 года назад +1

      Remember that such technical issues are peculiar and you're almost always covered by a warranty! Worst case scenario you will return it and get a new one or get your money back, especially on amazon

    • @vccranker
      @vccranker 4 года назад +1

      @@gianmarcoorsini3346 Of course with Amazon you have 30 days, right? Costco typically much longer. They ended up taking the Roland back after a month and a half, because the keys were starting to rattle / click. Not all, and not all the time, but fairly predictably and it was disconcerting.

      USB is faster. 5-pin was already considered obsolete by the 80s, but music gear was forced to use it because companies had a bunch of leftovers, and MIDI happened to be a new technology, meaning it was really easy to get music gear to use 5-pin DIN ports than already-established fields that would be hard to persuade.

    I've bought one.. i have a Yamaha p125... The action is not bad, the keys .. the texture so much better than that if the p125.. three commands.. so intuitive, keyboard's both slow... Almost at 50% of the p125.. the rest is in the court of Yamaha.. Action is better, the sounds are overwhelmingly better, the p125 is more panko like (my p125 has a very annoying low c key.. way lower than the surrounding keys)

      all you need (to get a "clean" sound) is a jack to jack cable and an audio interface like Focusrite to connect the piano with the laptop and there you go ! For the recording app you can use Pro Tools or any DAW

      Basically have to try for yourself to find that out. Assuming thats not an option then it seems The Casio is getting the most praise and compliments.

    • @vccranker
      @vccranker 4 года назад +1

      @@mmhcreates MMTW's suggestion is excellent. Barring that, I think the Roland is excellent, but so real that there may be a period of adjustment, unless you are coming from an upright acoustic. The P-45 / P-125 are the same I believe and feel more like a grand piano (lighter), but also excellent. I found that on the P-45 (at least the one I had), the volume had to often be turned way up, and the wife felt that the sound on it was a bit muffled. The sound on the Cdp-S100 sounds clear, but the wife thought it sounded a little tinny. Sheesh. lol

      @@eyesofvenus Well... most modern digital pianos have both USB and Midi I/O.
      Thing is, I was looking for a good piano (light to carry around) to use just as MIDI controller.
      So that I can play sounds from a more advanced synth via MIDI I/O.
      I generally use midi USB just for PC connections... but I might be wrong about it.

  • @giuseppediana1981
    @giuseppediana1981 9 месяцев назад

    Sustain effect is extremely short and dry. It's definitely far from the return of a real acoustic piano, and it's long lasting vibrations. I tested it yesterday on a gig for the first time, and it left me an utterly unsatisfactory sensation. As much as I tried to give details and colors in playing, the piano cut everything.
    I wouldn't buy it again, if I could.
