Khabib isn't short and stout like Mendes or tall and lanky like Diaz, so Conor couldn't exploit the advantages on the inside or the outside, and he had to be conscious of take downs. Although Khabib's striking isn't up to par with Mcregor's he has the advantage of threating a takedown, letting him land that monstrous overhand right like Tyron Woodley. I think Conor incredibly underestimated Khabib's striking and thought he could beat him at his own game.

He’s won 4 major titles in 2 of the hardest weight classes. He’s never backed out of a fight due to injury and even with a 30lb cut to featherweight he’s been a professional and never missed the mark. He’s also taken big fights with very little notice. Everything I just said there is facts. Ever since Conor came to the ufc it has helped the promotion grow into what it is today. Also every fighter on the roster is making more money then ever before. None of which was possible without him. People are so quick to judge another man. Ask ur self why your not a 2 time ufc champ. Ask yourself why ur not worth a quarter of a billion dollars. I think that in round 1 when Conor failed to spring back up from Khabib close range wrestling hold on the ground. Conor had no gurantee it would work and if it did not he would be repeatedly wasting large amounts of energy way to early. On on semi-related matter when Conor also lost to nate diaz due to over aggressive midrange offense as opposed to as he did in his rematch counter attacks and low kicks
I can definitely tell you this if they do rematch and Conor loses again, he will be the next Ronda rowsey

Good points but you need to pay attention to Khabib preparation for example watch how Khabib baits Conor in for the left hand. He had Conors left hand times perfectly to the T the only head strike Conor landed was the switch to the right hand uppercut. Towards the end of the 3rd he broke mentally because his tools were hindered.
He never tried to wrestle with Khabib he simply couldnt negate the takedown and grappling exchanges he wasnt trying to wrestle back and he didnt stand up because he couldn't,
The 2 big points in the fight were (1) Conor got caught in two minds - thinking Kabib was going for a takedown - allowing Kabib to hit him on the feet (2) Conor's only chance in this fight was his movement and speed on the feet - but it seems like Conor has slowed down and is now past his prime. Conor's speed is the reason for his supreme confidence, and the reason he could break all the rules and transcend the usual MMA rule that wrestlers dominate. But it appears as though Conor is slowing down. If so, I doubt that Conor will fight much longer, because he has a very risky style that relies on speed and movement. Conor was a fire-cracker, and he may have now fizzled out. It was fun while it lasted.

I agree with your points. Conor definitely lacks discipline. I think he had it in his early UFC days. He was doing lots of running and much more training. Now he just seems to drink which everyone knows is a cardio killer. He was drinking whiskey two days before this fight on the Conan show. You just can't do that against khabib. I noticed also that Conor seemed very slow and robotic in the fight. Khabib dropped him with the eagle punch and made Conor look sloppy. I don't know, maybe Conor just isn't that good or as hard of a hitter.

Your wrong about this you need to rewind and watch the fight. The punch didn't change anything. Go back check the first khabibs first shoot to the legs after 30 seconds. Then keep watching as khabib has him at the cage. Conor looks and looks around and he is actually shocked by khabibs strength he cannot believe that khabib has so much strength. He is actually so tired Inthe first round that In the second round he looks so shattered. Him throwing punches in the third round was adrelanin and him knowing he has lost the first two rounds. Khabib engaged in a striking duel with Conor and that wasn't crazy. It wasn't crazy for Conor to try but it obviously didn't work.
He lost because he was rusty. His downfall was getting taken down in the first rd. That took some of his energy.His timing was off. No footwork. No headmovent. He didn't throw enough strikes. He didn't gage his distance well. Everything about him was off that night. He was not the same. He missed so many punches. He was jus off. He came as prepared as he could be after a 2yr layoff. A rematch will be interesting.
Great take. This was not Conor at his best he was very flat footed he reminded me of Darren Till style only looking for that big shot. I don’t think Conor had an attacking game plan but was just to defend takedowns and hopefully get the best of Khabib standing up. My favorite point you made which is definitely overlooked is Conor’s lack of discipline. Even during the fight they told him to stop chasing Khabib and trying to walk him down. He didn’t listen and suffered the consequences. I believe Conor was overconfident (once again) and didn’t take the time to truly find holes in Khabib’s game. I think Conor can do much better in a rematch...once he earns it by beating another contender.

The only reason McBlueLips/McQuiter didn't get concussed is that he cheated by holding onto Khabibs gloves throughout the grappling engagement. The holding of the gloves kept Khabibs fist from rearranging McPussy's face.

Conor seems to be headed down the well beaten path of letting all the stardom get to his head, and detract from actually being a good fighter. Once all the fame and other time commitments come like other businesses (whiskey, for one), you have less time to train and focus. He's lost what got him to where he is and he's about one more loss away from losing his star power and being just another fighter. There's so many hungry, talented fighters in line that could beat him. Any of the top 5 guys would probably be at least a 50/50 match so conor is not as far ahead of the pack as he once was. Has to be a terrible feeling for him.

The main reason why he lost the fight was because he lacks conditioning!! He's never taken it seriously because he tries to finish fights in 1-2 rounds. Once you gas, logic and all your MMA training goes out the window, FACT! If Connor could make sure he lasts 6 rounds at constant pressure (I bet Khabib can), then he has the ability to think straight and strategise how to dismantle Diaz or Khabib. As long as he relies on his knock out and doesn't make it up with conditioning, every fighter going forward just needs to wait until he gases out. Then move in for the kill.
Lastly I don't think Connor has EVER had a mauling like this in his career. As a multi-millionaire, he won't want to fight Khabib. As the audio says "its only business" he doesn't have the attitude for fighting anymore. He'll do fights with other stand up fighters, where he has a chance.
