They are real people, but probably don't engage very much , because they were more into design and art. Do you think these are worthless now ? Do you think they need to be deleted?

Before removing them, I'd try a few things to see if you can really obviously let them know that the account niche has changed and give them the opportunity to unfollow, or hopefully stick around. You could do Stories (talking to the cam would be great), or perhaps Reels or carousel posts in-feed letting folks know what the changes are. After a few weeks to a month, I'd then start slowly removing folks that you know for sure aren't interested. It might be tough to gauge, but if you have an idea then it'll be best for the account long term. Good luck! - C

Wow that sucks, I'm really sorry to hear that. You can still be action blocked (not shadow banned) if you do more than 60 actions per hour, so it'll be a slow grind to remove them one by one. Extremely annoying, I know, but you put your account at risk if you use a third-party service. - C
@@zaviercadorin6244 Correct. That's the low end of the number we know doesn't get you action blocked. You can test removing more, IG never released the actual number of actions before being blocked, but we know it's between 60-100 so up to you how far you want to push it. - C
The reach on my account it slow low on an IG account because I am trying to use a 7 yr old account to now be a content creator. I used your service and I have about 6k ghost followers on a 20K account and almost no reach. Is my page just trash and should I start over? If you're willing to take the time to remove the ghost followers, it could be worth a try. The work won't stop there, you'll still need to do daily engagement, post consistently, use all the features etc and hopefully things will kick back in, I can't promise, though. Completely up to you, as there's never a guarantee which will it will go. - C

That's a lot of fake followers. I wouldn't suggest to use a third party app as that will affect her account. The only solution we have is to manually do it slowly, over time. Or start a fresh account. - C
Idk if anyone experienced this but INSTAGRAM removes my ghost followers and my following rates are dropping like crazy. Hi, oooh that's a shame, but yes you can remove them all manually and then if you post consistently and do all the things you should be doing, it should revive your reach for sure -
That's a tough one! This technique is better for a smaller amount, but the catch 22 here is that Instagram may block/shutdown/penalize you if you connect a third party app to your account to do it for you. If it was me, I'd just plug away slowly each day and remove the fake followers, it might take a while but at least you won't be putting the account at risk. - C
From my understanding, it's possible to bring it back. Best bet would be to use this method in this video to completely remove all fake followers, and then apply our other strategies (posting regularly, use our 3 tag approach, high quality content, daily engagement etc). There should be no reason you can't turn it around. - C

Hi, you're welcome! So I'd suggest not to waste the 11k audience you worked so hard to build. You could keep this account in your native language, and start a fresh account in English (even reusing all the same content but with English captions). Very informative video. I did some spring cleaning on my account, a lot of bot accounts had to be removed along with regular IG users who never really engaged in my content; most would only watch the stories but never liked, shared or commented. Definitely gets annoying because there ain’t a purpose following people if you’re basically gonna ignore them. Now would it be a bad thing if I wrote on my bio that genuine followers get a follow back and a shoutout? Also, I want to reduce the amount of ghost likers coming to my page (users that like and comment my post/posts but don’t follow). What’s the best way to combat that, especially the ones that sweep my account with likes and ones who constantly return to it?
Thanks for the kind words. I wouldn't recommend putting the "follow back" in your bio, it makes you look like a spam account. There's no particular way to stop anyone liking your posts really, only thing I can think of is your hashtags might be attracting them - C

To me it’s meaningless if you get a lot of followers, but the bulk of likes come from non followers; I feel that kinda hurts the growth. I guess when you have thousands or millions of followers it doesn’t matter, but it’s hard to ignore when you have a smaller number of them. Not trying to be Insta-famous, but I’m not trying to average 11 likes per post.

Hi, unfortunately there's no way that we know of to do it automatically. If you connected any third-party software to your IG, it could result it in getting banned, a strike or removed as there are no approved software that does this for you. - C

Hi, so you shouldn't need to delete the account. It can be saved by posting high quality, engaging content regularly and consistently, doing daily organic engagement, focusing on Reels, etc. Keep going! - C
It's not really helping me a lot loI. I think I have a lot of followers who are not fake accounts but for some reason don't interact with me. Do they even see my posts? This video is definitely aimed at smaller accounts, as the larger ones might want to take an alternate, more risky route. You just need to use your best estimate as to whether the account is fake or dormant, or just doesn't engage. Thanks for watching - C

Hi Maria, I definitely wouldn't recommend that you put a business account on private. It's a matter of just attacking it day by day, removing the followers as they come in and tackling the removal of bots when you can. - C
Hi, I’m constantly getting around 300 bots following me. I always delete them and then they pop up again after a few hours exactly to the same amount I had before I deleted. They are 100% fake bots. Hey Ariel, that's really strange that they keep coming back. Did you ever buy followers perhaps, and the company just keeps pushing them back? There's not much you can do really, except to make your account private, which you may not want to do if it's for a brand. - C

I've heard that can happen to people. I'm not sure what you can do aside from reach out to Instagram Help as they may have a way to block the companies from sending you the bot accounts. - C

That's a fair point. There's nothing that Instagram currently offers to help us determine whether an account is a bot or not. It's probably best to be safe and not remove ones you're not sure about, but there should be a way to tell whether an account is fake in your vertical. - C

Hi, you don't need to remove people who don't like your posts necessarily (this is more focused on accounts that are fake/bots), however if you have accounts that you know for sure don't engage with you ever, you could get some value by removing them. - C

There's not much any of us can do about the spam accounts. I've been seeing them on my personal and client accounts more than ever lately, all I do is remove them as a follower immediately. It's annoying, I truly empathize, we just haven't found any other solution than just removing them as they come. - C
Great question! Usually the limit is somewhere between 60-100 actions per hour (not per day), so I'd suggest to stick to 50-60 actions (unfollows) each hour and do it slowly so you're not action blocked. - C
I went from 4400 followers to over 10k in ONE DAY! I'm not going to go through over 6k ghost followers one at a time to evaluate and remove them ... is there no other method to identify and remove ghost followers!!??
Amazing growth! There's currently no IG approved way to do this automatically. Using any sort of third party service would put your account at risk so it really depends how much you value your account - C
i’ve had my instagram account since 2014, I have 960 followers but only get around 100 likes so that’s why i’m here. Also can anybody tell me why I can’t see likes anymore?!?
Removing those ghost followers will help a ton. Almost no accounts can see likes now, Instagram removed that a year or so back. Sometimes, some accounts can still see them but it's rare. They were trying to remove the emphasis on vanity metrics to help mental health and to stop people from liking posts just because they're already popular. - C
Inactive followers don't hurt your reach they only aeffect your engagement percentage (engagement/followers) which is completely a vanity metric. Removing followers to make this equation look better does nothing for you. There are 0 reasons you should remove a follower outside of harassment because most of the bot accounts you will remove are real people using an account with no profile picture or posts which is completely normal.
That's what I am thinking too. Isn't Instagram just checking the engagement based on how many have SEEN your post to the ones that engaged with it? Why would Instagram do it on a follower count level when the data for SEEN Vs interaction is way more reliable. Is there 'proof' that an 10.000 account performs better when removed 2.000 inactive ones, that wouldn't have seen the post anyway and hence would not deminish your view to like engagement. (It number you see in insights. "People reached")
That's part of the challenge - guessing whether the private account is a ghost/fake follower or just someone private. You'd have to use your best judgement on those ones. - C
Wow, that's a wild claim. Instagram gave us the option, it's built into the app, therefore that tells us that it's completely fine. They have explicitly said they don't like third party apps, however. - C

We don't, there's no way that we're aware of to mass remove ghost followers without putting your account at risk. It's a manual process that just takes time. - C
Wow, that's quite the predicament. You could slowly remove the fake followers over time while continuing to post regularly and do daily engagement to slowly but surely get things back in order. It won't be fast, though, but it may be worth it. - C

Hi Avi! Unfortunately we haven't, Instagram has said that they don't want us using third party apps so to use anything would put your account at risk. The manual process is annoying, but I doubt that there would even be a software available that could determine whether an account is real or fake/ghost - it feels like something a human has to do. Try to do it per letter, it’s much easier to follow tracks of your removal. I Have a list in my notes with all letters and I put a ✔️ when I’m done with the letter. It’s motivating haha

Hey Nader, usually it's between 60-100 actions per hour (they never confirmed the exact number but we've heard both). So if you keep it under those limits, you can do it once an hour and you won't get action blocked. - C
By using the methods in the video! Determining who those people are is a different story, it'd be educated guesses for the most part. You'd have to see who is regularly engaging and who isn't, and remove those who aren't. - C

Wow that's super odd, there might be someone targeting your account as that's highly unusual. Maybe get rid of them then go private for 24 hours and see if any more come in. That might deter them. - C

As I only have 1650 followers ...I'll wait until I grow a little more. It was a dead 2 year old account that I recently returned too. Grew it from 700... sooo have 700 dead weights 😩😅 likes hit around 140 a post on average. Could be worse... but my reach is becoming low. It makes me want to start from scratch. Ohh I can relate!! I have a 1560 followers art acc. It is about 1 year old. I grew using the follow - unfollow method for a bit. But then I stopped since it didn't make sense too me. I get around 170 likes or 200 in a good post. Which is only 10% of my followers. I want to clean up but I am afraid I ended up with no followers and deleting people is not easy. Also I would love to know if it actually helps?
At that level of followers, you're right, you can't do anything about it. All accounts with a large following have a certain % of bots following them. All our content is aimed at folks who are earlier in their growth journey. - C
Good tips for removing them - but how do we prevent the spam followers in the first place? The bots need to key in on an aspect of your account that triggers the follow, but my account has been scrubbed for anything I can imagine that would attract bot follows from around the world, and they still come in. Hey Anthony, thanks for the kind words. Great question - typically they used to come from spammy hashtags (#followforfollow, #shareforshare etc), but sometimes they seem to randomly attack accounts. I've never heard of any particular reason why, it literally could just be random, we've had comments from folks before in similar situations and there didn't seem to be any correlation. Great question! Tough to know for sure. You'd have to make your best guess based on the profile photo and bio. Fake accounts are almost always immediately obvious. - C
Real or fake really doesn't matter. All that matters is those followers are not engaging with your post and they will never like any. They are stoping your outreach and harming your engagement if you are an influencer then it is a great headache.
Better to start from a position of strength with 125 followers who actually care vs another 175 fake accounts who just ruin your engagement! Great work - C
Bruh what is this, has Instagram become a full time job? I'm supposed to scroll through 2000 followers and decide which one is fake and which one is real? And manually still remove them? That's a lot of fake followers. I wouldn't suggest to use a third party app as that will affect her account. The only solution we have is to manually do it slowly, over time. Or start a fresh account. - C

That's a tough one! This technique is better for a smaller amount, but the catch 22 here is that Instagram may block/shutdown/penalize you if you connect a third party app to your account to do it for you. If it was me, I'd just plug away slowly each day and remove the fake followers, it might take a while but at least you won't be putting the account at risk. - C

From my understanding, it's possible to bring it back. Best bet would be to use this method in this video to completely remove all fake followers, and then apply our other strategies (posting regularly, use our 3 tag approach, high quality content, daily engagement etc). There should be no reason you can't turn it around. - C

You could keep this account in your native language, and start a fresh account in English (even reusing all the same content but with English captions). Very informative video. I did some spring cleaning on my account, a lot of bot accounts had to be removed along with regular IG users who never really engaged in my content; most would only watch the stories but never liked, shared or commented. Definitely gets annoying because there ain’t a purpose following people if you’re basically gonna ignore them.

Thanks for the kind words. I wouldn't recommend putting the "follow back" in your bio, it makes you look like a spam account. There's no particular way to stop anyone liking your posts really, only thing I can think of is your hashtags might be attracting them - C

Hi, unfortunately there's no way that we know of to do it automatically. If you connected any third-party software to your IG, it could result it in getting banned, a strike or removed as there are no approved software that does this for you. - C

That's a fair point. There's nothing that Instagram currently offers to help us determine whether an account is a bot or not. It's probably best to be safe and not remove ones you're not sure about, but there should be a way to tell whether an account is fake in your vertical. - C

There's not much any of us can do about the spam accounts. I've been seeing them on my personal and client accounts more than ever lately, all I do is remove them as a follower immediately. Great question! Usually the limit is somewhere between 60-100 actions per hour (not per day), so I'd suggest to stick to 50-60 actions (unfollows) each hour and do it slowly so you're not action blocked. - C

Removing those ghost followers will help a ton. Almost no accounts can see likes now, Instagram removed that a year or so back. Sometimes, some accounts can still see them but it's rare. They were trying to remove the emphasis on vanity metrics to help mental health and to stop people from liking posts just because they're already popular. - C
Inactive followers don't hurt your reach they only aeffect your engagement percentage (engagement/followers) which is completely a vanity metric. Removing followers to make this equation look better does nothing for you. There are 0 reasons you should remove a follower outside of harassment because most of the bot accounts you will remove are real people using an account with no profile picture or posts which is completely normal.

Hi Avi! Unfortunately we haven't, Instagram has said that they don't want us using third party apps so to use anything would put your account at risk. The manual process is annoying, but I doubt that there would even be a software available that could determine whether an account is real or fake/ghost - it feels like something a human has to do. As I only have 1650 followers ...I'll wait until I grow a little more. It was a dead 2 year old account that I recently returned too. Grew it from 700... sooo have 700 dead weights 😩😅 likes hit around 140 a post on average. Could be worse... but my reach is becoming low. It makes me want to start from scratch. Ohh I can relate!! I have a 1560 followers art acc. It is about 1 year old. I grew using the follow - unfollow method for a bit. But then I stopped since it didn't make sense too me. I get around 170 likes or 200 in a good post. Which is only 10% of my followers. I want to clean up but I am afraid I ended up with no followers and deleting people is not easy. At that level of followers, you're right, you can't do anything about it. All accounts with a large following have a certain % of bots following them. All our content is aimed at folks who are earlier in their growth journey. - C
Good tips for removing them - but how do we prevent the spam followers in the first place? The bots need to key in on an aspect of your account that triggers the follow, but my account has been scrubbed for anything I can imagine that would attract bot follows from around the world, and they still come in. Hey Anthony, thanks for the kind words. Great question - typically they used to come from spammy hashtags (#followforfollow, #shareforshare etc), but sometimes they seem to randomly attack accounts. I've never heard of any particular reason why, it literally could just be random, we've had comments from folks before in similar situations and there didn't seem to be any correlation. Great question! Tough to know for sure. You'd have to make your best guess based on the profile photo and bio. Fake accounts are almost always immediately obvious. - C
Real or fake really doesn't matter. All that matters is those followers are not engaging with your post and they will never like any. They are stoping your outreach and harming your engagement if you are an influencer then it is a great headache.

How do you remove without getting blocked
If you stick to about 60 actions per hour, you won't set off the action block. It's a slow grind of a process but it's guaranteed to work with no issues for your account. Thanks for watching! - C

There's no way to do it in bulk, unfortunately. This is a super manual method. Instagram has explicitly said they don't want third party apps to be connected to do this, you'd be putting your account at risk. - C

Missed the part where you showed how to bulk remove ghost followers.
There's no way that we're aware of that you can bulk remove Instagram ghost followers without putting your account at risk, hence this video being focused on manually removing followers. You can risk connecting a third-party app to your account to mass remove followers, but Instagram may strike your account for doing that, so that's up to you. Thanks for watching. - C

It allows you to gain followers in the short term but you lose serious engagement, and those followers don't stick around over time. - C

@@tlotlomangope7778 We call it "proactive daily engagement", where you spend time every hour going through followers of influencesr/brands/competitors or hashtags and engage with people (like, comment but don't follow) who are likely to follow you.
