That fence wasn't on the side of the subway bridge when I retired in 2015. I'm puzzled why it was put there. There are a bunch of old train radios in the water next to the bridges where the subway runs. I used to park in Coney Island Yard, and my day ended at Stillwell Avenue terminal. I used to walk the tracks across the creek and into the yard in the middle of the night. Certain times of the year there were things that looked like shrimp swimming near the surface in such great numbers that the water looked like it was boiling. I have seen nice sized blue fish in the creek as well, probably chasing baitfish. The creek used to smell awful down near where it ends, but some years ago they cleaned it out so it is not as bad. It was nice to watch your video. I left Brooklyn after living there for 60+ years. I miss salt water. I'm south of Niagara Falls now in a small town. The 'driver' of subway trains is called a motorman, or more recently a Train Operator. The Conductor is in the middle of the train, he opens and closes the train doors and makes announcements.
Many years ago, a friend and I went on a hike from the amusement area, through the neighborhood of Coney Island (so many fruit trees in people's yards) and into the area I knew as "Six Diamonds" behind the new Home Depot. WHen my son had played little league at the ballfield, I remembered wandering towards the creek and seeing so much trash thrown into the creek -- refrigerators, washing machines. But that day we were looking for weeds -- or plants -- and we found amazing plants growing in the border around the balllfields above the creek. There was someone living up there, in a sort of dugout, on the emabankmet, with a few fishing lines permanently laying in small trenches in the creek bank, so we skirted their space. A memorable day. So much to see in the city.

@marilynt-smalls1094 Where? I didn't notice one. This was my 1st time paddling the area so I wasn't familiar with all the little details but the main goals was the submarine. 😀
@@TwoFeetOutdoors It is on the same side where you sat to eat. The pier is pretty small compared to others. It's on the side where the rocks are. It doesn't go far out. If you would have gone to the top of the rocks, you would have been in "Kaiser park". The park has all the information about the yellow sub, horse shoe crabs, and more. Maybe next time👍👍👍👍

A very unique perspective indeed. Most of us will never experience in person. The Bronx river video was my first time on your channel. Theres an abandoned Island northeast of Orchard Beach bordering Westchester County New York Known as David's Island. Just an idea. Thanks again for sharing. 👍

Thank you for doing the Coney Island creek. I live in Coney Island and always wanted to see from the creek level. To bad you didn’t get past the D, N train tracks, there’s a big field to the left where a lot of birds and swans lay eggs. The creek ends at Shell road and really stinks over there at low tide. The end does have a lot of fish in it loaded with small fry and fluke.
Congratulations!! , LOVE AN FIND IT INTERESTING UR FINDINGS. THE SOUND OF WATER AS U ROW IS SO RELAXING. GREAT WORK THANK YOU. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. GOD BLESS U.

They make underwater drones. I know you couldn't use it everywhere you go, but I think it could add some really cool shots, especially to something like this.
Yes, I do have an underwater case for my camera. Been waiting for the right circumstance where the water is clear enough. Def will in the future. I also want to add an actual drone into the mix.
Yes, I'm sure it's nothing new to most people in Coney Island. However, I did a video on the Bronx River and I had lifelong residents of the Bronx say that they never knew there was a river in the Bronx. I can see how the sub resembles a bus. I've watched a bunch of videos on the sub and had to go check it out for myself. Thank you for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it.
The water way that splits staten island and new jersey, has a boat graveyard, it's by the Lowe's. I believe the water way is called ""Great Fresh Kills""
These videos are great !!!! Born and raised in NYC and was always intrigued by the history of the waterways. Does shed a light on the fact that with all the city resources, the waterways should be cleaned up. Currently live in Dallas, these videos make me miss home
have you ever considered doing a Matawan Creek paddle to find the place where Lester Stilwell was attacked by a shark that started the shark frenzy. and a slew of attacks. there is alot of history on the topic By the way Love the vids that lunch was awesome . later Tomhobbies
Thanks for sharing. I used to work at that Verizon garage you passed in the creek. I’ve pulled my boat to that gas dock next door to it many years ago when things looked much better and watched the World Trade Center ruins burn from the very beach you had lunch on during the 9/11 attack. The area has changed so much.
Would have been awesome to see some metal detecting Along the beach after lunch, see if you find any cool things. And have you ever found anything scary or horrific on one of your kayaking trips, like say something dead floating in the water?
Thanks for a great video! Shame that they blocked your progress with that very low screen, I wonder if it was placed there for a purpose and what that purpose might be? Keep the great content coming!
Hey ya paddled right past where Ernest Hemingway had his boat Pilar built at Wheeler Boatyard which is where Stop n Shop stands now on Stilwell. They were a high end boat builder back in the early 1900s and had some military contracts also.

@@TwoFeetOutdoors I watched the Bronx one first sine I’m from the Bronx, then the Harlem River and now Coney Island. They are awesome 👏. Have you ever tried city island or the Long Island Sound. Keep doing it! I’ll keep watching. Plus the hot dog look delicious 😋
@@arlenesolis024 My other Bronx video is at Pelham Bay Park. Such a beautiful paddle. You love it. Thank you.
Dude you stood on top of Quester 1 and cooked chili dogs on a beach in Brooklyn. I’ve never subscribed to anyone so fast
@ptnwtsn This is the best comment ever! I love this. Thank you so much. I have lots of other videos you will enjoy. Thank you for watching and commenting. Thank you for subscribing too!!!
As a New Rochelle resident in Westchester county, Id love to see you kayak anywhere around here :)
Here's a link to my video at Pelham Bay Park. It's incredibly beautiful. You have to see the whole thing to appreciate ALL the views. That's the closest I get to New Rochelle for now. I have a few ideas for the future. Hope you'll stick around to the channel and check out some other videos. Thanks for watching and commenting.

love that the sub looks like a duck cyber truck with a cork in its head at 6:46
🤣🤣🤣
Since you asked for suggested paddle locations in NYC, try the Hutchinson River in the Bronx!
Yes, on the list. Def. going to do that paddle. Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
@TwoFeetOutdoors Excellent. I love your video adventures---all of 'em!
@@deanbianco4982 Thank you! I appreciate that.
What an amazing channel!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate you saying that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
There is a pier as well. I wish that you would have showed it!
Maybe next time👍👍👍👍
@@marilynt-smalls1094 Ahh, okay, yeah, I didn't go close to Kaiser Park. Next time. Thank you.
Great video. I have flown my drone over that submarine multiple times, but your view beats any aerial view.
Wow, thank you!!
I really want to add a drone to my RUclips videos. Any recommendations on something good quality, decent price and easy to fly?
@@TwoFeetOutdoors for the adventures you are doing I would highly recommend the DJI Mini 4 pro
When will you do a Jamaica bay video ? Besides the little islands there are 2 nice size freshwater lakes before you enter Broad channel .
In the below video, I'm in Jamaica Bay, Deadhorse Bay and Marine Park. I'd love to go back and paddle more in Jamaica Bay and explore a bit more.
ruclips.net/video/WzzIpHmw_eI/видео.htmlsi=cssSPPdINRBsV7Iw
It would be nice to see a map, in relation to where you are sometimes.
Thank you. I appreciate the suggestion. I do have a lot of people that tell me they enjoy pulling up google maps while watching and follow along that way. It's kind of better than a quick flash of a map on the screen. Several in the comments here even mentioned it. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
A very unique perspective indeed. Most of us will never experience in person. The Bronx river video was my first time on your channel. Theres an abandoned Island northeast of Orchard Beach bordering Westchester County New York Known as David's Island. Just an idea. Thanks again for sharing. 👍
I was paddling Pelham Bay Park, Hog Island and a bunch of smaller islands around there yesterday but I didn't go to David's Island. I'll keep that Island in mind.
Good job! Somehow you showed up in my youtube feed. I wish youtube would bring back hashtags or something because i get so much crap in my feed and new cool channels like yours rarely pop up. Have a good one!
also, it might not hurt to put the kayak link (amazon?) in description : )
Thank you so much! I'm glad I popped up in your feed. Hope you'll check out other videos of mine. Lots more like this one. Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm not sponsored by the kayak brand yet, so I don't really advertise for them. Obviously, I answer any questions people ask about it. I did apply for a partnership / sponsorship with them but waiting to hear back. Welcome to Two Feet Outdoors.
It's so weird & different the places you go. Canoeing & camp stove cooking so close to NYC 😂. Love it!❤ who would have thought?
Thank you. I try to bring a camping element to my day trips. Thank you for watching. I love exploring interesting places.
I hoped to make it to Shell Road. I didn't like that 2nd spot unter the train bridge. 😕
That beautiful building that you spoke about is actually a domestic violence shelter!
Wow, really? That's unbelievable.
Congratulations!! , LOVE AN FIND IT INTERESTING UR FINDINGS. THE SOUND OF WATER AS U ROW IS SO RELAXING. GREAT WORK THANK YOU. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. GOD BLESS U.
My too. The sound of the water is my favor part of kayaking.
Love this! You take excellent advantage of kayaks' ability to go where few other boats dare. Speaking of dares, how about the Fresh Kills Ship Graveyard? ;)
I def want to check that out!! Thank you for watching, commenting and making that suggestion.
Added a 👍. Come back out to LI. There are some more places to canoe or kayak.
I love them. I'll be back.
I think those small geese are called "brant" - they are kinda neat to watch etc... Like your videos...
Thank you!
Congratulations 🎊
@@allstarfania Thank you! I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Andrea Doria? has no one else noted Seinfeld? hahah// very cool to see the sub! such a nice time on the water, awesome you enjoy the City this way and even better you can bring a meal that is great // congrats on the monetization but also keep an eye on how many commercials they put in// i turn my adblocker off on youtube to support you folks but if you dont monitor how the ads are set they will put in way too many. // anyway all kinds of great scenes from the water here thanks for sharing
Thank you! Appreciate the tips.
Congrats bro!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching.
14:28. Cube Smart is a Storage Facility where you can rent various size spaces to store things that are overflowing out of your house.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Just found you. From Staten Island always wanted to do what you're doing being that I love on a island water everwhere. Safe travels.
Thank you for watching.
This was so cool, Matt. Thanks for taking us along! PS The small geese are called Brants.
Thank you for teaching me something! Looked it up. So awesome.
that submarine.. we call it the yellow bus (if you live in bensonhursts/coney island). it's been there for decades...
Congrats!
Thank you!!
It's cool to see all the these places I've been for my exploring hikes from a different perspective. I'm considering getting a kayak now
That's awesome. Thank you!
The water way that splits staten island and new jersey, has a boat graveyard, it's by the Lowe's. I believe the water way is called ""Great Fresh Kills""
Thank you for the suggestion.
would you ever consider paddling out to the pier of the bridge? I'm sure a bunch of us would love to see that POV.
Paddling out to the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge? Likely not, too much of a shipping channel. I try to avoid big moving objects with big wakes.
These videos are great !!!! Born and raised in NYC and was always intrigued by the history of the waterways. Does shed a light on the fact that with all the city resources, the waterways should be cleaned up. Currently live in Dallas, these videos make me miss home
Thank you! I completely agree.
Amazing the amount of ships around New York City. I realize it’s a large Seaport, but it’s hard to believe so many were just left to rot.
@Mag_Aoidh Thank you for watching and commenting. Did you also watch my ship graveyard video?
Myself living on the west coast all my life, I was able to follow along on Google Maps. Very interesting and thanks for the fascinating video.
Thank you. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Congrats on the RUclips thing. The way you blew through those 2 chili dogs shoulda made 3 or 4!
That's called editing but I could have had 3 or 4. 🤣😂
That’s one AWSOME find Matt right there in Coney Island Creek.
Thank you! This was a fun video to make. So unique and interesting. Thanks for watching and commenting.
have you ever considered doing a Matawan Creek paddle to find the place where Lester Stilwell was attacked by a shark that started the shark frenzy. and a slew of attacks. there is alot of history on the topic
By the way
Love the vids
that lunch was awesome .

I haven't but I'll look into it. Not familiar. Thank you!

Thank you man!! I really appreciate it and appreciate you watching.
Spent 4 years in Aberdeen Maryland , ( military) went to the city quite a few times in those years , I really enjoy you're prospective of this area!
In Texas we call them honkers!
Call the Canada Geese honkers?
Yes I guess that is a name my wife Ruth & I gave them! Their presence means fall is here is terrible hot Texas!
Dude, you're really close to where I live. Nice videos. I never seen my area from that perspective
That's really awesome!! Thanks for watching.
Are their any rivers in Staten Island
The Arthur Kill. There's also a boat graveyard.
@43steelersfan1 If he had kayak towards the verazano bridge & paddled left, he'll be on that river, never knew it was called that
I need to look into Arthur Kill.
Use to be good Porgie fishing there also bluefish, and Stripe Bass
Nice! You don't think they are in there anymore?
I lived so close my whole life. Definitely gonna get a round to checking the area out
Congrats, and thanks for hitting the nail on the head as far as peaceful video-making goes.

Buddy, your killing it!
Thank you so much!!! Best comment of the day! Really appreciate it.

You should try Jamaica Bay it's a Oasis in the city nature reserve very shallow
My Brooklyn video goes through Jamaica Bay.
Nice video. Have you ever visited Bannerman Island on the Hudson?
I have not but def seems very interesting. Need to keep it in mind as a possible video.
@@TwoFeetOutdoors Yeah, pretty interesting history and I think there are a lot of launch points along the shore just across from the island.
Would have been awesome to see some metal detecting Along the beach after lunch, see if you find any cool things. And have you ever found anything scary or horrific on one of your kayaking trips, like say something dead floating in the water?
No, I haven't. I don't own a metal detector, but I'd like to get a magnet for some occasional magnet fishing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Your videos are so relaxing to watch. Very interesting. Its interesting to see such peaceful parts especially in a big city... 👍
Thank you! Your 1st sentence is key in a world that sometimes feels beyond our control. I want my videos to be relaxing.
@@TwoFeetOutdoorsyour welcome. All the best.
Thanks for a great video! Shame that they blocked your progress with that very low screen, I wonder if it was placed there for a purpose and what that purpose might be? Keep the great content coming!
Thank you. Not sure why it's there. You can probably pass it at lower tide.
The smaller geese at 30:00 are called Brant. They are a coastal species that favors tidal estuaries.
Thank you!! Appreciate the comment and appreciate you watching.
Hey ya paddled right past where Ernest Hemingway had his boat Pilar built at Wheeler Boatyard which is where Stop n Shop stands now on Stilwell. They were a high end boat builder back in the early 1900s and had some military contracts also.
Wow, interesting! Thank you for watching and commenting.
