🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

How is life so far and hi
2nd!!!!!
Wait how is it that the vid is 1min ago but the comment is 9h ago!?!?!?!🤨🤯🧐
Great content, but I wanted to know, How was this comment posted 9 hours ago. How did you do that? Or there is something wrong with my screen? or was it premiered? I'm confusion.
@@Kenard1445 idk
Really gotta give this guy credit. Not only for his food bravery and his acceptance of various cultures but particularly for his extensive coverage of African countries. Most of these creators only visit the big cities and pay surface level respect or look for only shock value. He really dives in and looks for understanding.
His parents raised him REALLY well!!!!!
Just curious why did you write RUclips is racist in one of your comment. When we click the V in your profile.
@@vana804 is that for me or nobody exceptme?
@@vana804 because they demonetized his African content and labeled it as somehow offensive to advertisers when all he is doing is showing how people are really living. The platform is generally racist same as tiktok. African and black content is frequently undervalued and held to different standards than their counterparts. As is the way of most of the western world.
He was stationed in Vietnam for a while til they kicked him back to the USA. Lol guess he’s on the traveling again
I am TOTALLY loving the Zimbabwean series. Eloquent co-hosts all the time. But Vincent is the man to beat for top spot!
Zimbabweans are educated and peaceful
@@eagledice2008 but they have the worst leadership ever...at the moment that is. We have elections next year wish us luck we going to vote those corrupt thieves out of power then Zimbabwe will be Great again.
Vote for Vincent

You don't seem to see black and white people mixing like we are in UK
Sonny genuinely loves people and is so respectful of other people's "food culture"... Thank you for visiting and putting our Zimbabwe on the map.... Proudly Zimbabwean 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼

I’m a Zimbabwean and this is a delicacy to us ❤️ the cow leg takes forever to cook though...about 12 hours on the stove though it can be faster on the fire. The Mopani worms 🐛 are highly nutritious
I once straight up ate a caterpillar and did not taste very good but it was like eating pudding that has an outer layer
They get really sticky when cooked! So yummy

Sonny rocks good vibes with everyone,l love how he respects other people's culture.Loved the typical Zimbabwean exotic food highlighted in this video.
I hope someday RUclips does toooo
I would have to be getting paid a big bag 💰💰 & lifetime supply of pepto bismal to eat what he eats .
@@DopeCode123 I absolutely LOVE that Sonny is showing off world cultures, and I think he's absolutely correct that RUclips is examining his vids with a "Western" lens and deeming them inappropriate. It's no secret that most Americans would get grossed out watching two guys rip apart a pig's head and eat virtually every part of it except the bones/teeth. I have to admit that the younger version of myself would never watch this, but it's important for people to understand and appreciate other cultures. I mean, it's not fucking cannibalism!!
I think, nowadays, the most rare ability would be to respect other people's cultures. Actually, I take that back, it's probably the most rare ability throughout history. That guy is something else!!! I wish that I can be as half open-minded as he is. I'm working on it.
nice
Sonny is the guy who brings smile to everyone's face even when you don't feel like smiling. Bless you brother..
Felt down and thought i need to warch something to cheer me up... Came straight to see sonny. What a guy
Absolutely agree!!! Sonny is awesome

I'm south African... But I dearly love Zimbabwean people and their food🤤🤤🤤 yummy food 😋😋
The lady who’s holding termites clay has a beautiful smile ❤
The African apocalypse man is literally half the population of Zimbabwe (The world over really.). People in rural areas are the most self sufficient people ever. My gran used to make everything from soap, cooking oil (from peanuts), clothes, beer, peanut butter, medicine from plants and herbs. You name it, she made it. True that necessity is the mother of inventions. You do what u gotta do to survive..and thrive!
She is my hero, not only did she pass down these skills to my Mom and me, she also showed us that life is not about the cards you have been dealt but how you play them to win the game.
Vincent is playing his with a big beautiful smile on his face, love to see it!
Thank you for the amazing content Sonny. Hope u had fun in Zim.
My grandma was the same way. My mom wasn’t interested in learning about stuff like that but I loved being with my grandma. She taught me sooo much. I appreciate everything she taught me. I’m 38 and people say I act like a old lady. I been told that since I was a kid or that I had a old soul. That’s because I loved being with my elders. My husband says I do everything the hard way. Why can’t you just buy soap. You don’t have to do all that. I’m like, I like doing things the right way without short cuts. I don’t work so I have nothing but time to make 80%-90% of our food from scratch. I got my husband into gardening and we share with family and friends. I take pride in growing food, fishing and making my food from scratch. You have me wondering how oil is made though lol. I would like to try that.
@@AshleyAshleyAshley395 a woman. Nuthn wrong with it
Please can you share how she made soap? I’d love to learn 🙏🏽

This series has put Zimbabwe in my top 5 countries to visit when working(wildlife biology) in Africa, just because the people seem so genuinely warm and sincere
Liked Sony and Carl's chemistry... You both helped showcase to the world our food culture. I hope to see the two of you doing a show together in the future. This was awesome....
Victoria Falls is one of the most beautiful places in the world! Great to see Carl in this video, he is an excellent chef. Thank you Sonny and crew for showing how amazing Zim food is.🇿🇼

I loved all the Zimbabwean host they were relaxed and didn't try too much that it was noticable
The way he described everything, and the insight he gave us into his culture and their food, was very poetic. This episode made me want to get more in touch with my own culture’s food. I think I’m going to start mixing traditional Dominican recipes with some of my own recipes now.
Proud Zimbabwean here and I loved this. Shout out to Carl Joshua Ncube for dropping knowledge
The borehole moment captures the Zimbabwean spirit perfectly. There are people who will help you even when you don't see it.
Very true
I am from the Balkans, to be honest as kids we ate lots of pig heads, and chicken inners in soups and dishes with rice and tomatoes. Zimbabwe is miles away but shares the same idea - of growing your food and not wasting it.
Oh yeah, soup was not a soup without chicken hearts, stomach, chicken head/neck and/or feet. Chicken liver and hearts were usually also stewed with a lot of onions or simply rolled in with bacon strips (plums as well) and thrown on a bbq.
I think the only thing we don't eat in Zimbabwe are the eye balls (not sure why they tried them), bile duct and brains. Testicles are fair game when grilled on the fire lol
@@MarwaFamily888 We eat the brain as well, but I personally do not like its texture.
There's a difference when you don't have a choice. You eat what you got and are happy with filling your belly. It's up to the elders to figure out how to cook and prepare it for the best dish.
@@moon-moth1 anyone in the USA who does whole pig on the spit always use the head and the men who killed the pig eat the brain and eyes. When your from a family of farmers you grow up eating all the parts and using the hydes. What isn't consumed by humans is processed for dog's or even back to the pigs.
Instrument raridzwa right at the beginning of the show is a classic,..Its just made my day,.. I remember the old days watching ZBC ichanakidza..
Oh my god that pork looks amazing. In Spain we eat everything too and the head is amazing, the eyes, the brain, the tongue. Delicious.
I'm so glad you came to our country Sonny I'm a huge of yours and I never thought you'd ever come to Zimbabwe😊

Zimbabwe is such a beautiful country. I’m learning so much, thank you Sonny Carl, and production team! 👏🏼👏🏼😊
When you ate that pig ear i remember your early video of eating pig ear at Vietnam street.... You came a long way Sonny👍👍from scratch to famous.. You have always been an inspiration for me, hope to join you some day when ever you again come back to India, there is lot more unseen tribal food and adventure waiting for you😊
LoL from india

Not from Zimbabwe but seeing Sonny cover all sorts of places is incredible. At first it was very Asia-centric, but since the pandemic he has really gone off the beaten path. Seeing him cover Mexico made me happy and I hope all the people from Zimbabwe (and the other African countries he has visited recently) all feel the same.
We certainly do here in Zim
agreed LOL. Who wants to watch people eat cats and dogs 🤣🤣🤣 MAMA AFRIKA is where it’s at! Every black man and woman should go see the homeland one day.
@@g.3581 lol shit don’t look that much better then what the Chinese eat in Asia. Eating bugs, dirt, n shit tf.
@@g.3581 bro wtf, dogs are eaten in Africa too, not common, but it is? if you didn’t know. There was no need to disrespect asians. What’s wrong with you?
@@sashav.3189 Why are you trying to defend asians? Are you even black? Asians will never respect black people and it’s time we stop catering to them. Guyana, Trinidad, Mauritius, etc. got taken over by Asians and now they’re rife with racist Asians who hate black folk and black culture.
Haha, I understand Carl's reaction on the mushrooms because no one just eats mushrooms without verifying the source. He had to ask 🤣🤣. But Carl is ellaborates very clearly and has his own interesting understanding of Zim food. I like it.
Whole families have died after eating mushrooms 🙁 I only buy from the shop to be safe
Baobab is rich in fibre which can slow down the rise in blood glucose, helping prevent sugar spikes. It is also high in polyphenols which have been shown to effect the release of sugars from carbohydrates into the blood stream, reducing their conversion into glucose

I absolutely love that this guy goes to all the local folk area's and eats without judging the culture or food choices. He's amazing and so are all the folks he introduces us too along his travels.
In Kenya we call the baobab seed 'mabuyu'. It's a delicacy especially in the coastal region.
Here in Zimbabwe we call them "Mauyu"
And "bouyy" in Sénégal :)
Zimbabweans and Kenyans are definitely one people just look at the meaning of Swahili words and Shona words I’m telling you these cousins were separated by the white man also the people of The Gambia I swear those people are half of us
