Remember playing this in eight grade. At the end, flutes did seven measures of trilling. No breath in between. We were...very much dead at the end of the song.
Real, the 7th grade we have for our band is amazing at doing it. Also am I the only one who feels like the trombone soli should have had more people playing the lower octive part.
Its hard to master this song because of the different components to it, almost every junior high does it so dont worry. Also its not a festival song so dont stress about that either.
It's good to know that band geeks have fun even after they grow up. I miss being in band more than I realized when I dropped it in high school for a study hall.
Band director: alright low brass theres a section for you in here Tubas: oh cool maybe well get some good par- Trombones: Ha tubas you dont get melody par- Baritones: ill be takin that melody thank you very much.
We played this a few months ago for our concert.. I'm in 9th grade and play bassoon.. Most of everyone in the band hates this song, but I actually like it
Came to see trombones playing a part similar to mine and I guess my band director must just hate me cause my part seems to have more to it than literally every other trombone part. 😂😂
Here's a story that no one asked for :) I remember this year's band concert and we were playing at the same concert as the 7th and 8th grade band. We prepared before going on stage and the director asked them to play the beginning of this song and the part where the train speeds up sounded so scary for some reason and my anxiety started tingling :) Also I play a clarinet
I played this in high school in the early 2000's We performed this song in pitch black with only a flash light pointed at our sheet music, the hat we put on looked kind of like a hard hat, it was to give the audience the train/tunnel look I reckon! Anyways... it was a lot of fun!!
We played this at our last concert for school this year and we played it with the video that goes with it and it was so freaking awesome everyone loved it
I played this in eighth grade and had the horn solo. There was a croud of over 300 at a festival we where playing for. That was the absolute most pressure that i have and will ever experiance in my lifetime
we played this in 8th grade in front of 4 judges and beat 5 other middle schools and 1 high school and got a superior rating or straight 1s, if you may.
Played this for my honors band. I play bass clarinet and this was our final song for the concert. But during the national anthem the key to play a low G fell off so I went through the entire concert manually pressing it down.
I remember I played this in 6th grade, 2011 Nipher Middle School in Kirkwood, MO :') I remember I was a brand new trumpet player playing second part, not doing the best but loving the sound of this song
I also remember playing this one too.... I played trombone and was like ,"We actually have the medley for once?"... When we played it for our last song of the concert, our band director had to take leave the next week because he had an injured arm 😂 he renamed the song runaway train... Needless to say, we got a standing ovation
The funnest instrument to play on the song is the flute OR TROMBONE SOMETHING ABOUT THE FLUTE TRAIN PART AND THE END WHERE TROMBONE GETS THEIR PART IS SO GOOD
I've been in band for 3 months and I play flute (I'm in 7th grade) and we're playing this song in class. It's complete hell for me. The first page of this song is the easiest part. Thank god that we're not playing this song for our concert. The 8th graders are playing this song instead for the concert.
When I was in 7th grade we played this (before I switched from trombone to tuba) and when the solo for the trombones came our director had us stand up for the solo
I got the french horn solo for this and performed it...but I gotta fight for it one last time for my trip to Hollywood, and lately I've been sounding very airy

Real, the 7th grade we have for our band is amazing at doing it. Also am I the only one who feels like the trombone soli should have had more people playing the lower octive part.

Ivey Tube I play this in my school band and I'm in 5th grade and I'm doing great

Its hard to master this song because of the different components to it, almost every junior high does it so dont worry. Also its not a festival song so dont stress about that either.

Isn't the girl who's playing the bells supposed to play in the chimes?
ikr mah goodness ....
Yeah, but we don't have bells at my school either so our percussionist is just using the bells :)
Yes, but it's also optional for bells, so maybe they didn't have chimes
Y3K STUDIO you can literally see chimes in the left
@@y3kstudio63 There are chimes literally 5 ft to her right
Playing this for my middle school band, and can’t get over the fact the 1:54 sounds exactly like mission impossible
Jack Cotton it’s not i’m in 8th grade and it’s actually not that hard and i just started playing it today
@@emily_mp4329 They mean that it sounds like the theme from Mission Impossible.

My middle school band just played this and we had about a week to learn it before our end of year concert, but it sounded great over all :)
My class wouldn't ever take their instruments home to practice.
Good job!
Came to see trombones playing a part similar to mine and I guess my band director must just hate me cause my part seems to have more to it than literally every other trombone part. 😂😂
xXWolfWarrior01Xx trombones are a very underrated instrument.
Wisconsin and Northwestern Railroad as a trombonist, I can confirm this statement
enjoy it because we never get a fun part to be honest😂 we’re always holding a B for like 12 beats then resting for 6 measures then repeating
What instrument do you all play? I play clarinet and bass clarinet.
jcuber I played this with my tenor sax
jcuber I play the French horn
The only one in my band too
jcuber bass clarinet!
BASS IS THE SUPREME RACE

my band class is playing this for the spring concert!
How’d it go
This brought back memories. I played the trombone at 3:26 with the band from memory and it been years! Wish I could get into another ensemble.
That’s one of the reasons why I love this piece so much. That trombone part is amazing
I played tenor at the same part. It's also my favorite part. It gives me the chills.
Here's a story that no one asked for :)

I remember when I played this got all the trumpet features
We are in 8th grade playing this
i'm practicing this song for my middle school band.
Nice job me and my band are also gonna play this
When I was in 7th grade we played this (before I switched from trombone to tuba) and when the solo for the trombones came our director had us stand up for the solo

Percussion 😀
We are currently playing this with a combined band between the 8th graders and the Highschool band
