@Fabian Good point! This was filmed in June, it had just rained in the days before then in Ireland, so the conditions weren't that dry. But definitely with the draught of this summer, NO campfire making! Cheers, Julius
I was watching this with my 4 year old daughter. As Dylan hit himself with the axe knocking shelter poles in, he said ow. My daughters response was "Careful" :)
When I first discovered your channel it was like nothing I had seen, it was different. People generally didn't like different, I was the same, but after some time, you guys have become one of my favourite channels on RUclips. Thanks for sharing your unique style, cool personalities and intrepid adventures. Cheers from NZ
Your video editing, camera angles, scenes, EVERYTHING. Just incredible. I cannot share your channel enough. Wholesome people you two are!! Much love & keep it up 💙
Love the way you both bicker with each other then help each other in the same sentence. When Dylan was shouting and swearing when getting the reeds I was half expecting to that GB axe flying through the camera shot 😂😂😂😂
So awesome to see you guys out again! Looks like it was a rough start with soaked clothing and Julian's cut, but you rolled with it and when you worked together and had common goals, you made it look easy! Your pup is a real trooper too!
Love this first half and can't wait to see the rest. It's still so interesting to see the similarities and differences between here in the US and the way and resources where you are. Love the channel and look forward to your new videos as well as catching up watching all your other videos. I love the way Jager always claims a shelter just as you are getting it finished LOL. That is exactly what my dog would do as well.
Love your channel, your amazing positivity (often in adverse conditions) is infectious. I love the chemistry between you two. Until now I have never ever posted a comment on You Tube, this is the first time as I am so happy that you are posting again. Keep going guys! and if you are ever in London it would be a pleasure to buy you a beer, or many..
You guys are the real thing, cool that you manage with very little equipment and it's not about how much you've spent on the latest fashion bushcraft shiney thing, keeping it real out there cracking all best Will🍻
I really like your content, editing and filming. The videos are real and authentic, with all the mistakes, the falls, the explanations and even when you get stuck and don't know what to do, it's what makes it real and shows a scenario that can happen to anyone of us in the real life while traveling. I found your channel a couple of days ago, and already watched most of the videos. Keep up the great job guys! Thanks for filming and sharing it with us! Greetings from Israel :)
This is the one of the best survival channels I ever found! I enjoy watching your videos! I can learn from them and have a good time too, hope you guys will never give up!
Haha 😁 had to break off the film to tell ya how funny that was about the coastguard and two people tripping on the rocks lol haha, quality. Laughed out loud and my dog came to see what I was laughing at 😁😁
Good balance of personalities between the two of you. Julius is more positive and Dylan is more practical. Different views of any subject or situation makes for better ideas and outcomes. Can't wait till next week. Will they make fire??? Will they survive???
Not trying to sound like a know-it-all, but i see you making the same mistakes I keep making in my bow drill practice. Hopefully I can help? Spindle thumb thick, good. The length seems a little short. If you stretch your fingers out as far as you can, you want the spindle from thumb tip to pinky tip. That’s about 9 inches (23 cm) for me. Your bow should be as long as from your armpit to your fingertips. Move your arm from the shoulder, which your doing great on, but relax your grip a little and use your wrist to keep the bow level with the ground. Your form is good, but you want to drop your chest down to rest on your leading knee. This will get your bowing arm down farther into a more relaxed position and help keep the bow level to the ground. You are starting your spinning too fast with too much pressure, and this is the biggest mistake i keep making. When you first start spinning the spindle, start slow, pushing down only hard enough to keep the spindle in the hole. You are getting smoke too soon and charring the dust. It’s hard to be patient when you really want that ember and really need that fire, but you have to be patient. You want to fill the notch with BROWN dust, not black. If it’s black its already burned and there’s nothing to feed the ember. It took me a long time to realize that. When I did I started having a lot more success with bow drill. Once the notch is full of BROWN dust, then speed up to create smoke. Once you have smoke you are going fast enough to create the heat needed to form the ember, and you don’t need to go any faster than that. Any more speed and you are just wearing yourself out. You have to save energy for multiple tries if you don’t succeed the first time. Once you start getting a lot of smoke, you should have your ember. Take the spindle out of the hole, carefully remove your foot from your hearth board, then gently tip the board away from the ember a little, give it a couple taps with the spindle and remove it the rest of the way. Hope you see this and i hope it helps. Thanks for your videos. I always enjoy watching them. Edited to add: something i forgot to mention, try not to let the bow tap the hearthboard like you were. You don’t want to disturb the dust in the notch. And some crushed up green leaves in your bearing block will help lubricate it too.
Whoo, great input my friend!! Thanks a lot for taking the time writing this! The BROWN dust you want and not the black is really an eye-opener!:) Man, weren't we creating massive smoke screens haha, al burned out black dust...:p In the editing the slow drilling was actually mostly cut out btw;) But I gues it should have been even slower anyways to prevent the dust going black! Looking forward to future bow drill practice already! Cheers, Julius
No, thank you two for the time you put into your videos. Your quality and some of the beautiful shots I’ve seen in them are outstanding. I have picked up a few things from watching them, so I thought I would try to return the favor.
I love the video and the others and even though I know that you guys upload once a week I still check every day and you guys take care of nature and pay attention to your supporters. Thank you so much keep up the good work
I am so glad I knew what you were doing during the last couple minutes, when it was dark. If I just started watching then, I think I would have had the wrong idea! 😃
I can’t tell you the last time I laughed.. let alone at this video and your personalities. I paused it at 09:08 cracking up and subbed then kept it rolling.
Keep making videos! I love to watch survival videos and you make the best ones! Can’t wait till I have the knowledge like you do to go out on my own or with friends and do survival challenges
I love the way they talk, first video of you guys and I'm subbed! You guys are fearless wading through ALL that. I think my soul would have left my body after seeing that fish splash. I can't imagine what else is down there. Maybe because I live in Australia, I'd be pissed scared to do anything.
man these two guys should have well over 1M subs, their video's are the same quality if not even better then other survival channels that have over 1M subs... I love you guys' channel it is amazing!!!!!
I once did a water crossing similar to yours. now i always keep a big durable black garbage bag, to throw my gear into, and tie it off. But i still haven't tested. keep up the awesome videos!
Watching this video turned my yesterday 24 hour survival on an island in Sea of Marmara at a sub-zero temperature from feeling hard due to cold weather and soot over my beige overcoat, Fedora hat, 3-piece suit and wool/nubuck gloves "_soaked_" in soot to feeling a breeze compared what you've been through in the video.

Mailman daily I predicted you were going to say something like that. No, I didn’t have to watch this video for that; I listed alternative things that a person could learn from this video, people who don’t have experience in this field, since you were indicating that there was nothing educational about this video. 😉👌
A trick I learned once when dealing with some kind of water crossing is to wrap all your gear up and tie it in a tarp/big waterproof piece of material. This bundle usually floats and you can swim it across to the other side. Of course, it's not applicable here as you only have the axe and knife so good job anyway!
You guys are a hoot. Love watching you. The bow drill....well...personally I think you are applying too much pressure. You are charring the spindle well and creating dust but going through the sweet spot and drowning the fiber pile. Back off the pressure. When you feel the spindle drop into the sweet spot just keep the same pressure for a while then bare down a bit more. You will notice you were getting good smoke for a while then it would become less so...you are drowning your pile and smothering it. I damn sure am not an expert by any stretch but I am certain this is the problem. But at any rate, very good content and you guys are truly awesome.

I just discovered your channel a week ago and what you two do is amazing! And maybe you should explain what you're doing..
