Everyone's saying wrists/arms, but imo just as much strength is built in the core and back wedging and wheel-throwing! It requires an absurd amount of muscular strength, control, and dexterity, especially when working with a lot of clay at once. (Not to mention flexibility when the clay is stronger than your muscles and tries to take your whole body with the wheel 😅)
Not like that 😂 but you do end up with alternating layers of dough and butter so in that regard it's similar. I learned to do that in school. It was exhausting but not as exhausting as throwing clay around like that :)
@Kathi-096 well, we where in huge warm and stuffy kitchen in school, no ventilation at all and had to do everything by hand. So for me it was exhausting. I also suffer from chronic pain and, so for me it definitely was exhausting! I commented based on my personal experience.
@@Maddie-096probably a different situation if you had a well chilled room and laminating machine. In my school (in Indonesia, btw. So you get the idea how the climate is here) it wasn't exhausting because we had a super freezer, laminating machine and cold work room
Unless it contains excessive amounts of water, clay only really sticks to itself unless pressure is applied, so it pretty safe. High quality clay is a lot like play-do
@@sam-ey7qk yep when using a pottery wheel you should really tie your hair up if it's long, especially because the machine can catch your hair and pull it, but otherwise it's not necessary
It's a cool idea but, from what I understand of porcelain, the layers would all fire the same colour and the laminations wouldn't split or flake like with real dough. She could repeat the process after colouring one or both of the clays though. It'd be cool to see!
Something you should’ve done is to not use all of the wet one at first, you should slowly mix more and more of the wet into the dry until it’s a good texture, I’ve never done pottery but I think that’ll work. Of course you can’t do that with this clay but if you ever find yourself in this situation again you can try it!
Your hair is so pretty! 💕 i take ceramics classes at school and the most strenuous part is when we make our own clay each semester! Still worth it for what we make
Giving that clay, a good wack is really fun, but it’s also really hard! I have a love-hate relationship with wedging. On the one hand it’s a great way to get your frustrations out, but on the other hand for someone like me who has a really stretchy and squishy wrist joints, wedging is such a pain, literally and figuratively 😅
The bags keep moisture in so it’d probably be better to lay it out in a sunny spot and just add water little by little to the harder clays until they’re where you want them Hope this helps!
Girl, I have missed your content. Months ago, while going down the RUclips hole, I found your channel and thought I had subscribed and watched alllllll of your shorts. Today I have found you again thanks to the algorithm. Now excuse me while I go catch up on the rest of your videos. I subscribed for sure this time 😅
Haha! Watching this is just making me think back to the one pottery class that I took in Uni. My professor always told us to eat dinner before coming, then because we'd be having a workout every day. He was NOT wrong. More fun tgan the gym though, lol
I recommend getting a plaster board to work on! It can really help dry out your clay faster :) you could wedge some of this on there for 5 minutes and have it the perfect consistency for throwing
This same thing happens with my polymer clay sometimes and it’s soooo frustrating. I cannot imagine spending this much energy just to still have a wait at the end😭
This video is amazing, thank you for taking the viewer along your way of planing an one shot. I want to make one for my friends. But didn’t really knew how to really go about or what to look out for so this video really helped me 😄👍 Also your witty comments and jokes make it a joy to watch 😂
This is literally one of my favorite things to do. I wish someone would pay me to be a clay recycler at a local pottery studio. I would love it it’s my favorite way to de stress. If it payed a solid living wage I would totally be a caretaker for pottery studios. I get creative drain regularly but cleaning tools covered in clay, repairing the tools, recycling clay and mopping the clay from around the room my comfort job.
I think where you "went wrong" was when you mixed all of the pieces together when you should just added it a little at a time until you got your preferred texture
throwing pottery must make you strong as hell
You definitely notice when you haven't done it for a while and you go back!
Your arms at least 😂
Wrists of steel lol
* sore as hell, lol

If the internet has taught anyone anything, it’s how croissants are made

The technic is called pâte feuilletée if you wanna look it up (it takes DAYS)

I'm so obsessed with how you present the mixed clay like an animal crossing villager showing you a bug
Madoka pfp??
Lol fr
The bravery to work with clay with your hair down is beyond me.

All those shoulder gains

Shes so beautiful help 😭😭😭
Op..
Now I lowkey want to see you make croissants.
Exactly what I was thinking! 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Exactlyyy like a clay object shaped like a croissant
You should use the clay to make an actual porcelain crossiant when it gets the right texture
It's a cool idea but, from what I understand of porcelain, the layers would all fire the same colour and the laminations wouldn't split or flake like with real dough.

Holy crap that looks really heavy! You must be like superman level strong! Damn! ❤❤
that table is the real hero here
I would love to just go watch you work for a day. It’s so relaxing to me to see you do your art😊
Girl you are so beautiful, I love your hair!!
Came for the imaginary picture of actual clay croissants in my head
Stayed for the IMPRESSIVE arm & upper body workout
YOU'RE SO BEAUTIFUL OH MY GOSHHH
This makes me feel so grateful for the wire we have set up permanently next to the wedging table, so I can cut the clay without interrupting my flow.
I thought there’s gonna be an actual clay croissant at the end of this 😭
It’s amazing how you can still see the layers that far into mashing the two together.
I thought this was gonna be an actual q u a s s ô n and I am now disappointed:( ur super strong tho so good job
why is she so fkin gorgeous, like damn
I'm over here feeling that too. Smote 💙
Average up stair neighbour activity. 😂

I don't work with porcelain I use wild clays, but i always have some dried and pulverized clay on hand so I don't have these issues.
The bags keep moisture in so it’d probably be better to lay it out in a sunny spot and just add water little by little to the harder clays until they’re where you want them

i bet you’re ripped girl this is awesome
Me thinking: “hey at least it’s a good arm workout.” 😆😁💖

Love your work - would a lower work bench be better for this process?
That looks so delicious wth 😮😅

Off topic but she is so beautiful
Darn, I was so hungry too! I just wanted a good recipe showing how to make croissants!
I absolutely love how clay almost has a mind of its own. It does what it wants, unless it deems you worthy to mold it. Clay is a powerful entity.
You must be buff as hell!that looks so tough!
Starting with a smaller amounts that are quick to wedge to test out approximate ratios might help, saving you time and ur future self arms ^^
Those cuts are just too clean
You’re so cute omg

Who was waiting for her to make actual croissants with the clay… 🥐
I lost your videos! I couldn't get them in the algorithm for like a solid few months now I can finally subscribe lmaolo
Tbh it looks like a good workout
maybe weigh dry/wet clay and mix parts instead of the whole clay?
Love that!
I recommend that you put the clay on a sheet of plaster, it will absorb just the right amount of moisture.
I’m so disappointed, I was expecting a croissant made out of clay 🥺
I was so curious how you would make that flaky texture with clay
I'm tired just by watching you working hard
youre so fucking strong theres no way i would be able to pick that up even a milimeter
I wish this was shown as a demo for the structure of clay when I took soil science

This is the workout I need 😅
We must imagine Sisyphus as a potter
Love the way you just slam that slab of clay 😂❤
I never thought I'd see puff pastry dough clay
Loveee your voice
Now I understand why people use pottery as an anti-stress
I cannot imagine the arm strength needed for this, my arms are sore just watching 😭😭
Not a potter, but it’s a good rule of thumb to treat everything like it goes a long way, cause you can’t unmix stuff. Guess it applies to clay too
punching and throwing clay must be really calming for angry folks 😂
