    My vet refuses to show me how to do it on my own… it’s really frustrating and upsetting because they are always completely booked out and I would need to make an appointment a month in advance! Well life gets hectic at times and I don’t always remember to make the appointment, plus it is not a set schedule but random when she needs them expressed (noticing her behavior and smell).
    Anyway, thank you so much for this educational video as it may help me with my dog, her health, and quality of life! Much appreciated! 🐾❤️

    Professionally trained in Ohio oh some 100 yrs ago...we did not do the internal way you did. Nice to learn that. Also we didn't have a big problem with the mess or odor. We drained it in the bath sink with water running full flow. All dogs get a sanitized bath so. All areas cleaned after each dog. No exceptions...and yes that is some nasty juice. Good presentation. Well done!!

    Hi..thank you for your very informative video.. I have an 11.05 lb half Chihuahua half Pekingese lap dog and I have tried and tried watched many videos on how to and bought gloves and used lubricant ..but cannot insert my finger.. I'm a gal and I have small fingers but I can't get more than the very tip to go in.. and expressing them from outside doesn't work either.. we took him to a groomer several times and she could only get out a little.. she said she knew there was more and couldn't get it all .. we took him to a different groomer today and she got out a ton.. it squirted on and on.. luckily I guess it wasn't impacted.. Should I force my finger in when a lot of pressure won't work..should I just push with force?

    • @fullcirclevetcare
      @fullcirclevetcare  10 лет назад +4

      For safety reasons, you should never use force to do this. Please consult your veterinarian; they should be able to show you in person how to safely express your dog's anal glands.

    Is there any particular brand of lubricant I should use? I was told it just needs to be sterile lubricant. Is there any particular type of glove I should use? Any particular brand or material? For example, latex vs vinyl. Is it possible for dogs to be allergic to either material? If so, then how would I know if my dog is? Do the gloves need to be sterile or non-sterile?
    I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but my dog has sensitive skin. She's a longhaired miniature dachshund. She's on a strict diet that's hypoallergenic and is formulated to promote a urinary environment that reduces the risk of developing struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. She also only uses hypoallergenic shampoo when getting a bath. Therefore, what kind of dog perfume/cologne would you recommend using?
    What do wolves and wild dogs do about their anal glands, if humans aren't emptying them?
