I can easily see Spy X Family being one of those "anime to recommend to someone that never saw anime". It will surely be a hit among non anime watchers.
Definitely a good choice for that. It has a lot of the good things anime does without really any of the trashy bullcrap that drags it down.
It will be a great intro to slice of life for many new viewers.
I feel like they won't understand the visual humor that isn't standard for their culture
for sure, I always thought opm was a great starter anime too because its really funny, but also cool and serious at times and it has a lot of action.
Definitely, I got a couple of people into manga with lending them my SpyxFamily volumes, and now I am dragging them into the anime with this as well lol
"She flashed him on purpose"
15 Years of martial arts never led me to a weird aggressive flashing meet-cute and now I feel cheated of my high school experience
Well you should’ve done ballet moves at school.
I mean, I did do the butterfly kick that wowed the girl in the video, zero panty shots, none, zilch, I had to use the internet to get flashed...like a peasant
I'll say this much, getting hit on by a girl who is currently kneeing the crap out of your ribcage, while your both wrapped up in a Muay Thai clench is... pretty great not gonna lie.
you should have practiced the 4000 year old chinese martial arts
when she know you know she know you know
Okay I know Summertine Render ended up stuck in Disney jail and that's probably why it's not getting sold as hard as it should but I am here to tell everyone to please check it out! It is actually a perfect story, there are no flaws I can find in the plot, not a single thread goes nowhere and every tiny detail is put to use. Literally the best type of mystery series you could ask for and the supernatural elements somehow just blend well into it without being super weird. The manga is finished and I read the whole thing in like 3 nights after hearing an anime was in the works. The anime itself is confirmed to be a full 25 episode series, split over two cour it seems, so I have high hopes that it will cover the full manga plot. I don't want to say too much more so that people can choose to go in totally blind if they want. But again please check it out, it is worth the time and if you only watch 3 anime this season make Summertime Render one of them.
I watched an episode just because of the way he described it
now small town timeloop murder mystery is a thing I really like, since erased, despite it's horrifically rushed ending (and moreso the entire adaption being rushed), it still rings in my head as one of the best things ive ever watched, more so because of how much I like this oddly specific genre.
I usually don't watch seasonally, but this is going to be an exception.
Glad I'm not the only one not sleeping on this GODLY mystery psychological anime
Came to this video just to here him talk about it and whilst I'm surprised he didn't it definitely feels like the kind of anime he'd make an entire video about so I'll keep hoping
Didn't realize this show was with Disney plus but I was wondering why it was missing. It's a great show I'm happy to have stumbled upon.
Alright, if there is no annoying fan service I'll give it a shot
I’m already calling that Spy x Family is going to be the reigning king of reaction shot gifs this year. Anya is a little chaos gremlin and she must be protected at all costs.
She's already the reigning champ of jpg/png reactions.
Thank God she's got Twilight and the Thorn Princess around, because that gremlin has the self-preservation instincts of a lemming on Disney's payroll.
Kaguya-Sama’s also probably going to go pretty hard with it’s reaction GIFs
I see you guys are men of culture.
She's a wholesome mood and a vibe. I am fully prepared for the take over.
“As a man who ACTUALLY watches every new anime”
*Gigguk sweating nervously*
At least he watches one to three episodes of most new anime.
Can't blame him. I rarely watch more than one episode of a new anime myself nowadays.
It just doesn't grip my interest anymore. Most stuff just feels so generic.
The anime man pretend he didn't hear that...
@@poppers7317 a lot of the ones I see here aren't even on crunchyroll and gigguk hasn't bothered mentioning them..

Tired of anime where a modern guy goes back in time and either knows what's going to happen and tries to stop it or impresses everyone with his genius?
Now we have an anime where a guy goes forward in time and has to learn all the new things!
Now that's a show I wanna watch
Futurama
As a professional dancer myself, people need to know that dance and ballet is a sport. It is incredibly difficult and not at all "girly"
It's a sport with artistry and storytelling. We push our limits and train our bodies mentally and physically. Men who dance are freaking cool and badass. We need to let go of this stigma for male dancers. Plus we need to get rid of the idea that all female dancers are delicate and fragile - because that is absolutely not the case either. Dancers do not starve themselves, if anything we eat the most. Anyways, love that ballet is getting another anime since the only other one I remember is Princess Tutu (I loved that anime when I first saw it).
The problem with dance dance danseuer is that the source material doesn’t go into the ballet part in a slightest. All it does is some minuscule drama about how the sly white haired boy got harassed by his crazy grandma back in Russia, somehow making it to be the “prodigy”. Also the girl he likes gets snitched from him by a rebellious newbie. This is the impression I got from reading 50 chapters and I don’t think I want to wait for another 150 to be translated.
The plot is extremely similar to Ballroom e yakoso, however, the latter does a much better job at making the viewer interested in the subject right off the bat. Also I felt like the character development (especially the 2nd arc) in welcome to the ballroom was on much higher level when compared to dance dance danseur
Anyway, if I had to choose something to get myself aquatinted with ballet, I would rather listen to 10 hours of Tsiskaridze’s lectures on RUclips
If you haven't watched it, I'd also recommend ballroom e youkoso. Obvs anime so not steeped in being realistic, but I feel it does a really good job and covering dance as a whole. With the pressures, emotions, struggles, that surround it
tbh only thing thats keeping me from watching it is the NECKS. WHY DOES THAT TEACHER (IM ASSUMING SHE'S A TEACHER) HAVE SUCH A LONG NECK JESUS CHRIST. I'm not really into shoujo art styles (im ok with watching anything with that style tho, just not a fan of it) but oh god those necks
I swear to god i opened youtube thinking, "i have no idea about any of these spring '22 shows, wish mothers basement dropped some knowledge..and then bam. Thank you.
I've been waiting on this video since Saturday.
All I had to go on this week was FIVE new sports anime from a friend with very specific interests. For the record, Birdie Wing is dumb as hell and I absolutely love it.
I JUUUUST SAID I NEED ANOTHER RECOMMENDATION VIDEO AND HERE WE ARE!

My problem is that I knew of some of these and already had it on my "damn... I want to see this" list. Then Geoff had to come in and ruin it by tossing in another 10-15 shows I already don't have time for.
SO... THANKS A LOT MB! THANKS A LOT!
My anime weaknesses are found family, couples unexpectedly put together and organically developing feelings, people growing into parental roles, overcoming past trauma, children trying their best, and dramatic irony.
You could physically stab me and I would experience less feelings than the first episode of Spy X Family made me feel.
Have you watched 86? It also has many of these elements, but just a warning: you WILL cry (multiple times lol)
spy x family is dope
Damn are you me?
feels like i made this comment
Ho boy you're gonna want to read the manga after the season is over. It's probably going to be your all time favorite
The best part of Shikimori is that they’re already together, so it’s just watching all the cute things we love.
Yeah, pretty unusual for romance.
I'm trying to compile a list of manga and anime like that!
Congrats on the move good sir! Also, thanks for doing the heavy lifting on the recommendations. These breakdowns are super clutch.
I am expecting sweets inspired by Deaimon in the future from you Chef! lol
I know right? As I've gotten older I don't have the time to three episode test random shows when I'm trying to find something to watch. Being able to grab something from Jeff's lists that matches my current vibe is the best part about these series.
My mom's reaction to these, in order:
"I already - what's the word the internet uses for wanting people to kiss?" "Shipping." "I ship it! I hope they get married, have a nice apartment and live happily ever after."
"This boy is my son." "Mom, I'm your son." "I don't care, I'm adopting him." Also, later: "Panty flashing a guy isn't the dumbest thing a girl's ever done to flirt. I jumped over a bonfire to impress a boy once."
"Anime managed to make golf interesting! That's incredible!"
"I'm adopting this girl." "You can't adopt every kid in anime." "Yes I can."
After Geoff said there was a possibility of the two leads becoming a couple: "Oh, it's like your Aunt Judy and her wife Rachel! Judy could murder people. And Rachel has that other girl's haircut."
"I ship it. We're going to watch this one together."
"I'm adopting both of these two, too." "Mom, these two have parents!" "But they could use one more."
"She's too good for both of them."
"I'm going to watch this whether you watch it with me or not."
"This girl is-" "Your daughter?" "No. But she can be my grandkid who tells me about rap."
Also my mom thinks it's adorable Geoff has plushies and if he ever comes to Montana, she's giving him my old Hamtaro limited edition plushs whether I like it or not.
Love that your mom is so passionate about anime :) While I'm an adult, my mom has dipped her feet into anime as well, loving One Punch Man, Parasyte and My Hero Academia the most (this lead me to buy her a winter cap and scarf combo that looks like it's for any university and only those in the know who read the "Go Beyond, Plus Ultra!" on the scarf will know she's not cheering on some obscure university, lol. Got a matching set for myself as well). Hope you two have some fun times watching shows together!
I never leave comments anymore, yet I just wanted to reply to this to say that your mom sounds like a fun and interesting person, and that her reactions (plus your responses to some of them) honestly got a genuine fit of laughter out of me; it makes me wish I could talk about anime to my own mom, but she's never understood it really. Thank you for sharing this delightful exchange, and I hope both you and her have good days watching shows together :)
P.S. I find her wanting to adopt precious fictional children both adorable, and very relatable, even if I tend to stray towards the troubled teen kind of child a lot alongside the huggable cinnamon rolls, haha.
She should do a collab with Geoff. Sounds like a person who is standing with both feets on the ground.
What a funny mom XD
Your mother sounds like an absolute delight.
I haven't really been in the sphere of the Anime community the past years but it's crazy to me how much popularity the romance series have gotten. It's like night and day when back in the day of early Anime fandom (at least for me) where Shounen was all that reigned supreme and romance series were considered girl Anime - even the ones more catered to boys like harems.
yeah, times were pretty different back then, lol. Especially considering that back then things were a hell of a lot less available, lol. Really, the growth of anime has really let people branch out in terms of taste and bring a lot of different niches to the forefront.
Romance anime is the worst genre and im sad that there's not much good anime anymore
To be fair, this season is just especially packed full of romance shows compared to other recent seasons.
Dress up darling is VERY a good
Spring seems to be filled with a lot of romance and a lot of Shonen have moved on to doing seasons, rather than constant weekly episodes with lots of fillers. This makes more space for isekai and Slice-of-life to fill since there is an abundance of them.
Shikimori-san, Spy x Family, and Ya Boy Kongming are what I'm watching this season. And they're good but I'm really surprised on how great Ya Boy Kongming is. An absolute must watch.
The story is a bit too simplistic like in Dr. Stone. Characters are stereotyped, there is no character development and you know all stratagems will work out. Nevertheless an entertaining anime. I'm just a bit surprised he positioned it above Tomodachi Game which I think is at least an order of magnitude better.
Chiky Chiky bang bang Gang rise up!
a lot of sports anime not mentioned
can't find the ya boy Kongming manga on any of the apps I use witch sucks
family guy
"Yuusha, Yamemasu" (Hero, Stop it!) is one that I'm surprised to see went under the radar. It's an interesting isekai about a Hero who saved the world from the Demon Lords but after defeating the Demon Regime, the inhabitants began to fear his power and also wanted him gone, so he submitted an job application to the Demon Lords he defeated to join them as their minion and to climb their ranks.
It's one-part comedic business management, and another part mystery.
is it an isekai? I don't think they mention it is. Seems like a fantasy setting
Fantasy, future setting like isekai
I agree it's got an interesting plot and great characters
@@irfanhaziq5011 I'm not sure, but the beginning seems to mean something. I dunno if it's an isekai or it's just a person living out a very convincing video game simulation. So it could either be an isekai or a straight fantasy/scifi.
Where do you watch this
I genuinely saw someone say they dropped the executioner’s way of life when the fake-out guy died because it ‘stopped being interesting’. Like, that’s when it *started* being interesting.
I think it got hit with the fact most weeks/otakus don’t appreciate reality checks like Grimgar Fantasy.
People will really watch a show called "the executioner and her way of life" and then get mad when that way of life includes executing people.
I'm on the light novel train with this one, so I'm just looking forward to when I can talk about the really cool shit. Oh, and volume 7, which just came out.
@@kintamas4425 no lol
@@kintamas4425 I'm not sure it counts as grimdark, but it definitely is dark. Also, I'm sorry for those who couldn't handle the bait an switch, but… how to put it… they need to grow up, go outside, and touch some grass.
As a side note, I'm not sure I would have started watching the show if I didn't know it isn't a standard Isekai. Maybe I would, but not before watching this video, that's for sure.
You should recommend Talentless Nana to him then.
I just discorvered Puripi Koumei ( Ya boy Kingmong) and it is just amazing ! Truly a hidden gem this season. And the opening is just such a banger !!! Cant stop listening to it !!
"Kingmong" ok Latuswolker
Im having such a blast watching it. It's so flashy and inspiring.
It might be the top 3 for me this season. I just need Summertime Rendering to air now
Um where can I watch it I don’t see it on Crunchyroll?
@@frankjiao8574 Thanks for the correction. I am sorry if I angered you with this mistake.
@@watoyatoauto8526 Yes I am eagerly awaiting that too !!
I'm so happy you included Ya Boy Kongming! I feel that's gonna be overlooked.
The fact that it's not on Crunchyroll but on HiDive might have hurt it, but honestly, I went and got a sub for it anyway and it was definitely worth it...
Healer Girl had singing DURING the talking part, they've only done it once so far, but that does make it a musical
I think more people should be excited about this
Edit: they did it for basically all of episode 3, I was crying the entire time.
I was also wondering why Healer Girl was missing. It is one of my favorite non-sequels this season....probably mostly for the music. So far it is a nice iyashikei with some stunning visuals during the healing scenes. The spoken line music is a bit simple but the songs during the aformentioned healings are actually really well written.
Gotta make up for Redo
I'm surprised Kotoro Lives Alone didn't make this or winter's list. It's a surprisingly tragic comedy which had me laughing one minute and crying the next. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the anime. I tried to find a translated version of the manga but couldn't for the life of me.
Kotoro Lives Alone probably the best surprise I've ever stumbled upon in anime. I'm hearing barely anyone talk about it but it's honestly fantastic, made me very emotional at times.
@@hotcoco9966 I guess it is because it is in netflix jail? I never heard of this until you had brought this up and when the first result shows netflix, my interest just vanished immediately
@@YouDonkeyfu i definitely get that, but trust me it is quality. And i really liked the dub voice for kotoro too. But the themes it tackles and what it has to say about them is so mature and complex that I honestly wasn't expecting it at all. Hoping it gets a 2nd season.
@@YouDonkeyfu I think it's all up on Netflix right now though
If Netflix wasn't so expensive, I'd get it back to watch that show. It did look good, what bit I saw of it.
Season 3 Ascendance of a Bookworm is the hypest thing for me this season. I'm just so excited. It's one of my favorite shows, I've read all the light novels that are currently translated into English (which is 17 so far), and is my favorite Issekai by far. The animation so far seems to have really improved this season, too.
Yea this is the only thing that could beat my hype for Shield Hero coming back. I loved the first 2 seasons of Bookworm and looking forward to seeing what changes winter and apparently the ink guild are going to bring to the table.
I've been keeping it to physical copies so far, but I'm with you. Looks like they're going to be wrapping up part 2. All things considered, 12-14 episodes for two books is not bad at all.
@@aroventalmav888 sorry to break this to you but Bookworm S3 is confirmed to have 10 episodes.
@@maynehrenfest9898 ah, that's a shame. Not that bad a rush though.
Me and a friend are currently working our way through season 1 an episode per week(I’ve binged the whole thing his first time) I’m holding off on season 3 till he gets caught up
I really like the fact that The Executional and her way of life further subverts the isekai wish fulfillment that I’ve grown tired of. I like that that it subverts traditional wish fulfillment isekai tropes by having it actually be a women focused yuri anime. I want more yuri isekai anime.
I thought I started a standard isekai, until it became standardn't.
agreed, anime got my respect in the most epic way possible
I could take or leave the yuri, and any romance [since romance isn't needed for a good story imo]
but
I love the way they've handled common isekai tropes, so far. There's a lot of hints at some developments that would make this anime even better. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.
When she killed that guy i actually laughed out loud and gave it a standing ovation.
It's equally hilarious how people are still malding that fucker from episode 1 died.
I know it's a sequel, but Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 is going to be amazing. It's a great continuation of the same complex world building of the previous 2 seasons that expands the scope of the world even further than before.
I want to see the reactions at the end of season 3 because there is so much that happens! It's only 10 episodes, and it's going to fly
I watched the executioner and her way of life after seeing this video AND THAT ANIME WAS TARGETED AT ME SPECIFICALLY.
Cute gay assassin who fights with a knife in one hand presses all my buttons, and realizing that the OP was sung by Mili was an incredible surprise. A really good time all around. I wish there was more of it to watch or that it could be expanded into a bigger show, but I'm glad that it's as incredible to watch as it is.
agre, hope for a season 2
No
What I want to add is that Love after World Domination is also a first class parody of Super Sentai in general. I mean the main team is themed after ice cream and the "evil" organisation has better working contitions then most modern businesses.
i’m so glad to read some positivity abt the executioner and her way of life in these comments! i was introduced to it via a tiktok of someone being pissed she killed the generic guy and the whole comment section was just a bunch of sexism it made me really sad bc i thought it looked so good! i’m glad there are people who like it for what it truly is!
Those complaints and the comments you mention sound more like an endorsement to me !
I'm no feminist, but the loser power fantasy and vapid harem tropes prevalent in isekai can burn in a ditch.
My only issue with the show is that it is not on crunchyroll according to this video.
@@LethalShadow the tears of incel nerds everywhere was the thing that brought me to this show yes.

"because that's what I fear every time there is a father-daughter anime especially when she is adopted" yep. me too. let's all pray it remains wholesome.
I read the Executioner manga so I wasn't surprised but it absolutely cracked me up how mad people on MAL got over the dry toast protagonist getting double isekai'd.
Then again as a female type who likes other, prettier female types and has to squint at most isekai for that hit of wish fulfillment, maybe I'm not much better. Really says a lot about society.
No it reall doesn't say anything about society.
It was a joke, making fun of those who say stuff like that.
I just find it hard to get into Assassin stories. Idc that the bland protag got zero'd immediately. But I do care that the show is setting up it's real protag as an assassin, but will expect me to sympathize and care about their happy ending.
Like no. You kill people and try to pretend you deserve a happy ending. The worst kind of person, imo. It just ends up making me root for the villains in their stories. It's why manga like Assassin and Akame ga Kiru don't appeal to me in the slightest (though Akame's original art is to die for).
Though, I will say that I usually make an exception for redemption stories. Not sure why those specifically hook me in. I don't wanna admit the twinge of hypocrisy in that preference, especially with the rant I just went on, but then again we're all flawed in many ways. Lol.
@@zeropolicy7456 Menou doesn't pretend she deserves a happy ending though. She openly acknowledges that what she is doing is cruel and that the people she kills have done nothing to deserve that fate, that it is a necessary evil. The whole pure and proper priestess thing is the way she tethers her sanity. She does what she does because it is what needs to be done, nothing more, not to be celebrated, not to be empathised with.
@@zeropolicy7456 I mean if you watch it, it makes it plenty clear that she is a brainwashed operative and is in a constant state of PTSD and grief over the shit she was essentially groomed and cultivated to do
I'm just here to make sure Ya Boy Kongming was represented, I already knew Shikimori and Spy x Family were going to be well-loved 😌😌
Bro, people should watch yaboy Kongming already. I literally waiting every week for this anime. The plot is greater than I expected.
Yeah me too.
Where can you watch it?
@@Zanewolf1 it's on hidive.
The OP is living rent free in my head! Also yes we need Kongming to keep rising up the ranks just like EIKO!
As a person who decided to watch The Executioner and Her Way of Life out of habit of being a fan of Mili and hearing that they made the OP, I was glad to see the show was good, actually. I hope that the show keeps up the great worldbuilding it has going for it, as the concept is great even to a guy who watches every single trash isekai that comes out and finished it whether I can even bring myself to enjoy the last few episodes. Though I like the concept specifically because I think I enjoy the thought of someone whose job is exclusively to kill the isekai protagonists is great since if you watch those stupide things long enough you think that perhaps some people should NOT be given god powers.
weirdly enough it's usually the people like Hajime in Arifureta that shouldn't get those powers, as even when people complain about the cookie cutter protags gettings all the girls when they have the personality of cardboard, they also aren't the type of person to use their god like powers to nuke a city because 1 guy pissed them off, because maybe just maybe, the guy with a deep hatred for those around them because they were constantly bullied shouldn't suddenly gain the power to make those same people suffer because they clearly never had strong morals in the first place if they first thought is "fuck anyone that looks at me funny now"
I was interested until the whole Minority Report premise- murdering kids who were pulled into the world against their will because of something they MIGHT do. Really pissed me off more than anything, and main girl only lives because plot armor. The boy could have used a friend and guidance in an unfamiliar world a lot more than a knife to the head
@@TheChrosst pretty sure the point was she waited until he showed sign of not using his powers for the best of things, after all it was as soon as he thought out loud that no one could stop him if we wanted to kill someone she ended him

The Executioner and Her Way of Life is an anti-Isekai, and I'm here for it.

@@grimoireweiss5203 Part of the world building is that the "Lost Ones" helped advance the world to what it is with their knowledge and influence. Bu their power of "Pure Concept" means that they can manipulate the natural laws of the world. They only kill them because the use of their power wears away their mind until they inevitable lose control. There were some world ending disasters that happened to lead to this. The first "Lost One" we meet can erase anything from existence. I wouldn't let him live either.

As a Aharen-san manga reader, it always makes me so happy when I see good reviews for the anime
The Usagi Drop Dread, a very real concern in any found family anime.
I 100% headcanon that Love after World Domination and Miss Kuroistsu From the Monster Development Department take place in the same world.
There have never been a pair of shows that need a crossover episode more.
I found and watched Ya Boy Kongming completely randomly and until a while ago had no idea it was one of the highest rated anime of the season! In fact I was expecting a mediocre gag/idol anime but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both the animation and the story. Few shows have made me feel so attached to the characters.
Idol genre is a good base but 99%of them have literally no character development or growth.
Ya boy kongming is a good example for checking the necessary boxes for a good anime and then adding the extra good value.
"Nani the fuck-" Bro shit got me laughing on my chair I almost shit myself tho

Throwing some well-deserved shade at all the “anitubers” who do all of their recommendations based on the MAL thumbnail and a paragraph description.
I completely agree that a good anime is not amazing subject matter, but the ability to make any subject matter amazing. I was extremely skeptical going into a sports anime about a sport dedicated to reading poems, but now Chihayafuru is my favorite sports anime. I'm definitely going to give Golf Girls a chance.
Love is war 9/10
Spy×family 9/10
Summer rendertime 9/10
Ao ashi 8/10
Tomodachi game 8/10
Love after world domination 7/10
These are all the animes I am watching
I’m surprised summer time render wasn’t mentioned, and I haven’t really seen it in the comments too. Granted, the first episode aired yesterday. But it looks quite interesting and promising
He only talked about anime currently available in the west for legal streaming. Summer time Rendering is licensed by Disney and, as he stated in the intro, is being held in Disney+ jail. Similar to Netflix jail, this means that they wont air the show internationally until it is finished.
@@herlastborn He should stop not showing those anime. It's not like people don't know how to watch them regardless.
@@herlastborn Does that mean it might get reviewed once it comes to Disney+? Hopefully!!!
Soo happy Executioner and her way of Life made this list. I saw so many incels mad about the (their words) "alpha female protagonist", while I'm just here enjoying how refreshing it is to have Isekai that subvert the expectations like this. And besides, we only get yuri anime that isn't subtext once every two years or so, so I'll take what I can get
Absolutely seconded. I hope that the MAL score goes up, but I’m not going to be surprised if it doesn’t; I’ll still probably enjoy my fantasy isekai yuri show anyway. It’s not everyday that those three genres are combined….
"Alpha female protagonist"? Incels come up with the most hilarious justifications for hating what they hate.
I doubt anyone would say that, also enjoy it while it stays good gets real boring about a third of the way though
is it yuri though or just another yuri bait? im so tired of being bamboozled.

This man is a marketing genius, never heard a harder sales pitch that actually sounded genuine , and I have heard a lot in my 80 years working as a member of borutos marketing team ( that kid is a nightmare )
On the off-chance that this comment of yours is an actual life experience, could you... Elaborate on that, please? This sounds thoroughly fascinating and I'd like to hear more.
For instance, what about the sales pitch made it sound so genuine and what about Boruto didn't?

Congratulations on moving, Geoff! I'm actually packing my things for a move this week too. Good luck to us both!
There are so many gems this season that I wouldn't have found without this video. Thank you!
The executioner show looks interesting. Too bad it isn’t on Crunchyroll
I was expecting Crunchyroll to have most shows after the merger. What I wasn't counting on was Sentai concluding that people will still pay for two subscriptions and pulling out of every deal they could to load up HiDive with exclusives.
I didn't realize it at the time, but once they claw back all of their IP, they're going to have most of the shows that I want to watch instead of Crunchyroll.
It's super good.

@@emopeterparker7 It's an anime-heretical option, buuut...

Summertime Render had a very promising first episode! Supernatural mystery thrillers at it's best
Where can I watch it?
I'm so glad to see The Executioner and Her Way of Life getting such a hearty amount of praise. It's not anything I've seen people talking much about, so it's very pleasant to see it given such an ample slice of this video which mirrored my own reaction when I saw its rating on MAL. ^^
i genuinely dont understand why everyone hates it so much. is it because its an all female cast? the yuri?? christ
@@notcatisa It's mainly cause the guy got killed episode 1 when people thought it would be a typical isekai power fantasy scenario. So incel nerds who project are pissed about that and held it against the show.
@@jacobwilliams1223 no kid
No
I've gotten through the first 3-5 episodes of all the shows you recommended. My god man, I would've missed out on so much. Your channel has brought me back to anime in earnest.
I'm glad I'm not the only one terrified of an usagi drop ending in wholesome father adopted daughter anime
Same. It’s a fear I have for every wholesome father and daughter anime.
"Love after world domination" is under-appreciated by the anime reviewers I follow, which is a shame because it's just so much fun to watch the rom and the com, the two main characters are lovably adorkable, and you can't help but root for them. This is one of my go-to anime if I want to brighten my day with a half-hour of fun. Chaaaaaaaange Gelaaaaaaatooooooo!
Facts
"Sexy evil golfing vampire"
That's a sentence I don't think I could explain to any of my family
I keep coming back to this video after I finish one of the recommended anime. I want to make sure I get to watch all of them! I hardly watch anime anymore but still love watching your videos about them-and I’m so glad I watched this one. All these anime are EXACTLY the type I like and it’s been a while since I’ve found so many in one season. Thank you for the recommendations!
It's honestly a crime that The Executioner was that low, it looks good, the worldbuilding and magic is solid and very interesting, and the dynamics is already pretty fun as Menou tries to not get attached even though she's clearly already attached - and nevermind that OP, both song and visual. Kongming is my top show of the season though - such an absolute premise shouldn't have that strong an emotional core, but it does, and the music is great even though I wasn't a fan of the genre. Spy x Family is a given - I personally see it as alt world Kaguya-sama based on the first OP and the idea is hilarious to me. Shikimori is drop for now, that first episode doesn't have enough for me to sink into yet so I'll see it again once it has more episode, and I need to watch Aharen and Love after World Domination.
I think executioner will get a higher score as the season goes on and more of its target audience trickles in. Looking at the MAL reviews from the first episode is hilarious, given it's guys who like shield hero hating the protagonist for being amoral. One of them was literally just like hot take: I hate women lmao. I haven't started it yet since my ultra specific tastes are definitely gonna charge over it right now, but kongming is definitely one to binge once I'm done fangirling over sad lesbians. It just looks like a lot of fun and the animation looks great
Honestly I hope executioner gets some more like psychological horror. I like the premise and everything else is pretty good but there is a lack of drive or plot atm. once they reach the capital I'm guessing that will change though.
@@lilmrmagoo yeah, I haven't read much of the ln but the series strong suit is definitely concept over prose. Idk how much the anime can "fix" since prose issues both will and won't effect adaptation, but we'll just have to see. I do know we get some more graphic scenes coming up, so we just gotta wait to see how well executed it is I guess
Scores are worthless and don't tell much of a show's enjoyability. People put way too much weight on them.
Am i the only around here that finds seven a decent grade?
Okay now that you've talked about Princess Tutu, you must make a full video about Princess Tutu, an anime so good it should be held up alongside the likes of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
If you're curious, Noralities made a video on Princess Tutu a year ago
yes princess tutu is so good
This year would be the perfect year to talk about Princess Tutu, too, since it's 20th anniversary is on August 16th!
Wait is it really that good? Should I watch it even in 2022?
@@CompSomAnichi If you at all like stories about stories, where the characters know that they are characters and that the author is writing a tragedy, Princess Tutu is a must watch.
I'm very excited for Heroines Run the Show! For those of you that don't know, it's an adaptation of a series of songs made by HoneyWorks which have had some other adaptations in the past. HoneyWorks works primarily in songs, so I'd expect their songs to be as background music or an opening or ending, but I encourage you to check them out!
I do hope that they learn from the pacing disasters of "The Moment You Fall in Love" and "Zutto Mae Kara Suki Deshita" (their previous adaptations of which the source materials were great).
"The Executioner And Her Way Of Life would have been better, if [insert the commenter making it all about the bland-ass guy, turning it into yet another power fantasy, and decrying the real protagonist as a 'psycho killer bitch'], but because they didn't do that, this Anime sucks!" - A summary of every complaint about The Executioner. Gee, I sure do wonder why...
People unironically likes the guy... I thought the "self insert MC" was a meme and we all collectively dislike that. But no.... They're sad that greneric MC#113 got killed
No shout out for kotaro lives alone? That anime almost made me cry. Almost
You're a legend Geoff, thank you for all the time you put into these vids. Good luck to you and Yazy on the move!

I appreciate videos like this. Some titles i knew about but most i didn't know were happening. I also like the bargin bin suggestions .
Ya Boy Kongming's "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" OP is definitely the catchiest opening I've heard in the past few seasons. So much old-school vibe.
Is it actually in any way related to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or is that just a coincidentally identical name of the song?
@@jossecoupe446 it's based on the Hungarian song bulikirály by the artist Jolly.
truly, the "i watched odd taxi... while it was airing!" comment sold me on the show. there's little more satisfying than hearing my friends say they wish they had listened to me when i recced them odd taxi bc they enjoyed it so much once they actually watched it.
also man i love odd taxi. thank you very much for the stellar recommendations
I was really surprised by the executioner and her way of life ( in a positive way ). At first, the opening is what made me want to watch the show, but the first episode definitely convinced me.
The “NANI TF” @ 14:18 killed me 😂 ima start saying it like that 💀😂
THANK YOU for showing love for 'Ya Boy Kongming". I had no idea this anime exists and I thought I knew all the shows coming for Spring 2022.
Good to hear someone singing the praises of the Executioner's Way of Life. I have a bad feeling this will become the sleeper hit of the season.
I also really hope it does well enough to inspire production teams to greenlight other yuri isekai projects like "I'm in Love with the Villainess" and "the Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genious Young Lady."
Quality Reviews. I share and screenshot all of these videos and pin the top 10 list. TY for all the work.
Congratulations on this video hitting trending !
Ya Boy Kongming is just pure fire. That OP song is like pure cocane - an earworm of epic proportions and I could not stop listening to the 1 hour version on repeat for 3 days now. Send help :D
I realize the Anime Pope prefers his fires at least a little unsanitary, but if you ask me, pure fire is where it's at.
The one show you're really missing is Healer Girl, which is a delightfully bizarre original musical show from Studio 3Hz and the director of FMA Brotherhood. Strongly recommend for people who love previous 3Hz shows (Flip Flappers, Princess Principal, SAO Alternative Gun Gale Online) or Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight
Well with that set of similar shows, I will be adding another to my watch list. Thanks, I think. The list is a bit long...
I'm already struggling with watching too much this season and now you tell me there's a new 3Hz original? I am going to have to make some hard cuts this season
Aharen san was so funny with the character situations. I thought it was genuinely creative with how they interacted, and the dead-pan style had me laughing a couple times. It was pretty good
Nice video, I tend to miss out on keeping track of anime so I really appreciate videos like this
Thank you for talking about Executioner. Really sad how people would rather see another Kirito than something different for once.
Yet it starts with promising people another Kirito. From the sound of things, the show doesn't even reveal the boy's dangerous mindset UNTIL he discovers his dangerous power. It would be a different matter if the boy had an internal monologue that revealed misanthropic attitudes immediately, so that people would instinctively reject him as a hero even before the assassin decides he needs to die.
@@TerryBradstreet He has op powers that could and will with most certainly cause hundreds of casualties. Even if we would assume that he would have used the power only for good things (despite clearly stating otherwise), there is still the likely possibility that he could do harm by accident like shown with the otherworlder in the flashback in the first episode. And in the second episode it is clearly stated that just using the power corrodes their minds until they have nothing human left. Please don't confuse the powers with your standard gifted op main character powers that you see in lame self-insert powerfantasy-isekai. The abilities in this anime are not unlimited one-time special gifts for the main character without consequences.

29:11 That Odd Taxi joke had me in stitches lmao
Ya Boy Kongming and Spy x Family are absolute must watches. I feel like Kongming is getting criminally slept on even this late in the season. If you haven't watched it you need to watch the first two episodes. If you're not hooked after that you're a corpse
I think a lot of people don't have HiDive.

As the daughter of a ballet dancer, I’m so hype for dance dance danseur! Amazing male ballet dancers are the absolute best
Eiko is apparently the name of Kongming's wife from his 'past' life as well, or so I've heard.
I also think the "Hero joins the Demon Lord's Army" anime is a pretty decent comedy; the MC being a bit of a smug jerk about how good he is at fighting and shit is a nice change of pace from the usual 'no guys, he's an underdog, really' nice guys. The LOGISTICS is also fun, as usual.
Is that the same as "I'm Quitting Heroing" or are those two different anime with similar premises?
