@@goat9896 Because I saw a few episodes were they lived in Ireland. I was new to the channel and I mean you seem like a big fan but that won't make me instantly understand they're not Irish.
I've watched a lot of dollar store challenges but this was by far the most entertaining. The 5 minute shopping time limit made it hard to find and pick the best items. Julius you should have got a lighter. You know how important fire is. The foil and battery hack will not work with a battery pack where the positive and negative terminals are turned in opposite directions. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks for all your efforts guys.
Holy mother...I always wondered what the story is with your accent, and thought that you must have lived in Ireland for a while, but this shop is in the hometown! Cannot believe it!
WW2GERMAN WANNABE Sorry but you clearly dont understand the joke here😅 I explain it to you; when Julius says flashlight, he pronounces it like that sounds little bit fleshlight. If you dont know what that is, you can google it up😀
Looks fun. I recommend making a raised bed for wet ground places like this place. Just putting logs together would even be good because you're off the cold ground.
I would say the dog won this one - he got right up next to that wall and claimed the most wind free spot. Since you brought him kibble, and put water in the "dog" bowl, all he needed was for you to put a fire about a meter away from him. He set up camp in 2 seconds flat, winning this round! This was very enjoyable. Thank you.
You can appreciate the heartiness of the early people of Ireland. It's cold and damp, and requires a determination to survive. It's also beautiful as hell and has many natural resources.
Nice work on the bin bag shelter, using them as sleeve tiles like that was my first thought, but using the string the way you did saved a lot of work over using sticks.
ooh, i like that shelter! with the overlapping bin bags. It's not the knives fault, that type of knive has a pretty specific use. That's why it's flexible like that.
true, the price was 2.99 if i remember correctly, a disposable item. cheap steel, hollow soft plastic scales, and tin rivets.. it was made to break so shouldnt really be allowed in western europe.. ;) Cheers. dylan
Wow! Y'all got a LOT of comments on this challenge! I didn't take the time to read through them all, so please excuse if this is a duplicate. To make fire with batteries and foil, if one battery doesn't work, try lining them up positive to negative and then the foil. Of course the foil must be long enough to reach each end of the line of batteries. Have the narrow point of your foil touching the paper/fiber you want to ignite, as you won't have very long before it burns & breaks at the narrow point - then no more heat. Good luck & Cheers!
always good challenges haha that bargain store was slim pickings. your battery trick did not work because either the foil had a thin plastic layer on it so the electricity could not flow or the middle was too thick/wide allowing the current threw it to easily thus not heating it up. also normally utility knives are made out of carbon steel so you could try sparking off of it if you find some quartz?..
Good points, and also it seems to only work with aluminium foil with a paper layer, right? Yeh, making a spark with carbon steel, but any suggestions on what to catch the spark then? I would not have any charcloth or fungus at hand now... Thanks for your input! Cheers, Julius
Smooth Gefixt or you remove a wire from the flashlight and make a spark, anyway the sparks will be so crazy small from a aaa that im not sure youre making a fire, why a flashlight in the first place what use had it?
yea im not sure about the tinder it was pretty darn wet out there and im not sure what you could use where you live when its that wet lol... and yea the paper on it in a gum package just acts as a good tinder source im sure if you had something dry enough maybe fluffed up some of the paper from the packaging it would work also... the three batteries together also would have a better chance of making it work more voltage threw whatever you had as the short circuit/resistor would produce higher current and thus higher temperatures.
mixster4711 the wire from the flashlight is sized to run with the power from those batteries it would not have high enough resistance to make any heat or spark form without stretching it alot thinner than it is.
natsyrt m i now i understand how its works, the thin part of the foil supose to ignite (like a light bulb), not sparking bij short touching it. Cool i gonne try this! Thnx! Looking forward to part 2!!
Great vid guys just one observation, it's a lot more important to have a raised bed then a rain shelter. As you probably know, lying on the cold ground will suck your body heat from you quickly
First minute in: Dylan you cut your hair! I'm gonna go cry now! Love seeing Jaegar , I love GSD Had a white one as a kid and a Belgian cross a few years ago. Such amazing dogs.
I have no idea where you were placing the foil on the pack, I believe they're wired in series, so you may have just been on the wrong terminals. It's not just top and bottom. I love how when you march off to the bussiness of survival, the dog just jumps around a bit and is like "alright, let's go have some fun!" I love watching that dog. Makes me miss the old dog a lot, and is making me rethink which breed I'll get down the road.
First time seeing you guys and the second i saw the intro i was like "That cant be Ireland" Then i see the damn hurley and Clare jersey and what not xD

I think this is one of the most interesting episodes. Since practice makes perfect, it would be interesting how the two of you would do the same thing again. With your previous experience you will improve your items of choice and the use of them. I think the ultimate challenge of survival is in the limitation of the items one can use. Anyone can survive on a 15 kg bagpack. But how about with 3kg of gear? or how about 1kg? and 100 grams of gear? Or you can explore the limitations of volume, for example, how long can one survive with what one can bring only in their pockets, etc. Or as you did, the limitation of 10$ of items from the 1$ store. That's the real challenge. Good job with your videos.
Hey its me again haha As you were doing this,I was in the woods with my bro as well. The challenge was to not put a shirt on. I escaped the bugs by staying near fast moving water and I caught a cold. haha I was excited to see this. Going to hit play and will comment on part 2.
Nice vid! Where is this filmed (around fort william?) love to check it out someday! Planning to do a doller shop challange in the higher alps (cause of the tricky weather will be intresting)
Instead of saying messing around, the word you can use is "littering", like "people are always littering". Messing around is more for people being foolish like messing around with a knife is like throwing it and catching it :) Love the content guys!
Smooth gefixt looks like you made 3 fatal errors from the outset...doubling up on knives, expensive flashlight which doesn't seem to be generating fire (I think the foil you picked up is plastic coated and on paper like chewing gum wrapper so doesn't conduct) and didn't get a container...if you'd bought a lighter and the coffee in a tin instead, you'd have been brewing up within 20 mins of reaching your campsite! As any ex-British Army dude will tell you, a brew is a massive boost to morale and raises your core temperature plus rehydrates, and boiling water purifies it. But taking the big plastic was definitely a good move, not cheating at all, but making use of available resources. I'm sure Bear Grylls on one island scenario made use of all the litter washed up on the shore, i.e. plastic bottles and rope.
For anyone who wants to know, they are in loughrea, Co. Galway, Ireland.. And Smoothgefixt, if you see this.. Did you learn english in ireland or something? There so many hints of an irish accent in the way you guys speak english
The main camera is an panasonic GH5, than we have a Gopro Hero 4 and Sony X3000 actioncam. And Dylan also has a real budget nikon compact camera. Cheers, Julius
The aluminium won't heat up because "narrow" strip in the middle is still way to broad. It was a small chance but better tryin then dieing.. Great show again guys!
Really glad to see you are back. Question, did the store not have duct tape or was there a reason you did not pick it as part of your initial purchases?
we had 5 mins to spend the 10euro... i didnt see tape anywhere and didnt need it either with the twine i guess! also the budget was spent! lol Cheers. Dylan
Smooth Gefixt wasn't trying to be critical of you guys. I was just trying to understand the thought process and how you decided what to prioritze for purchase. Duct tape is used for cordage, fire tinder, making containers, wound dressings and a number of other survival purposes in the community where I live it is a sort of all purpose item. I don't know if it is used that way in other places or if it is not as available in Europe as it is in North America etc. Sorry if I came accross as overly critical I am honestly interested in the reasoning behind different approaches to solving the same problems.
Julius, here. Nothing wrong with being critical anyways;) We have no experience with using ducktape in the bush, we used to working with the more traditional/natural items than I gues the modern prepper methodology. But I can see it could have been a good option and plenty available also here;) Thanks for your input! Cheers, Julius
Great video. I think the foil must be thinner in the middle we will see in part 2. And I get the problem with that small shopping car those thing are so short I always kick them over
Thanks for watching part 1!:) Check out part 2 here: ruclips.net/video/1hKASnAnaO8/видео.html
Smooth Gefixt. I cannot wait for part two, I am so excited.
Smooth Gefixt pls so unlimited time grocery store challenge
Thanks for great vids! How tall is he? It looks like the store is full of midgets compared to him.
Smooth
Nice video idea you have abo and like from me thats a video like i drem
On behalf of retailers everywhere, thank you for putting the coffee back on the shelf and not expected the store clerk to do it!
Ive always thought it was rude not to, i suppose some where just raised different
I like how the tall guy pulls the hand cart and the “shorter” tall guy just carries it like a boss.
The beginning is hilarious. To see the Nephilim running around the dollar store
and everybody giving weird looks
Is this man like 8 foot
I was gonna ask if he was William Wallace for he is said to be 7 feet tall

why spend 4 dollars on a flashlight with batteries to make fire when you could just buy some matches for 20 cents
Sten Prostyle u can’t make fire with a flash light
Low chances of one fire but Batteries become useless so the flashlight but a cheap matchbox will give more fires

Hey guys, great watch. Just curious where that ring fort is or what it's called? Thanks!
Quick tip when starting a fire like Julius is attempting the foil needs to be lined with paper and might've worked with the packaging from the knife
I think the carving knives were for carving meat or fish hahahaha
