    Why's this boxing debate always gotta turn into a CORNY ass racial epithet hurling contest among losers hiding behind the safety of anonymity? Point blank, Roger Mayweather is 100% correct. Roberto Duran IS (and I've said it in many a previous post) the greatest Latino fighter of ALL TIME; better than Carlos Monzon, better than Julio Cesar Chavez, better than Salvadore Sanchez, Zarate, Gomez... all of 'em. Ray Robinson would've murdered him at welterweight, though. Duran was the greatest lightweight of all time. What made him great was that, unlike the vast majority of Latino fighters, Duran was a supremely skilled defensive fighter when he wanted to be. Combine that with the Latino machismo, he was nearly unbeatable in his prime. Period. End of.

    • @hbsoc200
      @hbsoc200 8 лет назад +3

      Duran is the only fighter that said "No Mas." On the contrary, Julio Cesar Chavez senior was unstoppable, and with his defensive, mending style and body punches with that granite chin, Julio was a rare specie of its own. Chavez was also a great defensive fighter and had the two record Guinesse in boxing for winning streak and for having more viewers in boxing history. Remember 89-0 and he was forced to fight all his #1 and #2 WBC WBA mandatories defending his world titles 33 times. Chavez never quit and was fear by many. GGG, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather admires JCC and have said to see him as their idol. Check RUclips videos of those three fighters claiming Julio was their idol. Even GGG is using Chavez Mexican fighting style to beat his opponents and he admitted.

    • @daTruChosen
      @daTruChosen 8 лет назад +3

      Ruben Rodriguez Chavez Sr was a great, great, GREAT fighter. I grew up watching him destroy Haugen, Camacho, Taylor, Mayweather, and many others. He's certainly the greatest Mexican fighter that I have ever seen, without question. However, I stand by my opinion that Duran is far superior. Take the most technical fighters that each faced: Ray Leonard for Duran, and Pernell Whitaker for Chavez. Duran gave Leonard a boxing lesson and made it look easy... Whitaker humiliated Chavez and was robbed being given a draw instead of the lopsided win he should've been awarded. However, there's more. When Hagler had his reign at Middleweight before losing to Leonard, he defended his crown twelve times, eleven by knockout. Who was the one and only man who not only escaped the KO, but gave Hagler all he could handle in a close fight? That's right, Manos de Piedra himself. But wait, there's EVEN more. Mind you, Duran was the greatest lightweight of all time, but in 1989; at the age of 37, quite a bit past his prime, he absolutely savaged Iran Barkley at Barkley's natural weight class of MIDDLEWEIGHT, to take that man's fucking title. Duran was a god in the ring. Period. Number 10 on my greatest 20 fighters of all time list, in fact (Chavez is #13 on that list). Have a good day, bro.

I am Mexican-American and I'm a huge fan of all my Latino boxers Chavez Duran DeLaHoya etc. However I have to admit that most ATG's from my African-American community posses a magnificent style when it comes to representing their form of boxing. No dis towards my Hispanic boxers, their form of boxing/brawling is amazing on its own and certainly gets me excited. I agree because Chavez wasn't a welterweight, but at 140, Chavez would have beat Leonard. Remember that Leonard moved up from light welterweight to welterweight because he didn't want anything to do with the top light welterweight fighter at that time who was Aaron Pryor. And in my opinion, Chavez is the greatest light welterweight fighter of all time. At 140, Chavez is a MONSTER.

      Ramiro Guerrero Not so fast my friend. I don't know if Chavez could beat Henry Armstrong, Loi, Locche(Greatest defensive fighter of all time), Benitez, or Pryor at 140. They would be awesome fights!

    • @ramiroguerrero8413

      Storm Bringer Chavez did more as light welterweight than any of those guys. The same way Roberto Duran did more as a lightweight than any of the other lightweights in boxing history. I'm not taking away anything from those guys because they were great fighters, but they didn't rule the 140 pound division the way Chavez did. Whitaker only fought one fight at light welterweight because he didn't want to deal with Chavez in that weight class because he knew Chavez was the king at that weight division.

    • @stormbringer3788
      @stormbringer3788 10 лет назад +1

      Ramiro Guerrero I'm not saying Chavez wasn't the best at 140lbs. But the guys I listed certainly had a very good chance of beating Chavez at www 140, particularly Armstrong & Pryor. They would be hell fights Chavez.

      not only robinson, duran,sugar ray leonard,roj jones jr, prime shane mosley,prime manny pacquiao all beat flyod mayweather jr ass. By the way you r so foolish to say this, did you watch castillo vs flyod 1 , maidana vs flyod 1,oscar vs flyod (why no rematch?), flyod lost but corrupt judges gave the fight. All hugging,Injection IV, running. He is nothing in front of those greats. Have he fought the best in their primes. To talk of greats he have losen every single fight.

    • @neeraj9411600186
      @neeraj9411600186 5 лет назад

      @ looking like pure Mayweather fan. Answer my questions . 1) Why Flyod always avoid prime PAC ( 2000-2010) , to your knowledge everyone in boxing world knows he ducked prime fighter especially Manny Pacquiao, (Mohammed Ali,Lennox Lewis wrought on twitter facebook page requested Flyod to take Manny fight ) and Flyod let them get happen in 2015 ,if you see the fight it is shit, Flyod only running, Hugging, clinching, elbows is this how you call one TBE (it is fact or label on your TBE) or even anyone he fought in his later career ?
      2. Does ending farewell fight with past prime Andre berto and McGregor is act of all time great. You know why Mohammed Ali,sugar Ray Robinson,Henry Armstrong, Roberto duran,Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Joe Louis,Manny Pacquiao they all loss few matches because they are fearless , they fought the best available ? Not like Flyod cherry picking and ducking. To have that undefeated record in boxing is bullshit. Greatest boxer is know to whom they fought,when the faught (prime) .
      3) In one sense Flyod make boxing loose it's lustre by being overdefensive just to win by points to make undefeated record. Fighting toe to Toe , tirelessly fighting, fighting prime fighter that's the greatest boxers have. He brings disgrace to boxing as now days everybody wants to remain undefeated . That's all motto of now days boxers. See welterweight now . Errol Spence jr. ,Terence Crawford, Keith Thurman fight not happened till now. See heavyweight Tyson fury, Anthony Joshua , Deontay Wilder fight not happened. Nowadays ducking is not on the peak due to this fighter Flyod who calls himself TBE.
      4) Does Flyod ever fought Keith Thurman,Errol Spence jr., Terence Crawford,vasyl lomachenko? Ever. See many Pacquiao even at age of 40 taking a shot at one time Keith Thurman. May be if he wins we can see him fight Danny Garcia,Errol Spence jr, Terence Crawford fight.
      5) Seen the Jose Louis Castillo vs Flyod I fight. Tell me who wins. Whole world knows the truth.
      6) All time greatest lightweight Roberto Duran said on Mayweather :
      ruclips.net/video/o5jmahGJZGc/видео.html
      GreatestJulio Cesar Chavez on Mayweather :
      ruclips.net/video/CKn2oEe2aUk/видео.html .

      @neeraj9411600186 5 лет назад

      @ people/fan like you had made him the phenomenon. Flyod has amazing blind fan like you, hence he trash talk and made a lot money.
      Your 3 point show much stupid you are. Ali and other great fought after their prime just for money! You flomos just made disgrace to Boxing legends. Duran has 72-1, Chavez once was 89-0. To your understanding they had stopped fighting just to make undefeated strike.
      Who he fought?, he always ducked every prime fighter. He is such a coward. I know u blindly follow Flyod. This is Flyod strengths. Coward has coward fans. He fought in Las Vegas only. Dogs have there own area, that's dog strength. Lion can fight everywhere ,anyone.

      neer first of all I’m a boxing fan I didn’t get into boxing because of Floyd like I’m sure you got into boxing because of pac because you are obviously Filipino. All those champions are monsters. Duran Leonard Ali Roy Jones etc. they fought during a time where the competition was much more fierce and the money wasn’t as rewarding. Sucks they had to fight past their prime to make a living. Floyd fought everyone in his era he ducked nobody. Name a fighter he didn’t fight? The only fighters he didn’t fight that I wish he did was Sergio Martinez and Antonio margarito and That’s about it. So idk wtf you are talking about you just a hater. And I’m a pac fan it’s just facts that he has holes in his game he is very exciting but not even close to mayweathers level and if you want to criticize Floyd let’s look at pac. His biggest names on his resume is a past prime morales and Barrera, he fought cotto after margarito broke him with plaster then fought margarito after they took those away and got destroyed by Mosley and made cotto come down in weigh a catch weight and beat a dehydrated old de la Hoya. Fought Ricky Hatton after Floyd took his 0 so tell me how pac isn’t overrated

      I respectfully disagree. While Tyson was a great fighter, he did show true cowardice when fighters could take his punch and give it back to him. Evander Holyfield really exposed a tremendous amount of Tysons flaws. Plus, look at the mediocre fighters that went the distance with a prime Tyson. Tyson is like a hard biting, but cur pit bull. ATG nevertheless, but lets not forget his numerous flaws which would cause him numerous problems against many fighters.

SOLID WELL DEFINED BODY IN THE FIRST COMPARED TO THE SECOND FIGHT A BODY JUST WEIGHT LOSSED. FACT DURAN WAS PAST HIS PRIME WHEN JUMPING WEIGHT DIVISIONS. HE WAS RETIRING AFTER DOMINATING THE LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION BUT THAT CHANGED. SO ITS NOT THAT HE WAS ABOUT SAME AGE IT WAS THE HUGE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT HE HAD TO LOSE ON THAT SMALL FRAME OF HIS FOR THE SECOND FIGHT PLUS ALL THE DIURETICS HE USED GIVEN TO HIM BY MUHAMMAD ALI'S DOCTOR. FACTS. FUNNY THING THOUGH EVEN WITH ALL THAT THE SCORECARDS STILL SHOWED IT A ONE ROUND DIFFERENCE AT THAT POINT.

    Duran lost to Leonard twice. Leonard lost to Camacho. Camacho lost to Chavez, which makes Chavez better than both of them. Do you see how dumb this can get? We should evaluate them in terms of performances and not on paper.

      Do you really know about boxing? 1- Duran Beat Leonard when both where on their primes. 2- Duran at 46 beat camacho, they stole the fight form him. 46 years old...at that age chavez couldnt beat kawashi.

    henry Armstrong was prob 2nd best welter n 2nd best boxer period of all time. leonard is right there and further down u got whitaker n Floyd jnr. ''You think Chavez could whip Ray leonard?!'' That's it Right there lol. You CANNOT argue with him on that haha.

    • @ralphdupas6179
      @ralphdupas6179 3 года назад

      Armstrong welterweight resume is overrated. He mostly depended his title against lightweights and sometimes lightweights with losing record. Fans today are fucking Mayweather for fighting lightweight Marquez yet Armstrong did that consistently in his day.
      Kid Gavilan is probably the second greatest welterweight of all time. The guy was very underrated even among experts perhaps because he failed to become a Middleweight Champion.

    • @ryang790
      @ryang790 2 года назад

      @@ralphdupas6179ok... You seem to know your stuff. Armstrong threw more punches than anybody though, n would be a match for anybody. He prob wasnt even a big welter? Having won tiles at feather and lightweight? Id have to back and look at the history cos yes there are some like Barny ross? The original Jersy Joe walcott was a welter? Felix trinidad was a great welter too. Hector Camacho could have been up there if he'd trained properly. Tommy hearns too. The only welterweight in the day who handled him was leonard. It's prob down to the two sugar rays though who THE BEST Welterweights. Roger be fair.. Laila Ali was WAY bigger than Christie martin. If Duran had been a natural welterweight , he may have even topped the list. He was prob the greatest light weight ever.

    Pardon my ignorance, but aside from Marcel and Pedroza, neither of which are household names, who did Duran fight before moving up to welterweight? He did beat Palomino, had a close fight with SRL (that alone is a lot), but then lost to Benitez, Hearns, and SRL twice. He pulled off victories over a 13 fight champion in Davey Moore, beat a slow one-dimensional Barkley and lost to Hagler. He lost to several "unknowns" along the way. The guy was good, but where does his Greatness lie? I ask this with all due respect.

      Hoka Hey his record was 72-1 55 KOs as a lightweight and he was 5'7 and his most natural 135 pounder and he went all the way up to super middle(168) and won titles... his legacy writes itself also one of the last few to get over 100 wins aswell and his career spanned over 5 decades...

    • @Brigidare
      @Brigidare 8 лет назад +2

      You are looking at a Duran past his prime. Roberto Duran was the greatest Lightweight ever. He turned pro at 16 and fought Leonard at about 30 years old. He was 72-1 at the time.You talk about Barkley but he beat Hearns twice who beat Duran. Barkley is way bigger than Duran and Roberto knocked him down. Do your research. He is a example of a boxer who stayed around too long and ruined his legacy. He still is one of the best.

    Mayweather had a point about Duran jumping from lightweight to welter and defeating the undefeated world champion and gold medalist Co member of the 4 kings.
    That is absolutely incredible.
    However, Chavez was a bulldozer like no one before or since.
    Angelo Dundee Ali/Leonard coach said Chavez was the toughest fighter he had ever seen bar none.
    Duran fought bigger guys and was still awesome as he out boxed them brutally.
    Chavez steamrolled his weight classes. He didn't outbox anyone he just broke them all down.
    Duran is greatest lightweight all time but Chavez beats him at 140 or 147.
    There is a time and place Chavez catches up with Duran.
    Duran was a better boxer and Chavez was more powerful. They both have a ton of knockouts.
