Finally more street food and hawker stalls! Glad to be seeing these type of videos eventho I can't go to them 😂
Hey Zafran! Welcome back haha! Yes we were actually trying hawkers and street food but it takes a while as we visit multiple spots for multiple times before concluding which we find to be the best 😂
Also apologies for not coming up with more Muslim friendly spots, we’re actually trying a few Malay Cuisine spots but with MCO 3 possibly looming it might need to wait for a bit 😅
If you have any spots you would like to recommend definitely tell us! We are super excited to try it once our schedule allows hehe! Have a great weekend and stay safe!
Also, Selamat Hari Raya in advance!!! 😁
For me, Uncle Keong's hokkien mee with homemade wantan noodles are the BEST!!!
Hello Dr Mel, Uncle Keong’s Hokkien Mee is indeed decent hehe! 😋
Curry mee is my favourite! Loving the malaysia videos!! Subscribed to you guys!
Hi there! Glad you’ve enjoyed this vlog! We love Curry Mee too! Thanks for the support & see you in the next one! 😉
Well done! One of the best food review done by local Malaysian. Keep up the good work
Thank you so much for the kind remark! Glad you enjoyed this Food Vlog, see you in the next one! 😬
Quite often i come here. Well their curry mee considered one of KL's better one. I would reccomend Uncle Keong's punchy prawn mee noodles. Good food with reasonable prices.
Agree with the Prawn Mee, one of the better Prawn Mee in Klang Valley too!
As a Singaporean, had to admit Malaysia street food r far better then our SG hawker food....reason most of them r on this trade for dockey yrs n usually r family business whereas SG version r too commercial n usually run by employee, u think they will work 100% for u??? 😁😂🤭
Hey there! Nice vid on the curry mee. You may also want try 森记 curry mee in Keng Nam Hai coffee shop, beside Aeon Kepong. One of the nice curry mee I had in KL 🙃
Hello Jenson, thanks for the kind remark as well as the recommendation! We will definitely try it out when we can hehe🤤
Glad you enjoyed this Food Vlog! Stay safe and see you in the next one!
Thank you for your latest episode of Uncle Keong's Laksa. I really enjoyed the video following every slip you take, I feel as though I am actually eating it. For my next visit to KL, I would like to try this. Could you please advise the closest MRT/LTR/Kmuter so I can get a Grab from there. Thank you
Hello Ronnie, glad you enjoyed this Food Adventure! We try our best to make you feel as much of the food through the screen 😋. We think for this spot the KTM at Mid Valley is probably the closest, then you will need to take a Grab from there, as Uncle Keong is still quite a ways from Mid Valley, probably a 10-15 minutes drive from Mid Valley 😁
@@TheGourmetPlate Thank you.
Enjoy ur reviews and quality content! Keep it up! Can't wait to try this stall out.
Hello Timothy! Thanks for your compliment! Glad you enjoyed this Food Adventure! 😋
Hi.I met you many times in a Japanese restaurant in Mid Valley and Sorry,I didn't know you are from The Gourmet in RUclips.
Anyway, you are doing a great show.Keep up the good job.
Hi Henry! Going to guess that restaurant starts with a “Y”? 😆
Nice to meet you & thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed this Food Adventure and see you in the next one! 😬
hey hey
noticed u hv tried sun ying loong in pj.
but r u sure its much better than syl?????
the ingredients look basic
pls reply
hv u tried 747 down the road syl?
Hi Justin, thanks for dropping by! At the time of our filming Uncle Keong’s curry does have better depth and flavour layer compared to SYL. For us the main focus of a curry laksa lies in the broth which SYL despite being decent & accompanied with ingredients lacks 😉
We’ve not tried 747 laksa, we did try their wan tan mee though haha 😂
Try JC Curry mee at Jalan Ipoh Batu 5. Ying Chea Best curry mee❤next stall to Keng Nam Hai kopitiam.
Hey folks!! Great review... here's another hidden gem...
There's a coffee shop in Bandar Sri Damansara called Sunny Coffee Shop... you'll find a curry noodles stall in the restaurant that would blow your mind away... would love to meet you guys there for makan!!
Hello Gerard, thanks for the kind remark & recommendation! Sounds like an awesome Curry Mee spot! Let’s hope we flatten that curve so that we can all go enjoy some street food again 😋
@@TheGourmetPlate till then stay safe folks
Stay safe!
Looks awesome! We can’t wait to try it!
Hope you’ll enjoy this as much as we do 😬
For curry me, you can try a corner coffee at SS13, near the football field. One of the best in town. Make sure you go early.
Hi Dennis, thanks for the recommendation, by SS13 Curry Mee did you mean Restoran Kum Chuan? If so, we’ve tried it haha 😊
@@TheGourmetPlate I must try the one that you recommended also, look 👍
Would recommend you to try the mix curry+asam laksa in O&S restaurant (pj) ?😋
Hello Kayson, we’ve tried the Curry Laksa & O&S but never tried it mixed haha, do they sell it mixed too?
@@TheGourmetPlate it’s not on the menu but you can order Curry Laksa and request to mix with Assam laksa soup. It’s like the best of two worlds! (IMHO)😄
Okok gotta try!
There is a good curry laksa stall at TTDI. I can’t remember the coffee shop’s name. It’s next to Dotty’s Pastries. The stall also serves quite a good fish head noodle. U can check it out
Hello Hook Leong Wong, I believe it's Kedai Kopi Kuan Lee? We went recently and noticed the fish head noodle stall seems to have changed owners ( could be wrong) as the cheerful lady wasn’t manning the stall. We do drop by frequently for their mix rice though 😋
Will take note and try the lady’s curry laksa next time if she’s still manning it! Thanks for the recommendation!
Come to Penang after MCO for curry mee, there's a few famous ones here.
Hi David, absolutely! Haven’t been to Penang for a while, can’t wait 🤤 Any recommendations?
can order via Grab Food?
Hello there, we're not too sure...can probably check on Grab haha!
Very well articulated!
Hello Sean, glad you enjoyed this Food Adventure! See you in the next one!
@Eddie VVP Thanks for the kind remark Eddie, glad you enjoyed this Food Vlog, hope to see you in the next one!
Very good reviewer...im getting hungry after watching you eat. Perhaps you should also try uncle john's award winning malacca curry laksa at lima puloh baba can cook ...we await your review....
Hello Lim Chua, Wei Loon here, thanks for the kind remark! 😁 I've had the Nyonya Laksa at Lima Puloh about a year back, recalled it to be rather decent but flavour on the broth dissipates a little too quickly to leave a lasting impression. That said it could've been an "off" day for them though, will definitely drop by again when MCO 3.0 loosens and we can all dine in again 😀
Thanks for watching our Food Vlog and glad you enjoyed it! Hope to see you in the next one! 😋
Nyonya laksa and Curry laksa are two different things. Authentic Nyonya laksa uses no Curry powder. All spices pounded into a sambal.
@@eclipsexoxoxox i agree with chris....i did not say nyonya n curry laksa are the same..just invited the reviewer to try out nyonya laksa at limapuloh after mco and write a review. You cannot compare oranges with apples, can you?
Hey peeps, yes totally agree they are different dishes, the comment was based on a Nyonya Laksa dish instead of a Curry Laksa. Hope that clears the confusion 😬
Try Uncle Teo curry laksa with pork skin, char siew, sui kaw, fish cake, etc.
Hello there, thanks for the recommendation, will try it out when we can 😬. Is it Uncle Teo Curry Wan Tan Mee in Shah Alam?
There's one at Jalan Ipoh...quite well-known..they've been operating at the same place since mid 70s...(am now in my 50s) one of the best curry mee in town (古早味)...good old authentic taste...the broth is kinda red-orange color...using fresh coconut...BUT very bad customer service (they really don't care if you come back or not...they know they can never run out of customers and so they can be arrogant)...very long wait...and also expensive with small portion and little "liu" 料...the broth itself is about 8/10...but if you put other negative things like poor service and long waiting time together..minus 2-3 points..so, 5-.6/10...this is why i haven't be back since 20yrs ago...but it is still there...another good one is Volcano curry mee at Mun Kee Food Court, Happy Garden...the curry fragrance is best, with fresh coconut milk too...so it's more to orange color...also with mint leaves...8/10
Hello there, thanks for the recommendations! Will definitely check the spots out! Hope you enjoyed this Food Vlog and see you in the next one!
@@TheGourmetPlate One advice to you, young people, is that without trying all the eateries in Pudu, you can't say you've tried all in KL. For good local authentic Chinese hawker cuisine, Pudu is the best, beating all others combined by far (others such as the whole Kepong with Jinjiang included, the regions of OUG-Sri Petaling-Jalan Klang Lama-Kuchai Lama, Serdang, Cheras, PJ, and etc...Puchong is worst coz there are no main branches originated from there)...Pudu is perhaps the only place you'd see many old Chinese uncles and aunties still cooking for decades... almost everything there is good...ICC Pudu foodcourt is the first place to begin..then slowly you go from there...those old shops or kopitiams..for Pudu alone, you can easily make videos of tens of episodes...
Thanks for your kind comment. We frequent Pudu and ICC is a spot we visit often. Pudu has some good food for sure, (Little Eat Stall, Huen Kee, Yik See Ho, Restoran Tian Tian Lai, Restoran Zai Kee, Teochew Lao Er etc...) but to say it’s the best by virtue of being “old” would be an overly bold statement to say the least 😉
We mentioned we tried most if not all the current popular Curry Laksa spots (we also tried the ICC Pudu curry laksa but it wasn’t listed 😉, in fact, we’ve also tried the Jalan Ipoh outlet years ago but not recently) 😀
That said, we still appreciate your advice. Just wanted to clarify that we do eat often at Pudu as Quet is from that area 😬
Hello Foodies! After trying out 15 Curry Laksa stalls we've finally found what we think serves the BEST Curry Laksa in Klang Valley & it all lies in the broth!

Sounds alot like Fei Por Curry Mee Cheras bro. My current #1. Must try both pork ribs and chicken curry mee. Thanks for sharing this, will go haunt soon.
Awesome! We’ve heard of Fei Por Curry Mee but didn’t get to try it, will definitely try it out! Thanks for recommending!
@@TheGourmetPlate also friends that live near the area say must try their chap fan, and must have their hailam tea or coffee both super good 👍
Sounds like a huge Food Adventure hehe! Gotta try em all!
@@TheGourmetPlate lol actually when u go there, youll see more people eat their chapfan than their curry mee 🤣
did you guys wonder where i was hahaha sorry i was a bit swamped on sunday, i only got to watch this but not comment. of course, i loved it lol. how did you guys find out about this place?
Hey Sparkz! Welcome back! Yes we were wondering where you went hehehe, glad to have you back and hope your Sunday wasn't too bad 😉
Glad you loved this Adventure! This spot is actually shared by a trusted Foodie so kudos to him hehehe! By the way we have a rather massive Food Adventure coming this Sunday, hope you will enjoy that one! 😋
Have you tried 'only u' at glenmarie?
Hello KJ, no we haven't. Is there some awesome Curry Laksa for us to find there? Cant wait to try hehehe, does the stall have a name?
I think it's a hidden gem left untouched. I think they deserve a shout out.
@@kokjinus Awesome! Definitely trying it out once mco relaxes and we can cross districts! Thanks for the recommendation! We've actually heard foodies recommending their Prawn noodles too, guess we will try all their stuff hahaha!
@@TheGourmetPlate thanks for the quick reply. looking forward to your independent and honest review on this hidden gem
@@kokjinus Thanks for the confidence haha!
In my state specifically in southern Malaysia. Mee curry or laksa is totally different type of broth..
That’s interesting! Do share how yours differ hahaha, we’re all here to learn 😀
Campurkan dgn limau kasturi perhhhhh, padu bebbbb
Hee hee ..padu apa?? Tak halal la*****,,😂😂😂
Do you try the cury noodle at Chan sawblin
Hello William, yes, we have tried Girl & Mommy Curry Mee from Chan Sow Lin. It was a decent bowl 😉
Do u do delivery?
Hey Violet, I'm guessing the "u" means Uncle Keong Noodle Stall?😂
Not sure if they do as we've always dined in. Probably best to dine in too(for the best flavours). Guess we'll all have to wait till MCO3.0 ends hahaha! Till then, we can help you with feasting...with your eyes...😝
@@TheGourmetPlate Wish they would consider delivery during this MCO 😅
Austin Power doing curry mee review. Yeah baby yeah😆
Hey Minimalist, Wei Loon here! Hope I’m a slightly better looking Austin Powers hahaha 😜
Thanks for dropping by, hope you enjoyed this Food Adventure!
@@TheGourmetPlate the best curry mee in town is located inside the pudu wet market. Opens from 8pm onwards.
@@TheRed86 Hello, do you happen to have the name? Will go try it out when our shcedule allows!
@@TheGourmetPlate no name. There is only one stall in the market at night.
@@TheRed86 Ah Okay, will definitely go check it out when we can hehe! Thanks for recommending!
As far as I know uncle keong prawn noodle is more famous then his curry noodle
Hello Chunyin, that’s true. However we find his Curry Laksa to be the best we’ve had. Prawn Noodle is very decent too! 😋
Ah Boy,no Siham already kalah la but no matter how U enjoyed!!!
Bro the way you slurp your noodles is like using a Dyson vacuum cleaner
Well, it depends on which model of Dyson you’re referring to 😏
Good job

nice one...subs to your channel....
Thanks for the Sub & welcome to on board the Gourmet Plate Train! Glad you enjoyed this Food Vlog & hope to see you in the next one! 😁
time stamp 8:24 "the noodles are overcooked." not really, the yellow noodles has been soaking up the broth. you took 10minutes+ gvg yr review. think stall Owner gv you a nicely cooked curry mee.
Hi Ku San, when we got the noodles we took 30 seconds for 3 normal angle shots, then we tried noodles on the side to confirm the texture. It arrived overcooked (which is common in hawker scenes of Malaysia). We only slotted the comment in later for a smoother video transition for viewers.
We’ve also visited this place a few times before this particular filming and on all occasions Noodles were at least a tad overcooked on arrival. Hope that clarifies the situation 😉
Laksa and curry mee is totally different things...
Hello Lim Tak, the view on the definition of Laksa isn't the clearest. If we were to refer it to Hindi/Persian "lakhshah" then it would mean Vermicelli & we might not call Curry Mee as Laksa. However, there is also a view that it came from the Chinese word "辣沙", which means “spicy sand” and in this case, the phrase Curry Laksa applies.
Of course, there are many types of Laksa, but ultimately we generalise it into 2 types, Curry Laksa which we find mainly in KL, and Asam Laksa which is a Spicy & Sour Fish Broth from Penang.
Kuala Lumpur people actually call Curry Mee as Curry Laksa, whereas Nothern Malaysian folks call it Curry Mee. So it is in our view that it can be used interchangeably since it refers to the same thing.
Hope this clarifies any confusion 😬
Wei loon is so good
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you’ve enjoyed this vlog & see you in the next one! 😉
Come try at my stall...would love to see Ur rating...lol
Hello Jiahui, do let us know where your stall is located at, we would absolutely love to visit when our schedule frees up. Cheers! 😙

P.S: Quet will be in the next Episode 😁
ha me laksa ?! is call kali mee la in penang ... ayo ...
Hi Alex, actually in KL we call it Curry Laksa 😉, we do know that northern Malaysians call it Curry Mee to distinguish from Asam Laksa
Luv their prawn nee.
Hello Ricky, we do agree, they serve a rather decent Prawn Mee 😬. Hope you enjoyed this Food Adventure and see you in the next one!

Awww, we have some halal Food Vlogs too 🥲 so do hang with us hehe!
@@TheGourmetPlate cool...
The colour look dull
agree. 1 look at it doesn't seem appetizing
Probably due to lack of colour from ingredients 😂, but broth is the best balanced we’ve tried so far!
Thanks for watching our Food Adventure! Hope you enjoyed this video and see you in the next one!
First of all, the quality of food hygiene is too bad! The chef has no basic hygiene knowledge to touch food with his bare hands. The storage of various tableware and ingredients is even worse. This bowl of noodle soup looks very muddy. Seasoning may be dirty。
Hello Simon, Wei Loon here. First of all, thanks for dropping by🙂 . As far as we see it, this applies to most, if not all hawker scene/street food scene in Malaysia, or shall I be able to say, south east asia? The key isn't bare hands, rather, are the hands clean, and I would believe that they are 😬. For the "Muddy" soup and dirty seasoning...No, that's how a Curry Laksa looks...you can't possibly get a clear broth out of a good bowl of Curry Laksa, it's all due to the spices added into the mix to create a nice consistency. Hope that clears the confusion 😉
Hello boy please comb your hair
Hi Paperplane, contrary to popular belief, I’ve actually combed my hair... it just looks like this hahaha 😆. Got any stylist to recommend? 😏
