    One of the most dangerous jobs on this planet: Shipbreaker. Many injuries and deaths, training happens on the job, almost no safety equipment except maybe a hardhat, no health care, no insurance. Those men risk their life every day for recycling of metals. That deserves great respect.

      they are not stupid. they are the slaves of the unsustainable quality of life for a lot of us westerners, with fake jobs, unuseful lives and a fake way of thinking about happiness. But things are changing. Either we understand that, or we all perish under nuclear fallout, soon.

      blow touch is for plumbing that is a cutting touch or gas axe, some time know as oxy acetylene but is most likely oxy lpg.

      @@eddjordan2399 Oxygen coupled with Acetylene...and also these same two gases used in a 'thermal lance' when needed. That is when multiple bottles of the two gases are used at once running into a manifold which greatly increases the pressure of the two gases at the cutting point making it possible to cut through extra thick or hardened sections of steel

      And these ships and all only last around 20 or so years before being scrapped, all the resources used in building them and then tearing them apart is insane

    Breaking up of massive transport ships that supply the wealthy nations is done by workers from poor nations without regard for their safety and working conditions. Cheapskate company owners should provide basic safety gear for these hardworking men.

    Hard, dirty, dangerous work. I liked that the video was just the actual workers without a narrator or ridiculous soundtrack. I'd rather hear the machinery and actual sounds.

    The people and the horrible bosses that run this business will not spend $1 for any kind of PRECAUTIONARY OR SAFETY TOOL OR METHOD that can minimize injuries or death. Even a $1 protective covering on a Chisel, so the work does not accidentally hit his hand, is not present here. But I admire and salute all the hard workers here.

    Hard and very dirty work. Old engine oil, leftover fuel, tons of grease under decks. The most valuable thing is the anchors made of a special metal alloy. Workers are at high risk of tetanus.

      I would have thought it was the copper in the motors or the actual propeller.

      The propeller is the most valuable single piece. When you scrape a ship, they want the original drawing of the propeller to determine what metal iand exactly how heavy it is. The scrapper pays a premium on any propeller.

      @@vladimirstef4743 I knew a cop who called motorcycle helmets ”brain buckets” because of how often people were decapitated in motorcycle accidents. He was only in the force for 3 years back in the 80’s in Utah or Arizona (I forget) while completing his masters degree, but that was one thing that stuck with him. I hope it’s not as common now. 😢
      As a species, humans are daredevils. Few animals knowingly put themselves into such risky situations on a regular basis!

    Buenas tardes, a modo solo de sugerencia quería informar que: Si cargan combustible en la estación de servicio YPF que está en Av. Libertador esquina Quintana (San Fernando), y usan la aplicación, constanten antes de irse de la misma que no les hayan duplicado el pago, si lo hicieron reclamen en el momento, porque luego de ese instante dicen que el problema se soluciona desde YPF central y no pueden hacer nada y en efecto no lo hacen...dejo en claro que no propongo que dejen de cargar, ni que vayan a otra estación solo que verifiquen antes de salir del surtidor...

    From what I've read, breakers like this, working on beaches are environmental disasters. As suggested by the lack of PPE they also don't worry about environmental contamination from the various oils, asbestos, lead paint etc. It is all dumped on the beach and drains into the ocean.
    Wouldn't want to be one of those workers. Hard, dangerous work for next to no pay.

      Yeah right ....remnants of fuel oil sump oil acid asbestos benzene lead...you name it its in there....lovely and nutritious for our already polluted oceans...don't be stupid. Lots of valuable recoverables on these ships and a lot of money to be made but it takes a lot of work to get to them.

      More like $0.20 USD per hour or about $2 USD per day per 10 hour day or about $48 USD per month! Dangerous backbreaking work that unfortunately is better than starving in these backwards 3rd world countries run by slave traders!
