The village my parents grew up in was a village like this. And we stayed there in summer for 6 weeks every year when I was young, staying with a grandma or or an aunt, playing with my cousins, cycling to the seaside. When I hear rthis song, it al comes back to me. At the funeral of my cousin this was played. He was only 50 y.o.

André van Duin is the best comedian of the Netherlands, everyone knows him, young (i'm 16 but a lot of people my age don't) and old, he stopped with doing it but he still presents some shows on tv, he is a great comedian, but when he sings songs like these, he is very serious. More people my age should know him for what he achieved.
I grew up with the comedy of Andre van Duin, he was a huge star, think MrBean soft of famous here. Every kid and adult knew him and his sketch shows but he indeed also has a lovely warm voice suitable to this song.
In the first years of André's success as a comedian many people thought that kind of entertainment was vulgar, he wasn't seen as the talent and the wonderful person that he is. But nowadays I guess he has a warm place in about everyone's heart in the Netherlands.
This song is about the village I live. It is in the southeast of the Netherlands..... The father of the translator of this song was a doctor in this village. The village is called Deurne....
This is a well know, old song. It’s not originally by Andre but by Wim Sonneveld. Just like Flappie, every Dutchman knows this song by heart. Goosebumps every time I heart it.
Tears start rolling each 'n every time I hear the first notes of this masterpiece. And eventhough it's actually a cover of a French chanson (La Montagne by Jean Farret) , it now belongs to the unsurpassed Wim Sonneveld and the Dutch people in general, not my words but those of Farret. Edit: Thanks for reacting to this and thanks to whoever 'Anonymous' may be for requesting this, the fact even Highly get's semi-emotional by this makes me feel a lil' less of a wuss.
Andre's version was really good but yes.... Wim Sonneveld's version was and still is the definitive version. I was a kid when I first heard it and even then the wistful melancholy touched me. with thanks from Belgium

De rust, de samenhorigheid en de tijd voor de kleine mooie dingen als een rij oude bomen en een mooi kapelletje.
I lived in this vilage Deurne the house is stil there
It was my mothers favourite!😘
andre van duin always takes me back to a time when my uncle took me to the Revu as a little girl that's where my love for him started beautiful song pure enjoyment
A beautiful legendary song very well interpreted by André. Sometimes i want this old times to come back like in this song.
Tears to see this my father has left earth a year ago but beautiful to hear 🤗
i can't listen to this song without crying. I've heard this on the funerals from my grandparents 😢 many people are crying because this song is one you heard a lot on funerals.
These nights were absolutely awesome! There are 8000 people on the square, 3000 around the square in the restaurants. Most of them were crying when he sang (or crying with laughter because he sang more than just this song)
Andre van Duin is such a genuine, humble person. I worked there and asked him to take a picture with me after the concert because my Grandpa was a big fan of him and was in the hospital back then. Next week he saw me again and he asked how my grandpa was doing!
when i was about 6 i saw this version of this song, sung by Wim Sonneveld (check out how similar their voices are) im from Amsterdam so nothing of this song was known to me in the netherlands but my mom was from a small village in austria so from there i did understand. my mother found me in front of the tv crying big tears and i never can listen to this song without crying ever since, highly thanks for sharing so much of my country
André van Duin... I would call him a national treasure.
I am 68 and I was always forward looking, anticipating modernity, new things and new emotions. But still, this song speaks to me I can relate.
My father always referred to 'the poor old days". Because that's what it was.
I love André van Duin, such a kind and talented guy..
I love this song reminder me of my father he died .when he was 42 .and i was 15 years oké. Thanks fore this video and reaction
❤️🙏😘
@@dianebaven2457 thank you.
@@veroniquekamer-meyer4051 I know the pain….😘
@@dianebaven2457 i am so sorry, fore youre lost 😔❤ .
@@veroniquekamer-meyer4051 and I for yours, must have been hard times for you.I have given it a a place but my life was never the same again, after he died, I see him in my children and comfort myself with this and the fun memories of him ❤️🙏
Partly because of this song I am so very proud of my country, the netherlands
André van Duin is the best comedian of the Netherlands, everyone knows him, young (i'm 16 but a lot of people my age don't) and old, he stopped with doing it but he still presents some shows on tv, he is a great comedian, but when he sings songs like these, he is very serious. More people my age should know him for what he achieved.
Listening to André van Duin and André Rieu? 😲 Time to pack your stuff and move your butt over here asap. Now, you're official a Dutchman. 😁🤣
I grew up with the comedy of Andre van Duin, he was a huge star, think MrBean soft of famous here. Every kid and adult knew him and his sketch shows but he indeed also has a lovely warm voice suitable to this song.
I am crying.
🙏💐🧚♀️🧚♀️🍀😇
I remember. Very touching.
The man did not do one negative thing in his life.
just a fun fact the arena holds 71k visitors for concerts and 55,5 seats during other type of festivals or socker/ football
In the first years of André's success as a comedian many people thought that kind of entertainment was vulgar, he wasn't seen as the talent and the wonderful person that he is. But nowadays I guess he has a warm place in about everyone's heart in the Netherlands.
This song makes you think about the old days. The time you got an orange for your birthday instead of a PS5.
Beautyful! You should watch a concert of André Rieu. He makes classics music easy tot listen to ,all over the world.
Try Andre van Duin with the song Heidezangers , he plays all the persons, by himself
Obrigada,HXC.
Fantástico.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ow yes!!!! I love this one!!!! 🥰 I love this song but this version is sooooo beautiful. Nice you watched this one! 🥳
Thanks, HXC, for taking us back in time. Truly love ❤️your channel 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇳🇱
Listen to the original sang in 1974 by Wim Sonneveld.
Goosebumps every time I heart it.
unironically the best selling dutch artist world wide, Rieu i mean.
the original song was written in 1965
Wim Sonneveld wrote this song already in 1974! Now we are 47 years further in time and it is not getting better in anyway how the world is changed...
Netherlands us gone, the government screwed us
Tears start rolling each 'n every time I hear the first notes of this masterpiece.
I was a kid when I first heard it and even then the wistful melancholy touched me.
with thanks
from Belgium
He is the best comedy artist ever live till now and i think the best we ever have in the Netherlands look more of his video's
Hi, I was wondering what your connection is with the Netherlands? It's so cool you spend so much energie in your vids, and I love it. Thank you for that!
Andre van Duin made us laugh but he can also make you cry. Last may he did the speech on ww2 rememberday (dodenherdenking). It was so beautiful. I don't know if you can find it on RUclips🤷🏻♀️. It's worth listening to.
So beautiful 🤩
