Just beat this game the other day for the very first time. It was the most wonderful experience I've had with a video game in a long time. The fact that this game is still able to hook new players after 30 years of its release is mind blowing.
I just wanted to say thank you for making and putting these videos out here. They're great for people like me who want to understand the game without having to hunt it down and play it personally. I love these!!
I was disappointed by the absence of any final boss music when I played this. Even Dragon Quest and Phantasy Star, which had no bosses until the end of the game, had special music just for them.
I don't think the game needed a different battle theme for the final boss. Since the suspense from the game came from the dungeons (whether you will survive or not) and not the bosses (for the most part were rather easy) The Sunken Shrine theme more than made up for it. Plus hearing the new boss theme in subsequent versions just felt forced and unnatural to the game.
I totally screwed up. I didn't know you could use your equipment for items.....so I threw my heal staff and heal helmet away. I just thought they were equipment to wear. lol fml
+1, just finished the game for the first time, and only end game did i learn to use item's abilities. I would have saved a fortune using the Healing Staff in battle instead of heals & spells... :/
The last time I beat this game (on the original NES platform) was in the late 1990's. I was in middle school. I played this game every night after school for 3 hours, 5-6 days a week for 6 months start to finish to do so. Countless level-building fights required between each fiend and between the wind fiend and Chaos battle.
+Pikachu7586 I think it was the first in its kind so for its time, it was great. Sadly, it's hard to get into this game if you have already played the other games. Anyway, considering its time and being the first, it has plenty of stuff.
You have to look at this masterpiece that was made in 1987 and the other RPGs released that were primitive & disfunctional gameplay for its time. This perception confirms how important & special FF1 and Phantasy Star 1 were to the industry!
The version I played most recently is Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls for the GBA. It's interesting to compare it to the original and see how much has changed. My usual party? Fighter/Warrior, Thief, White Mage, Black Mage (Knight, Ninja, White Wizard, Black Wizard).
@@TomboyGamerGal what can I say? I've improved a lot since then. Pluss I accidentally had the message speed up to 1 which made the battles incredibly slow, so when I played it again I had the message speed up to 8 to make the battles go by much faster.
A great game, and Square even confirmed that the Fighter, Thief, White Mage, and Black Mage are canon to the story, sadly the Black Belt and Red Mage are non-canon
I mean what's true to the game's lore, Square released a novel years ago that revealed this along with a novel based on FF II which finally revealed the Emperors name.
All 4 videos of this game comined adds up to 8 hours 9 minutes and 29 seconds fun fact 😁 To watch the entire 1-6 heres the time each one takes FFI = 8 Hours 9 Minutes 29 seconds FF II = 22 Hours 36 Minutes 48 Seconds FF III = 12 Hours 24 Minutes 1 Second FF IV = 17 Hours 27 Minutes 1 Second FF V = 17 Hours 51 Minutes 26 Secons FFVI = 28 Hours 18 Minutes 48 Seconds
Man, beating the very first FF isn't easy. Not so polished, but still revolutionary for 1987. I didn't through the NES Classic and not the actual system. But defeating the final boss (easy as heck with the right upgrades) is epic.

must have been a real masterpiece in 1987, FF deserves all the praise it got, sadly didnt become publicly known until FF6.
The Warrior who
broke the 2000

is truly a
LIGHT WARRIOR....
That warrior was

Well, at least you get an overly complicated title card at the end with some nice music :3
What about Mega Man 2? All the boss fights had the same music and it's recognized as the most popular game in the series
And Mega Man 1 and 3, while the castle bosses had different music, Wily himself did not have his own theme.

I spam healing staff every turn on my white mage, such a god tier item

9/10
Pros: Simplistic yet challenging, Vast world, Creative story, Good gameplay
Cons: Long grinding times late in the game

Still not as grindy as PS2!
I use to play this when my parents fought.
Now you fight with your wife while your kids play it, lol
COD ProCamp what are you doing replying to a comment from 6 years ago?
Mr Ross ....
Mr Ross yea,it was pretty dreadful at the end
Mr Ross nah I do understand that rpg’s aren’t for everyone
Dang, this is the longest NES playthrough that I ever seen.
NAH! FF2 is the longest I've seen.

I was 13 when I beat this game wow now I'm 500 years old lol
Minute the video starts
Victory fanfare! YES! SO MUCH WIN!
Warmech is a rare enemy. Most people don't find him without spending an hour or more of walking back and forth on path.
Why did the player instruct the red wizard character "Tsun" to use the Bane Sword five times in a row against Tiamat when it has no effect?
Tiamat 1 in sky castle is vulnerable to Bane. Not so much in TOFR as it only has a 3 in 256 chance of hitting there.
The music to this game puts me to sleep, so I just played the video at 2x speed and played a StarBomb album.
never saw the Irongol 1:43 or the T Rex. When I did face Warmech, always got beat.
Missed 4 chests. First in earth cave right before the vampire and the top 4 on sky floor 3. Also XFER doesn't work. Should've purchased WALL
First Time I completed Final Fantasy It took me 7 days... and now I completed it again but in just over a single DAY!
so yeah I like this game.
In one day?! Damn...

The pixel remastered version is just under FF6 in greatness. I mean its a dnd game.
#FinalFantasyRules Final fantasy FTW :)
hiii i took some of your footage when you were fighting for my video and gave you all credit!!!!! Hope You dont mind - Bravely
Great skill friend you will take wizardy 8 next ?
Do you have ff2?
4 chins of light.
Do not understand the point of using a "speed" spell when there is no timer as in later games.
Little late but the speed spell is supposed to boost the number of hits with a regular attack.
I would like to know, how you missed Warmech... or you did him off screen? because you have no NUKE spell - or I didn't notice it
1:47:24 Chaos
so the first game was just a spoof of Groundhog Day.
OK don't worry it's OK
