Love the car reviews, keep up the great work. They are like a nod back to the early days of RUclips when individuals were starting up their own channels.

Autoalex needs to get Taylor his own channel reviewing cars, He was made for it. I'm sure driving and talking to the camera is not an easy task, but taylor makes it look so natural whilst giving a very inciteful review of the car.Could be the next Matt Watson:)
Taylor is such a brilliant presenter, and one that actually knows what he’s talking about too. Love the channel, and certainly love all the car reviews. Cheers lads. 👍
I’m 10 years into my mapped E90 330d Msport manual now and still love it as a daily. All E90 (even SE’s are fun to throw around) based models have a cracking chassis and feel small in this world of giant cars. Will have mine for many years to come. Your Alpina looks a lovely spec and in great condition.
I had 3 Bmw with N47 engine.. No timing chain problems... A friend of mine has an N47 E60 with 200k miles ( bought at 150k miles by him) and no chain problems. If you change de oil at 7k miles and listen to the engine at cold starts it should give you signs if it must be changed. N47 is a good engine if you change the oil often.
I love my E91. An LCI 325D but with the M57. Only an SE but it drives so nicely. Enough power and torque to daily drive. Keeps up perfectly well with traffic. But as you say even on an SE the chassis is so good it can really handle its size and weight perfectly
Great video! I’ve never commented on any Autoalex video before, but I got 5 minutes into this one and felt the need to say just how much I’m enjoying it! The comedy, the knowledge, the delivery, just the general top notch presenting makes it’s soo easy and enjoyable to watch. And praise definitely needs to go to the videographer and editing team also. The way this video has been put together is really professional and again, just really enjoyable to watch! Keep it up Taylor! 👌🏼

As much as I do enjoy the other content you all put out, I also enjoy the odd car review like this. While I am not much of a petrol head, I like seeing and hearing about that world and what you guys think of cars like this. Great video, keep 'em coming!
Lovely alpina , love a E90 , sadly my E90 sport is currently dead on my drive due to dead injectors and at only 95k ! Shame really not worth doing due to bmw parts costs.
Prior to the 'Lux' pack - to individually spec a D3, Sytner charged a £2,000.00 premium in addition to the extras to add what you wanted. It's why a lot of the D3/D3 Bi-Turbo's have a fairly basic spec - things like air con and not climate control and half leather interiors not full ones and no sat nav which isn't an issue now but the E90 screens can have CarPlay retrofitted so..... Given the cars were circa £30k as they were a £2k premium plus the VAT would have put a lot of would be Alpina owners off purchasing them and simply going for a 325D or 330D. Still this was an epic car, the engine then ended up in a 123d. Top motor too...
Having owned my E90 323i auto for about the past 8 yrs, albeit that it is petrol, not diesel and us an auto rather than a manual, I have to agree these beemers are great daily drivers and do have an excellent chassis. As someone who had only previously owned Fiats and Alfas, owning my BMW has been overall a good experience. I love the quality of the car and the way it drives. I know everyone goes on about how good the E46 series was and it is, but the E90/92 series carried on and made numerous improvements to the 3 series, and what’s not like about that. So, good choice Taylor and nice to see this 3 series getting some recognition. 👍
If Alpinas are that rare then i minght buy one. Someone near me sells a tuned manual Alpina D10 witch he claims dynod over 500hp for 13k. Maybe its a great purchase.
Taylor or Alex, please come and buy my manual e92 330d! For the very reason that it's on 315k miles with full service history and it's perfect for a mini project. Its been remapped to around 275hp and 400,000nm of torque, somehow exceeding your lovely Alpine, Taylor. I barely drive it and it sits on a street most of its life. I want to move it on as it really isn't at the end of its life but I have very little free time to use it. All I've had so far are silly offers from people who don't understand the mileage capabilities of the M57 lump that lies within. 335d braking setup on it. Hpi clear. Never been stupidly modified and low owners. MOT until April. Minimal rust although rear subframe wants some love in the next year or two. Rear suspension clunky, basically it wants a rear suspension refresh. Listed at 2k. Please do something with it!! P.s Can't quite believe I've actually wrote this

Reminds me of my first car, a Volvo V40 2.0 Turbo from 2002, lovely thing, (completely battered, shouldn't have bought it in hindsight but whatever) and it was just a comfortable spacious but not big cruiser with a lot of torque and a brilliant torquecurve which meant it was just lovely to drive around in because it was always effortless. Now this is ofcourse quite a step above something like my old Volvo, that car handled like a boat and the interior was quite worn, although still incredibly comfortable. And it is very interesting! I love it Taylor, you've treated yourself nicely and rightly so.
170 miles a day?? Get an apartment or small home in that neck of the woods. You are blowing tons in gas and wear and tear on the cars. Time is money as well!!
I owned one of these for a few months. Probably the most comfortable car I sat in. That blend of firm but comfortable suspension is unrivalled. Parts (like suspension/tyres) are expensive, but if looked after they are a brilliant allrounder.
Yeah I've tuned a few N47's before, downpipe, intercooler upgrade and a remap and becomes an absolute beast, just gotta make sure that timing chain and guides are done before doing anything on them
50mpg ain't bad. I average that around town in my R Line Scirocco diesel. Just gone from Stoke to Blsckpool on 80mpg. Boot it and it make you smile. I wasn't a diesel fan before but now I get it. Manual 6 speed , loads of torque, it's just fun when you want it. Stage 1 map on mine to. So worth getting done
I've had the e81 123d wich has the same engine (alpina took it from bmw or the other way around) Mine was remapped as well. Cracking little car and like you said great power and great econemy sold it with 311.000km on the clock, did the timingchain at about 180k out of precausion, other than that no issues. I've bought a newer f20 125d last year, remapped as well (273hp 556nm) having a blast with it. The 123d and 125d's are the hot hatches for the highmiler. shame they don't do the 125d in the newest 1 series.
Taylor, you are the best! Your presentation skills are top notch. A year ago I almost bought a D3 manual as well. At the end I went for an E60 530i N52 manual. Still love the D3s tho. Enjoy yours!
I had a 2012 X3 20d xDrive in the past and recognize a lot of that interior. Really solid. Sold it at around 340.000 km because some things started to go (timing belt or chain, pumps, ...)
I was seriously considering a D3 Biturbo of this era 18 months ago but the missus wouldn't let me get anything older than the car we already had (13 plate fabia montecarlo). So I ended up getting a poverty spec 17 plate petrol Giulia instead. Despite the plethora of electrical gremlins I'm still loving it :)
Be interesting to see how the 2.0 biturbo gets on. Had a 123d with the 4pot biturbo and it was noticably worse on fuel than my old 330d in all areas. Didn't keep it very long. Went back to a newer 330d which was actually better on fuel than the old 330d and sounds so much better than the 4pot.
@@godzillas6301 the 123d seamed to sit at high 30's long term average all types of driving. My f30 330d would usually sit low 40's long term. I could just get to 50mpg out the 123 on trips to the Alps. The f30 would return 55ish over the 2000 mile trip. The 123d seamed to rev more than the 6pot. Was over 2k rpm at 70. The 330d was well under 2k. Guess that doesn't help.
As always Taylor you are amazing in front of the camera. My daughter addors you and everytime she see that its you presenting the new video she must see it many times. Great work and hello from us from Slovenia 🇸🇮
i had a e90 individual. although the interior was box standard. outside was M kitted. the big party piece in that one was that the engine was completely hand crafted with a touch of Carbon Fibre cover
I drive a alpina 2010 biturbo everyday, lovely car and great fun, economical and fast, love the spec of your car, the leather is stunning, make sure the oil is changed regularly and serviced on time, you never mentioned the brakes on your car? I think the handling, braking better than any standard Bmw
It seems like you got an absolute peach here, not only is it a STUNNING piece of driving pleasure but it’s actually got some spec which seems to be unusual on Alpina models especially from this era! Chuffed to bits for you, Taylor.
I own the earlier model, a 2007 Alpina D3 MT. It's only done 75k from new and has two previous owners. I would recommend using owners clubs for any information on these cars as BMW dealers haven't a clue. The Bi Turbo is a great car but check the timing chain as that is their weak point. Enjoy your car it's a beauty.
Think I remember you Adam. Is your D3 grey?! We had near identical mileage/condition cars, although looks like you've clocked more miles than me (maybe as am a remote worker + Don't go anywhere as cannot be ar*ed due to congested roads).
I totally agree with Taylor regarding a manual gearbox. Unfortunately due to my disability, I can't drive a manual anymore and now have auto's. The way I always looked at it was, you drive a manual but, you just steer an automatic. God! how I miss driving a manual. To me the feeling when driving a manual goes from the stick right up to your heart and I really do miss that. 😢
I really like the alpinas now that I understand them a bit better now and the fact it's a remapped diesel. I like it. I've been in two remapped diesels as a passenger and found both to be great. And I agree with the manual bit it's annoying in stop-start traffic, but I'd say it's a price well worth paying. I also like that you've come from suvs back to a saloon, too. I doubt it's going anywhere soon, but I hope it stays.
I've never been a fan of the D3, always thought Alpinas should be petrol powered and put performance and equipment over everything else... BUT, you make a bunch of valid points and it sounds like the perfect car for your needs. So, I guess I stand corrected.
Another thing as well as the timing chain, check your high pressure fuel pump!!!!! Theyre a ticking time bomb on the n47, and one that my own d3 biturbo fell victim to!!!
Missing my old E90 320d M sport watching this, the chassis was great and despite not being fast the M47 never let me down and performance was adequate with a map.
Have a regular 2011 e90 bought it 8 years ago even though people talked bad about it. Immediatelly had the timing chain done and maintain it regularly - an absolute beast of a car, still have it. Absolutely no faults. Daily driver, great for long family trip, two kids and the wife. Love it to death
Nice car 😎, although shame about it being a 4 cyl, I thought Aplina's only used the top spec engine in cars they built, I thought wrong! lol I guess the engine is (near enough) the same as they use in the 123d? (twin turbo 4 cyl). Agreed about a manual, I own a 2010 330d manual (which is pretty rare in itself), a bit of a pain in stop-start traffic (especially as I get older!), but usually I just hang back a little so I can roll on tickover (saves fuel and clutch wear that way too). Another bonus of the manual (for these and earlier cars at least) is the better MPG they get over the auto, in the region of 10% IIRC (for the f series 320d, the auto's improved, and the manual's are only about 4-5% better). Anyway, my 330d (remapped, dyno'd at 323hp, but I had it dialled back a little as it was a bit smokey) feels pretty explosive off the line in 1st gear!😁, it even >feels< faster than my e92 M3 in >1st
Well, amaxingly enough (amazingly) you held my concentration for the whole length of the vid. Interesting factual and nicely edited with no fluffin' and flaffin' about like ! Thanks
I had the 1 series equivalent which was only a 123d but same motor in a lighter and smaller chassis absolutely loved it If we had the alpina D3 Bi turbo in Aus I wouldve definitely scooped one up congrats.
I’m with you Taylor, love manual cars, you have more control over the acceleration and speed, especially when cornering 👌🏻 Nice 3 series 😆. Don’t you find that the ride is too hard for a daily driver? With those run flat low profile tyres?

Yeah I've tuned a few N47's before, downpipe, intercooler upgrade and a remap and becomes an absolute beast, just gotta make sure that timing chain and guides are done before doing anything on them
Does Taylor remind you of Grandad from Only Fools & Awses? 🐴 his voice is a dead ringer
😂 is it only me who hears it?
No? 😂
Nice to see instead of 30k Porsches no one can afford or cares about
Clearly someone can afford it
😂 daaamn, someone's hurt🤣
You must be kidding right? A clean Alpina D3 will be at least, if not more, than 30K
@@mikkeldisch7374 sub 10k I imagine , won't be anywhere near 30
You* cant afford. 😂
I've had the e81 123d wich has the same engine (alpina took it from bmw or the other way around)
Mine was remapped as well.
Loved this vlog, T. I didn't have a clue about Alpina cars. Thanks for the learnings. Another cracking session with our main man, T.
Taylor is actually great to watch, keep up the good work mate
Be interesting to see how the 2.0 biturbo gets on. Had a 123d with the 4pot biturbo and it was noticably worse on fuel than my old 330d in all areas. Didn't keep it very long. Went back to a newer 330d which was actually better on fuel than the old 330d and sounds so much better than the 4pot.
go on .... what were you getting to the gallon ?
@@godzillas6301 the 123d seamed to sit at high 30's long term average all types of driving. My f30 330d would usually sit low 40's long term. I could just get to 50mpg out the 123 on trips to the Alps. The f30 would return 55ish over the 2000 mile trip. The 123d seamed to rev more than the 6pot. Was over 2k rpm at 70. The 330d was well under 2k. Guess that doesn't help.
@@horswell5 Nice one , thank you
As always Taylor you are amazing in front of the camera.
Roughly how much is it to get a timing chain done?
Think I remember you Adam. Is your D3 grey?! We had near identical mileage/condition cars, although looks like you've clocked more miles than me (maybe as am a remote worker + Don't go anywhere as cannot be ar*ed due to congested roads).
@@paulmason5152 Hi Paul yes it is. It's number 547 (December 2007). It's been retired to the garage now and only used on nice days 👍
@@ap6584 It's over a grand I would say as its an engine out job on thr Bi Turbo
@@adambrowning9215 wow ok, big job!
Thanks for shedding a bit of light on the Alpina; looks like a great daily.
Taylor is in his element doing these vids - you love to see it
Another thing as well as the timing chain, check your high pressure fuel pump!!!!! Theyre a ticking time bomb on the n47, and one that my own d3 biturbo fell victim to!!!
had the same thoughts, bought an E92 335d a few years ago. brilliant car. no regrets. biturbo diesels are no joke.
I like the Taylor videos :) especially the ones where he works on them
Keep them up
These videos are a so useful. Hearing people talk about BMWs really cures my insomnia.
Missing my old E90 320d M sport watching this, the chassis was great and despite not being fast the M47 never let me down and performance was adequate with a map.
My two daily’s currently are a Fabia VRS Mk1 tuned by Oettinger and a 957 3.0 tdi Cayenne!
Lovely Alpina Taylor❤
I've had an E90 330d and they're great cars, classy, tough and easy to live with.
Only had to sell due to a growing family size.
Thats a car enthusiast with some good taste I could tell you that much.. love the wheels too!
I've never really looked twice at Alpina cars until Taylor joined the Auto Alex family ! Thanks Taylor, now I need to get my hands on one now!!
Nice car 😎, although shame about it being a 4 cyl, I thought Aplina's only used the top spec engine in cars they built, I thought wrong! lol
I guess the engine is (near enough) the same as they use in the 123d?
I really am loving this new AutoTaylor channel. What a mint car as well
Do you know if an N47T would have the same timing chain issues?
Well, amaxingly enough (amazingly) you held my concentration for the whole length of the vid. Interesting factual and nicely edited with no fluffin' and flaffin' about like ! Thanks
I had the 1 series equivalent which was only a 123d but same motor in a lighter and smaller chassis absolutely loved it
If we had the alpina D3 Bi turbo in Aus I wouldve definitely scooped one up congrats.
Love these videos! Go Taylor&Rory!
Taylor should start his own channel at this point, honestly
Definitely loving these videos.
Isn't the gearing in those cars a bit... too short? Or am I thinking of the 123d that has the same engine?
I’m with you Taylor, love manual cars, you have more control over the acceleration and speed, especially when cornering 👌🏻
Nice 3 series 😆. Don’t you find that the ride is too hard for a daily driver? With those run flat low profile tyres?
Taylor, you’re a natural tv presenter. I hear The One Show have a job opportunity, you should give them a call. Great video Taylor and Rory. Class car.
