1961 Born in Marlboro Projects. We use to walk to Coney Island across this small Bridge that went over that Waterway. I will never forget the smell and the amount of thick Sludge that was in that water. Got out of there when I was 13. Never looked back at poverty. Home, Cars, Marriage, Children, Worked a 6 day week and bettered myself.
In 1968 or 69, my father took my self and my two brothers to Sheepshead Bay to see a Yellow Submarine The Quster I. I was about 17 or so. We met Jerry Bianco and he told us all about his salvaging of the Andriadoria and how he intended on raising it with air bags. He was a friendly kinda guy, and invited us in to look inside the sub. I had never been in any kind of sub before, let a lone a real yellow submarine. Ive eatin a few subs in my day, but I was never in one! It was a real thrill. After our visit, I don't know where I got it from, probably my father, but I managed to get a current newspaper with the story on the from page. It was a great thrill for me, and who would ever have thought that some 45 years later, I would be the leader of a Beatles Tribute band called Imagine The Beatles Tribute in California, from 1991-2013, impersonating Ringo Starr no less, and singing Yellow Submarine in our hour and a half show.
The guys in my band and I learned about the yellow sub being there and we went to see it up close one day. Jerry also invited us to explore inside the sub and explained his mission. It was an adventure for us. He was looking for investors at the time, but we were all virtually broke being that we were just in our late teens and very early 20's.
The story of this sub is just so amazing. I remember while being a kid, I was fascinated by underwater archaeology and salvage, but living in a post-communist country and some 150 miles from the sea, this fascination was usually met with me being labelled a "weird kid". Had i known this story back then, I would have been mind-blown.

I heard the crane operator didn't listen and lowered the submarine into the water without its ballast, causing it to roll on its side one fully lowered in the water, and scaring away the investors. The ballast being removed so the crane could safely lift it.

Thanks
Why would you even think of fishing at this place it’s one of the most polluted bodies of water in the city there aren’t any fish.
