  • 1978 Ford L9000 10 wheeler grain hauler w/detroit hauling a couple loads of corn. Luckily they didn't test the corn for sound damage or I probably would have suffered a pretty hefty dock.

    Nah, the concerto the 6 pistons were playing merely softened the corn up so as to be easier to eat. They should be paying you extra.

      @@beavercommander They reject your corn hault it to my coutry (Brasil) , we buy the corn and love good sounding engines, but the detroits never entered the fame ranks of a good engine here because the diesel poor quality sold here who help Mercedes Benz, but some people who not repowered they trucks still are working on small farms...

      @@daviweiss4360 I like to stay in Arkansas pretty close to the farm with my trucks so the D.O.T. (commercial truck police) don't get mad at me. But if I'm ever in Brasil I'll take you for a ride! There aren't many detroits left around here either. Thanks for watching.

      @@tacticalidiot175 Detroit Diesel currently is not GM. Actually right now owned by Freightliner which is Chrysler/ Fiat. The Original Detroit Diesel was 100% GM. The particular engine in the video is GM.

    Also known as a "Double Breasted Yamaha"', well it would be if it was an 8-V. A 6-71 or 6-92 is or was known as a "Hot Water 6". They are TOUGH ENGINES, but they are NOT DRIVER FRIENDLY. BB

      Thanks man. It's pretty rough but sure is fun to drive! She's been down for about two years after some crackheads doing 70+mph tried to pass me while I was turning left. Idiot in the early 90s swb Chevy never let off the gas until his pelvis broke when he hit my front tire... Last week I finally got around to rolling a new front end under it and replaced the steering box and she's better than ever. Hopefully be toting some corn out of the field in the next week or so.       Sweet! I bought a 79 ford parts truck for the front end that had an 8v71 and a 10 speed. It was a powerhouse what little I drove it before I stripped it down. Be sure to make a video and link it here when you get it!

    Good engine the 6V92TA 350 hp and 6.5 mpg. Compact and reliable and only 860kg. A 🐈 Cat or Cummins weighs about 400 pounds more than that.

      And you can get a lot more power from a 3406Cat...I have a 600horse Cat 3406E under the hood of my T-800 Kenworth not that the Detroit is a bad motor...I prefer the 60 series myself

      Arkansas, USA. This one is a 1978 model. Ford made some pretty neat old trucks. What kind of power did yours have?

      I have an international day cab with a Cummins L-10 and I'd say it's right on par with it. The Detroit could probably edge it out if it had a good tuneup.

      I made this account probably 15 years ago before the tv show came out. They were just making hunting movies and duck calls back then. I was killing beavers for the $15 bounty at the time and thought it would be funny.

      Sure does. The truck doesn't have a boost gauge so I don't know how much pressure it makes.
