I was kind of disappointed that you didn't talk about that final play where Blankenship recognizes the fake an comes down from the secondary to get a tackle for a big loss, possibly even a forced fumble.
That's on me! It was the final play, and a hell of a play too. I should have given Blankenship some recognition. It was one of the best plays of the game. That too, an open field tackle. Damn impressive.
If Epps had wrapped his arms instead of foolishly just throwing his shoulder in there to bring down CMC the play would've resulted in a no gain and more than likely would've forced the Niners to attempt a FG. As an Eagles fan that play was infuriating because it NEVER should've resulted in a TD. The Eagles DL owned the LOS and the Niners wouldn't have won the game even if Purdy didn't get hurt on a Reddick strip sack. The Niners QB's got hurt because their OL was overwhelmed and it was their downfall. You didn't see Jalen getting hit like that. Most fans knew the Birds DL was gonna wreak havoc on the Niners OL and that's exactly what happened.
@@seanw1392 I would say 34-3 or possibly 38-3 as the Eagles didn't even try to score after the strip and recovered fumble in the waning minutes. They were in FG range immediately and chose, and rightfully so, to just grind the clock.

Philadelphia is a perfect cure for modern NFL bullshit. They dominate the LOS and control the game. No pass happy bullshit just plain old good football. The game is the game and it doesn't matter what the trends are. Love watching them play. They're going to beat KC.
I have to say that when Brock Purdy got hurt, the game was over for all intents and purposes. Eagles could DARE the replacement QB to pass thereby taking options off of the table for the 49ers.Then the replacement went down. It is impossible to win in the NFL without a QB. A championship is a championship which is always nice, but we will have another look when they play a real QB next week.
It really broke my heart that people say the Eagles only won bc Purdy was out. As if it wasn’t because of that Eagles Defensive Line that he got knocked out of the game in the first place. Another excuse that people used that made me upset was the excuse that the Niners could only run the ball. In a way it’s valid, but I’ve also seen the Eagles DESTROY teams by ONLY running the ball and everyone including the other team KNEW what was coming and they could do a damn thing about it. That is the mark of a truly dangerous team. The Eagles won that game fair and square. They earned that victory like all their other victories. And the times they lost, well the other team earned that win. Give the Eagles their props. They are legit. KC should be on high alert. But sadly I don’t think it’ll matter, the Eagles are just too good. They were the most consistent team this year and I think that’s ultimately why they’re so damn dangerous. They execute at a high level and they do it over and over and over again.
@@shootthechit Yes, of course it had an effect, that’s not the point I was trying to make. The point I was trying to make is that the Eagles defense won that game. The Eagles disrupted the entire offense of the Niners. Then they ran the ball down their throats. It’s not like Jalen Hurts had a ton of passing yards. They ran the ball for almost the entirety of the second half and the Niners knew they were running the ball and you know what? They couldn’t do jack shit about it because the Eagles proved that they are just better than them. Stronger than them. More disciplined then them. Give them their props.
Actually, Brandon Graham is more productive now than when he was 25 years old. This is his first double digit sack season and yet his snapcount has never been this low.
I’m a Niners fan but those big guys up front for Eagles have great technique…explosive and they play with heavy hands…Javon Kinlaw for the Niners has the size and power but has zero technique about his game…to leave our 3rd string TE against the Eagles best pass rusher was just crazy to me and it resulted in Purdy not finishing the game

The eagles are so stacked that ndamokung suh doesn’t even start. Avante maddox has made huge strides this year and having slay and CGJ just makes it so there’s so little room for error if you’re an offense going against them. And then they have hands down the best o line of the league and it probably ranks all time. Combined with devante smith, AJ brown, Jalen hurts AND 3 running backs that can gut defenses like they’re all starters
Eagles defensive philosophy is about targeting opposition QBs throwing arms. 9 out of 10 time the QBs throwing arms will eventually get injured if any defensive players try to take the throwing arms out. Can not pass a ball..game over. I smell BountyGate 2.0

If Purdy doesn't get hurt on that play....he gets hurt eventually. the 49ers could not stop that pass rush at all. In theory, Shanahan may have called a great offensive game and won it, but in reality, the Eagles talent negated that from ever happening. The better team won.
Outstanding analysis. Done with no emotional attachments, just facts. Defense wins championships period. I also agree with your point on the outcome Eagles win regardless, with or without Purdy or even Jimmy G. That defense will not allow them to lose. Thank you.
I agree with you. Had Purdy stayed in the game he probably would have been battered. Shanahan's blocking scheme was horrible. He tried blocking him with a pulling George Kittle. Reddick is too fast. The Eagles are just a better team point blank. Niners ran into a defense that was as good or better than them.
I have been an Eagles fan since 1959, Never have I seen a defense as skilled as this one -including the great D that took us to the Super ("STUPOR BOWL"-they played as if in a daze!!) Bowl in 1980.Sometimes the Eagles fan base causes problems for the city's rep around the league because of an abundance of unsportsmanlike conduct of some "fans" in their treatment of other non-Eagle fans such as after the 49's win.. This year is an exception except for the one video I saw of some 49'r fans AFTER THE GAME being ridiculed and taunted on their way home. To me that was over the top.WE WON THE FREAKIN' game ----what was that all about? Let us win with class. WE have a tremendous team worthy of the respect of all even those who have no idea what self-respect is. GO EAGLES!!
Both defense played great. 49ers defense was only wore down due to being out on the field too long with no QB (quick 3 and out). 49ers held Hurts to barely any passing game. Had Purdy not been hurt, it’d be a low scoring game and a coin toss.
Great video and breakdown! I am an eagles fan but also a student of the game. Most games are won in the trenches and this eagles defense isn’t getting enough credit.
Excellent breakdown 👌🏿. We can analyze this game all we want but at the end of the day one team had a Qb and the other didn't. Eagles did what they needed to do and deserved to move on but we really don't know the Eagles win regardless. I don't think anyone in the league respects JJ as a passer and once he was gone all the Eagles had to do was play the run. Congrats to the Eagles to making it to the bowl but the football gods robbed us of a really good match up. Hopefully we can run it back next year.
I agree. Unfortuantely, the players play and the coaches put them in position. And Kyle Shannahan put the 49ers in a losing position with his bad schemes (a TE against Reddik??). And worse than that, after Purdy got knocked out, Shanahan made no adjustments and then JJ got knocked out. As an Eagles fan, I was robbed of seeing a good game. But the 49ers lost due to bad coaching, just as the Eagle won due to good coaching (and better schemes).
It’s unfortunate that Purdy left the game early but let’s not kid ourselves thinking the outcome would’ve been any different maybe a touchdown closer maybe not idk
@Ross Kramer I see alot of saying it's Kyle's fault (mostly 49er fans) Purdy got hurt because of bad scheme. Here's my thing.. if it's a bad scheme when your Qb gets injured then it's a bad scheme when it worked the other 50 times we ran it. You can't have it both ways when we've been running that playaction all year and the TE makes the block. Idk how people call Kyle a genius because his runs and passes look the exact same but in the same breath say his scheme is bad because Reddick made a play and the Qb got hurt. Brocks injury was a freak accident I've seen plenty of Qbs get their arm hit while throwing that didn't result in a ligament tear in the elbow. I'm not sure what adjustments you wanted him to make with the 4th string Qb. He literally fumbled a snap that gave the Eagles 7 points before half.
@@Nvme18 Niners were running play action on teams successfully but none of them had 4 d lineman with double digit sacks. Reddick is probably the fastest edge rusher in the league. Shanahan and the OC should have been able to see that from film sessions. The eagles had 70 sacks during the regular season. I guarantee Reid won't have Reddick singled up on a TE. One on one with a starting TE is a mismatch let alone a back up. McGlinchy was outmatched as well. Purdy would have been battered had he played the whole game.
It must have been hard for them, knowing SF had a no armed man playing QB. And Philly's offense? They needed A LOT of yellow flags to gain less than 300 yards. The talk of them dominating SF is silly. Are they a really good football team? Of course. Are they the '85 Bears on D? Ha! The greatest show on turf? Nope, but they still have turf - eeew. Good luck.
THE D line did their job against the niners. Reddick is the one who should be given for taking out Purdy right off the bat and basically won the game at that point. Niners had no chance after Purdy went down.
Tremendous breakdown on this defensive line of the Eagles Sanjit. The Eagles were going to win no matter what. The defense came out and brought the game to the 49ers from the opening snap, and it was going to be a long uphill battle for my San Francisco team.
That right side of our line was abug problem last year mcglinchey just never developed as a pass blocker hoping burford(RG) improves this year hes added muscle he looks good
one thing to note about Brandon Graham as well is that he tore his Achilles last season in Week 2 in a game against the 49ers. honestly having one of his best seasons; 11 sacks on the year and cannot be understated how beneficial the depth of the dline has been. should've been nominated for comeback player of the year
Kyle left the REAL DPOY one on one with a back up TE. Reddick bulldozed his block and then bull dozed the QB. Kyle had options: 1. Design a game plan that gets the ball out quickly to avoid the pass rush. 2. Block Reddick with the O-line like the Eagles did. Lane and Mailata shut down Bosa. 3. Double team Reddick. There were options. They chose none of them. They still left the TE on Reddick 😂😂😂
Eagles had constant false starts which was never called , gave up a safety which was not called . And benefited in the 3&4 quarter with all the flags keeping a tiring defense on the field
@Mar Par lol how is it a safety if the ball is at the 2 yard line when he goes down? Do you know the NFL rules at all? They don't false start its been explained many times
I really think the NINERS would have had a better chance if Brock didn’t get injured, yes the Eagles played great … the NINERS defense played good also but the penalties killed them to have any chance … they locked Hurts & WR’s up, the defense stayed on the field too long because of the mistakes due to turnovers which made it a field for the Eagles. I would love to see a rematch & the outcome next time … then we can really talk !
I think everyone who is being even moderately reasonable understand the 49ers will to win left the building when Purdy was injured. They were just going through the motions at a certain point.
With that pass rush coming at him time and time again? Nah I don't think it would've changed much, probably more turnovers if anything because of Purdy trying to force the ball
@@yanks2661 Purdy can get away from pressure, that's why he's better than Jimmy. I think any other game he takes that first, doesn't get injured, and then adjusts and informs his timing. He's not a statue like Jimmy.

If the Chiefs WR's don't get healthier by the SB then you're just going to see a repeat of this asswhooping. I didn't see the 49ers beating the Eagles and said it looked like it was going to be a blowout. I don't think if Purdy played the whole game or not mattered. After seeing Dallas defense clamp them down the way they did with the 49ers biggest offensive plays being penalties and that illegal play to Kittles. I was like the Eagles have 3 good corners and 2 fast linebackers, their going to smother this offense.
i’m actually terrified for Mahomes’ ankle. if the Eagles defensive line is able to repeat the performance they had here, Mahomes gonna need a lot of injections to stay in the game. Fortunately for KC, i think they have better pass pro than the Niners. but it’s impossible to match up against this defensive front.
@@AniSage Yeah plus you just don't want to blitz Mahomes too often either. If Kadarius Toney is good to go then that will definitely slow down the Eagles a little. Kid is crazy talented and will be a beast next year with a full offseason in that offense.
@@AniSage True but sooner or later everyone has to blitz Mahomes. He gets the ball out too fast and if he starts moving around then you're really fucked. @@34blackula our 4-5 pass rushers have been so dominant that we don’t have to blitz. our front goes right into the backfield while everyone else keeps the play in front of them. we got more aggressive when it became apparent the 49ers were gonna be physically unable to pass the ball. we were able to sit on the run the entire 2nd half without fear of getting burned deep. of course, you can’t just run the same thing against mahomes, you have to continually vary it up and give him new looks and wrinkles off those looks.
on a gassed 49ers d, the refs calling flags on 3rd downs(when philly needed to extend their drive the refs called soft penalties, the niners were demourlized on top of the fact that they had no qb. quick three and outs offense cant move the ball defense gets no rest.

Interesting take and that defense is good, but the real story of this game is the Eagles put 31 points on the number one defense. They will crush KC in the Super Bowl.
Brandon Graham one year off of tearing his achilles had his best season ever sack-wise at THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OLD playing limited snaps. This dude went from potential bust to Eagles hero. His stats won't get him to Canton, but I think the Eagles should retire his number anyway.
What a crock…the only domination of the 49er defense was when the QB was hurt in the first quarter. A junior high coach could load up 9 defenders against the run. SF had no passing game.
Hassan Riddick low key the best player in the league this year. Hear me out the guy seriously dominated other teams O line. So many times we got short field advantage because of his way to get to the QB and cause turnovers. I've haven't seen A line yet this year be able to block him other then Washington

Agreed.
should've been 31-0
BountyGate 2.0 mate. NFL will soon find out about Eagles defensive philosophy. Targeting opposition QBs throwing arms at all costs.
@@seanw1392 I would say 34-3 or possibly 38-3 as the Eagles didn't even try to score after the strip and recovered fumble in the waning minutes. They were in FG range immediately and chose, and rightfully so, to just grind the clock.
@@hondaphan4172 it couldve been higher score for sure but eagles just decided to take mercy. Proof of that eagles put in Minshew last 5mins (though it makes sense since niners were going for him harder than they did the RB) didn't even bother worrying since they defense wasn't letting them play.
Brah ! Love your breakdowns, mad insightful. Just an FYI, Brandon Graham actually had his most productive season from a sack total standpoint. In his 13th year coming off an Achilles last year, he, for the first time, reached double digit sacks. Fly Eagle Fly 🦅
Other fans been sleeping on Eagles defense. Ok, Brandon Graham is having his best year of his career right now. At least in a stat perspective. Maddox has been a dawg. He was missed being out. CGJ also being back is huge, another dawg. The best tackling DBs on the team. At least the most willing. FlyEaglesFly !!! Great video.
Finally someone who doesnt act like purdy got hurt BEFORE the game started. The line wrecked that game!
Exactly. Too many people talking like the birds got a pass on that game. They knocked those guys out of the game with hard, physical play. If SF wants to compete they had better protect their passers, period.
@@cvn6555 they lost five all year and dickheads like aiyuk still saying they wouldve exposed us 😂 cant expose if you cant protect the quarterback. They havent been able to do that all year

Philadelphia is a perfect cure for modern NFL bullshit.
They dominate the LOS and control the game. No pass happy bullshit just plain old good football. The game is the game and it doesn't matter what the trends are.
Love watching them play. They're going to beat KC.
I hope so man. I can't stand Mahomes or the chiefs
Thanks for the respect from an Eagles fan. I was rooting for Geno and the Hawks in the playoffs this year.
Reddick is a physical freak, I'm not sure why people don't give him his credit. He's the most explosive defensive end in football
WHOA>>>>> this is the best channel i've found on analyzing the line. EXCELLENT work!!!
Actually, Brandon Graham is more productive now than when he was 25 years old. This is his first double digit sack season and yet his snapcount has never been this low.
Awesome film session. Not only the Eagles defense have a great game plan for the Kyle Shanahan, their Dline was money the whole game
You a goofy fk out of here you ain’t no Niners fan .. goofy
@@rltw2753 your the goofy…I’m a fan but I also know football…name something in my comment that’s not true…learn some football first before you come at me
Leaving the 3rd string TE had nothing to do with it .. Purdy needed to step into the pocket and he would never have been touched . Learn sone football and watch sone film GOOFY
@@rltw2753 Well, if you watch the film on that play. There was zero room to step up, there were three green shirts all around him. Plus It's Tyler Kroft, Hasson Reddick is a top 5 pass rusher. It was over for him from the jump. It's insane the biggest idiots act so high and mighty.
@@DankBirdGang52 zero room ? There a whole pocket my guy wth
Shame on Kyle Shanahan for blocking number 7 with a TE2
Eagles defensive philosophy is about targeting opposition QBs throwing arms. 9 out of 10 time the QBs throwing arms will eventually get injured if any defensive players try to take the throwing arms out. Can not pass a ball..game over. I smell BountyGate 2.0
Luv your analysis!!!
Man, what a great breakdown - this was an instant subscribe.
Very well done, great job!
It was a 1 dimensional game in my opinion. Would like to see this matchup in the future.
Nice breakdowns, Very in depth......Fan for half a century, being a native- SWphilly, it's strange though; The 2017 appearance let all the air out of this appearance... When they win it; it's not going to taste as great as the first one. I hope Kelce gets another ring...Jalen is a winner! ***GO BIRDS***
The first one always tastes the sweetest but if the Birds take care of the Chiefs like we expect I will consider this Eagles team to be the best in franchise history...or at least the best one I've seen in my 63 years.
No this one is to prove that the last one wasn’t just a fluke, that Philly can not just field “good” teams, but we can feel dominant teams while still maintaining the hard working, take nothing for granted, mentality of Philadelphia, we may not be underdogs right now, but we know how much it’s takes for our teams to get to where the Eagles are, and to never take that for granted!

If Purdy doesn't get hurt on that play....he gets hurt eventually. the 49ers could not stop that pass rush at all. In theory, Shanahan may have called a great offensive game and won it, but in reality, the Eagles talent negated that from ever happening. The better team won.
The Eagles guessed right on several plays here, but having Riddick scream off the edge with no contain responsibilities is a risky move.
Outstanding analysis. Done with no emotional attachments, just facts. Defense wins championships period. I also agree with your point on the outcome Eagles win regardless, with or without Purdy or even Jimmy G. That defense will not allow them to lose. Thank you.
You don't know that for sure and we never will.
Good stuff man. Eagles fan but objective. Thanks
GO EAGLES!!
Good analysis. Just found this channel, subscribed!
Nice Breakdown Sanjit. I hated to see it but kudos to the Iggles.
Both defense played great. 49ers defense was only wore down due to being out on the field too long with no QB (quick 3 and out). 49ers held Hurts to barely any passing game. Had Purdy not been hurt, it’d be a low scoring game and a coin toss.
First vid Ive seen of yours and just subscribed. Great content.
Great video and breakdown! I am an eagles fan but also a student of the game. Most games are won in the trenches and this eagles defense isn’t getting enough credit.
These guys are putting grown men into submission
Purdy would have been battered had he played the whole game.
man bg is such legend
can't wait to hear you breakdown the next one 😁 let's go birds!!
Good luck.
Exactly.
Still better than the 9ers
The defensive linemen have excellent quickness, drive, and technique. The defensive scheme is successful because each player is doing his job.
THE D line did their job against the niners. Reddick is the one who should be given for taking out Purdy right off the bat and basically won the game at that point. Niners had no chance after Purdy went down.
This is Some of THE BEST DEFENSIVE LINE PLAY I'VE EVER SEEN!! MAYBE...JUST EVER IN THE NFL!! THESE GUY
You did a great job breaking down everything.
Tremendous breakdown on this defensive line of the Eagles Sanjit. The Eagles were going to win no matter what. The defense came out and brought the game to the 49ers from the opening snap, and it was going to be a long uphill battle for my San Francisco team.
That right side of our line was abug problem last year mcglinchey just never developed as a pass blocker hoping burford(RG) improves this year hes added muscle he looks good
one thing to note about Brandon Graham as well is that he tore his Achilles last season in Week 2 in a game against the 49ers.
honestly having one of his best seasons; 11 sacks on the year and cannot be understated how beneficial the depth of the dline has been.
should've been nominated for comeback player of the year
If for 2 quarters you knew the other team was just handing it off I think you’d look a little better
Kyle left the REAL DPOY one on one with a back up TE. Reddick bulldozed his block and then bull dozed the QB. Kyle had options:
I really enjoy your game film breakdowns, could we have one on the Eagles O-line versus the 49er's D-line?
Eagles had constant false starts which was never called , gave up a safety which was not called . And benefited in the 3&4 quarter with all the flags keeping a tiring defense on the field
@Mar Par lol how is it a safety if the ball is at the 2 yard line when he goes down? Do you know the NFL rules at all? They don't false start its been explained many times
Great video 👍🏽
Riddick is a menace, should be DPOY finalist
If Purdy doesn't get hurt on that play....he gets hurt eventually. the 49ers could not stop that pass rush at all. In theory, Shanahan may have called a great offensive game and won it, but in reality, the Eagles talent negated that from ever happening. The better team won.
Love your breakdowns! Liked and subbed. Btw how do you source your game footage? The angles are awesome for play breakdowns. I'd love to know.
It's all-22 footage
The amount of ground covered by Reddick between 2:38 & 2:40... unreal
@@34blackula we have one of the lower blitz rates in the entire league so that shouldn’t be an issue
@@AniSage True but sooner or later everyone has to blitz Mahomes. He gets the ball out too fast and if he starts moving around then you're really fucked. Let's face it, you guys didn't sit back and just wait on the 49ers to do their thing. That's the best way to stop a read option team, blitz their asses and light up that QB.

W Eagles gonna take it all!
