I heard the Bari sax through the alto solo and everything I forgot how loud the Bari can play when I played this is my band it was loud so the Bari can be played softer my band director told me
Playing this in band as a bassoon, trying ti gauge how well you can hear the bassoon part during the slow part. I think the bassoons in this are just really quiet, hopefully, because if this is the truth the baris will be overwhelming everyone 😭 (no hate to this band, btw, yall sound GREAT)
I’m going to say it now, option many snare drums. Should one person on each part for percussion, percussion should support the band not over take it. Conductor should find who is the best at each and out them there, or someone else. Just one for each. People have to sit out sometimes, can’t always play.
I agree 4 snares and tambourines is too much. My band we have a large section of 10 percussionist an we will have about two snares per song then have more people in mallets than usually just so people sit out but one song we are playing has two percussion parts so we do
Nope, the size of this band warranted the number of percussion instruments played. It was a perfect balance. I am an accompanist at a Middle School and work two hours with band kids. You NEVER ask them to ‘sit out’ EVER! You find a part for them ad they play, it’s why they are in band and learning music.
As a bassoonist, you can’t hear their part at all. The part you’re hearing is probably the bari saxes & bass clarinet. During the saxophone solo (or soli) the bassoons have a COMPLETELY different parr from the baris and bass clarinet. And when it was the bassoons during the second snapping part (after the slowed part) all you could hear was the timpani, which is playing the same part as them there, at the same part, at the least.
I'm the only bass drum kid i ever see in the comments of these videos
