Mark I am happy that, you are eating all delicious food from around the world, also one thing I like about you that, you have equal respect for every country you visited. Please visit Bangladesh again.
Mark see the comment from Wikipedia. Boerewors, (pronounced [ˈbuːrəˌvɔrs]) a type of sausage which originated in South Africa. It is an important part of South African, Zimbabwean, Botswana(motswana) and Namibian cuisine and is popular across Southern Africa. The name is derived from the Afrikaans words boer ("farmer") and wors ("sausage"). Another great video.
Clayton , I was just going to mention what you wrote about Boerewors, that it originated in S.A. Dry Vors, and boerewors was definitely a very frequent item on our plate growing up in C.T. Zweli's looks great and such a find in N.C.
It is called nyama choma in Kenya and is popular with the Bantu speaking tribes including those in East Africa the same way with ugali also called sadza in Zimbabwe or pap with the South African natives but of course South Africa uses Afrikaans names unlike other Southern African and East African nations.
I can't believe you didn't get to try the Chakalaka!! It's the best thing at Zweli's. It's like a party in your mouth that then explodes into your brain. It's amazing stuff. I could make a meal out of chakalaka and the peanut butter collards. I'm so glad you came to Durham to spread the word about these good people and the food. You should also know that Leonardo and Zweli have done so much to feed the community during COVID, especially front-line workers. They also did collections of clothes and supplies (and of course, food) for people who were displaced from their apartments a year or so ago.
Chill!! It goes to show the influence your country has on Zimbabwe from way back, like 1950s upto now.... Many modern Shona words tend to be localized Afrikaans or English words.
@@AllHope23 that's fine, cultural exchange happens and there's nothing wrong with that you find SA food/culture in Zimbabwe and vise versa, that's good. @@truesouth6532 The Republic of South Africa was constituted in 1910, Afrikaner people were distributed in Botswana and Zimbabwe already. Ascribing boerewors to RSA can be tricky
@@AllHope23 but if it's Afrikaaners themselves who say the dish is SA then how do you defend that? Even doing research on it from reliable sources credits SA. That's not to say it didn't cross over to Zimbabwe and many other countries, what we're talking about here is origin. Also, is there anything else in Zimbabwe i.e names of places, schools and etc that show that there's an Afrikaaner influence there like there is English?
@@truesouth6532 technicality Baba, it not he says, she says.... Boerewors originated from what is now South Africa. It predates RSA... great video again! amazing US trip. my dad worked in Zimbabwe in 80s, he would love to watch chef Zweli prepare these dishes. it all looks very tasty. thank you Mark.
Thank you Mark for doing a video on Zim food as l was born there and grew up there. We eat all of what you ate on a regular basis living in South Africa. I saw that you enjoyed the food💗
So excited to see this video! I live in Raleigh, just up the road from Durham, and this week I head to Zimbabwe for the second time this year! Love Zweli's and love that Mark is highlighting the wonderful food from the region!
Mark, it never ceases to amaze me how much food you can pack away in one sitting!! Great visit
*WOW ! Never seen Zimbabwean food vlogs. this is gonna be intresting. surely would be an another greatest food festival by one of the best and greatest food vloggers in the world, Master Mark Weins 🔥😋👌 much love from Sri Lanka !* 🇱🇰💖💐
Mark I am happy that, you are eating all delicious food from around the world, also one thing I like about you that, you have equal respect for every country you visited. Please visit Bangladesh again.
Whoa I’m like 2 hours away I might go cause the food LOOKS DELICIOUS 🤤
are you close to Raleigh or Durham because mark said they have restaurants there also that are owned by this chef Swalli and her husband.
We here in South Africa cook the same food😊 Western Cape South-Africa 🇿🇦 love boerewors, chakalaka and pap👌and ofcoz.....our braai meat and chicken!
Zweli's looks great and such a find in N.C.
glad to see i'm not the only one correcting them on the origin of boerewors

It is called nyama choma in Kenya and is popular with the Bantu speaking tribes including those in East Africa the same way with ugali also called sadza in Zimbabwe or pap with the South African natives but of course South Africa uses Afrikaans names unlike other Southern African and East African nations.

I’m gonna have to take a road trip! This food looks amazing!!! They are amazing hosts as well! I gotta go support this business
I love the way Chef Zweli built this menu - its sooo delicious!
Wow! Food looks absolutely amazing. I wish I could taste it. I bet it was delicious.
One of your most original shares, Mark. Absolutely delicious-looking.
Proudly 🇿🇼 Zimbabwean.. thank you Mark
Oh wow. God bless Zweli and Leonardo.
Chakalaka and boerewors are South African - we also eat pap in various forms. Would be great for you to visit South Africa! 🇿🇦
But when you educate people, you need to be truthful that's all. We also eat and make pizza but you'll never hear us say pizza is authentically SAn.
She basically said the food is "authentically Zimbabwean" which it's not.
But the people whom it belongs to, were also in other parts of Southern Africa when the Union of South Africa was constituted.
Not all Afrikaners are South Africans, right?
The food there is delicious and it was really cool to meet Mark that day he's such a kind guy!
Great vid Mark.....now I want Zimbabwean Food..😫😋😁
Have a friend from South Africa. She fed us Peri Peri one time and, damn, thought the burn would never stop. Great flavor. She also made several, veggie, dishes that were, exceptional.
Wow Zimbabwean looks great!!!! 🤤🤤🤤
Thanks for showing us a little bit about North Carolina mr Mark!!! 💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
#NewGenerationBullies
Ok now I have to try this, Mark thank you for this!!!!!!!!
Happy to see some familiar food, isn't this typical South African cuisine though especially the boerewors and the pap...mmmmh? Anyway, enjoy it Mark, Lekker !!
Zimbabwe was colonized from South Africa... that explains your Boerewors. Zimbabwe shares several language groups with South Africa, thus a lot is similar on cuisine as well, but there are differences. Zimbabweans generally do no like abo Kale and Cabbage
I never knew anything about Zimbabwean food. That food looks amazing and delicious. Thank you Mark.
My eyes shot out my head whenever I ate samosas as a kid. Damn good stuff.
I would love to taste Zweli's oxtail and samoosas. Thanks for featuring one of our own!!.. The food looks so good just like it is back home in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼..I will definitely spread the word to my zim friends here in the States 😋.. 🇿🇼🇺🇸.
