A single screw from Giant Foods, then it was a bread truck. It pulled a bread trailer to the stores. Nice find, I would love to see it restored to a Giant Foods truck. The drivers of the year used to get their truck chromed out, back when the company was privately owned. Enjoy it. Want to sell it? lol
@@fireman7415I have a couple models of the Louisville and want to make them something like this. Interesting it came with a Detroit since it's GM. I guess you could order it anyway you want unless it was a glider.
That is a nice rig and good commentary. Looks like fun, reminds me of the department store delivery trucks my neighbor drove when I was a kid. Sweet sound and smell!
The company i worked for in the1970s & 80s had a number of those LN series but they either had 534 gas engines or 3208 Cats. Then they bought some CL 9000's which had the 6V-92 Detroits. Great trucks, good memories but the LNs were very hard steering.
@@jeffearnest3269 Yes they were. A couple of those trucks (we had about eight with the 3208) worked like 17-18 hours a day, first a peddle run on the road about 200-300 miles and then run local all day. Workhorses for sure. I still miss our unit #252. It never ever let me down.
Built a toter home out of a 83 L 8000, 3208 turned up to 350hp, radiator/charge air cooler from 692 firetruck, 13 speed overdrive, 4.11 rear, fully equipped 16' lounge w/8 x 8 flat bed goose neck hitch, w/b 256". Pulled 44 x 11' high tri axle race support trailer no problem. Truck was good for 92 mph balls out, many times. Still miss that rig, it was pimped out pretty damn well.
Thanks for the great video love these old fords! My son has a RUclips channel called didthatfixit he recently put a new cab and frame in an l9000 and has been working on his grandfather’s ltl9000 if anyone wants to check it out

Nice ol ford! Hope you have a lot of fun with it.
What a pleasant young man !! I love hearing his story.
He really is a respectful, responsible young man and I'm proud to call him a friend
Nice rig, thanks for sharing it. I find the lesser known ones more interesting than another Pete or something.
Absolutely. I like the stuff with less chrome and lights. The plain company truck is cool to me

Sweet truck man! I really want one of those old ford l9000's, especially one with a Detroit, but id take a dt466 too! Maybe someday....👍🏻👌🏻🚜
There's still some out there. You never know. Good luck.
I've been looking for a deal like that but I haven't found one yet
Donald got that truck off of a friend of mine. He has a bunch of old Fords and Astros for sale and a couple other trucks.
LewKing gewd my friend!
My favorite cab, great outward vision. The GMC Astro 95 is another one. If it's got a good running stroker, I'm in.

It is not a single axle. It is a two axle.
It has a single drive axle though.
@@fireman7415 thank you
