DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA - Today we’re going to eat at Zweli's, one of the few Zimbabwean food restaurants in the United States, and it happens to be located in Durham, North Carolina.
Zweli's has an amazing story and they serve an outstanding array of Zimbabwe dishes. We had the huge Zim platter, which came with just about everything including oxtails, piri piri chicken wings, and locally made boerewors - which were all spectacular. When you’re in Durham, I highly recommend Zweli's for an authentic taste of Zimbabwean food in the United States!

This is awesome! I've never seen or heard anyone cooking, eating, discussing or even showing pictures of Zimbabwean food. I am thrilled to have Mark Weins exposing me to the delicacies of my long lost home continent -- Africa. Much appreciation from an African-American woman in Western New York.

You also definitely check out the Best ever food review show channel, they just recently went to Zimbabwe (he's also done quite a few series on different African countries that I highly recommend!) and made some amazing videos about the food and the culture. It was pretty awesome to see it get given the attention it so deserves but rarely ever gets.
African cuisine in general, is so varied and different, with every country, city, village ect. having it's own unique and different style and it has such an amazing and storied history behind it...It's almost criminal how ignored it is by the food world, especially considering the amount of influence it has had on so many different cuisines around the world.
That's why I love restaurants like the featured on this video, because it shares such a amazing culture and cuisine to people that may have never had the chance to try it otherwise and also develop a greater appreciation for it at the same time.

Mark see the comment from Wikipedia. Boerewors, (pronounced [ˈbuːrəˌvɔrs]) a type of sausage which originated in South Africa. It is an important part of South African, Zimbabwean, Botswana(motswana) and Namibian cuisine and is popular across Southern Africa. The name is derived from the Afrikaans words boer ("farmer") and wors ("sausage"). Another great video.
