What I love about the Patient Zero situation is for the first time something interesting happens DURING the game.

So, basically after the collapse SIVA went asleep, and Warlords and Iron Lords began to rise with their ghosts. Then Timur starts tracking where SIVA is and once they find it Felwinter tries to call Rasputin. Rasputin going all "new phone who dis" and activates SIVA and all hell breaks loose, and most of the Iron Lords at the Replication Complex die. Damn, Rasputin is savage!

You have to remember. He is a Russian warmind, so their would be more swearing. “Who the f(static) is this?!? F(static) you anonymous f(static)!” This to be fair would be at best a rough translation.
Rasputin kills every guardian who enters his bunker uninvited. (Seige of the Warmind, Prometheus Code missions & SABER strike from D1)
Vanguard, and more so Zavala, is right to distrust Rasputin. It has killed *hundreds* of Iron Lords without mercy, controls MWD's (Siva, Warsats, Valkyries) and turned the Exo's into war machines for his own purposes.

So here's a question: if the original research and data on SIVA originated on Mars, how come the Cabal never got their hands on it? Surely with the grip the Cabal has on the region, they would of come across the research labs at some point.
EpicGamerzFail I believe that since they are more like "Soldiers on the field" I would understand if that is the main reason, soldiers are not scientists, but I have my own questions too, if that is correct then why that strike on the buried city?
Not to mention, the Fallen are scavengers... They're used to kit-bashing and jury-rigging things together from tech that they don't totally understand.
Tech-01 So basically the Cabal knew about the research labs, but they just never bothered to mess with the tech? Well, they missed out big time (good for us; I don't want to imagine a siva-fied cabal shield).
EpicGamerzFail Well during the mission download completed you can see that there were dead fallen in the lab along with cabal troops, they had no idea what was on those computers and just like, the cabal were trying to defend "their territory" ( that sh1t is ours >:c ) they don't care about our technology not like the fallen!
I think there's also a problem story wise with the existence of the psions. I don't see why they wouldn't have picked up on this. Only reason I can think of is that they're deployed in specific locations by the cabal forces, so they might not have had a chance to reach the labs and dig further just yet.
Holy crap, I never realized the hunter/warloack/titan raid gear's descriptions could be combined into a conversation. That's sick.
Something that still confuses me. Rasputin interfered when the Iron Lords tried to get a hold of SIVA, and as we know he refers to Guardians as THEM. Yet he did not step in when we go to shut it down. Maybe Timur had a hidden agenda that Rasputin knew of? or maybe, by the time we return there, Rasputin has lost control. something of note however. Lord Saladin says on out way down to the chamber that "The Vanguard still view Rasputin as a Warmind. he has not been that for a very long time..."
to what is he referring? AI Rampancy? has Rasputin evolved in a way? he was already self aware before the fall, as evident in the grimoire for him.
If Rasputin has become the equivalent of Skynet, it would make sense that it would allow the Iron Tomb to be reopened so that SIVA could spread and thus allow greater control over organic life. Maybe something that will be addressed in D2.

So, Rasputin WAS the mind of SIVA, but just LEFT it with 3 directives when the Iron Lords arrived, and SIVA went out of control.
Then Jolder buried SIVA in the Replication Chamber again.
After that, the Fallen Devils find the Replication Chamber and the events of Rise of Iron begin to unfold...

In all fairness, that is who you fight in the Iron Tomb. The reanimated Iron Lords who prevented the spread of the infection by quarantining themselves so what you suggest didn't happen...

Also: the cosmodrome shuttle ship that crashed into nessus, was carrying several large boxes of SIVA nanotechnology that got broke and is stsrting to infect parts of nessus.
Byf I still don't understand why siva became so harmful when it was released by the iron lords. Was it because it was not "complete" and became unstable/rampant? Or was it because Rasputin gave it directive to defend the complex it came from? I can't play the game, but all this new lore is fascinating.
Best dlc and raid in destiny history, vog and taken king come close but siva is just on another level
I actually started playing around the time that the virus was spreading. I had no idea what that was, lol. Too cool it was the subtle beginning to the SIVA story being introduced. This game is too cool.
I'm waiting on the lore video where Byf goes into detail about what the name of his ending music is.

I thought the connection of the mites above the heads of guardians spreading the SIVA in the lore and the mites we had over our heads coupled with the buffs they had, the week leading up to the ROI release. Pretty darn cool, thanks for explaining that.
I hope that now that Rasputins main core on Mars is awake, Rasputin can get back control over SIVA and this time help humanity with it. While the guardians are vital for human survival and the Traveler is awake and also will stand by us, without Rasputin we will have no chance against future enemys. We saw what the Cabal did and not only Savathûn has her Hive in our solar system already, those triangle ships are also on their way. Rasputin will be our biggest and most important ally in the war against the new threats and with SIVA Rasputin will be even more powerful and helpful for humanity.
Edit: after some thought I also think that maybe Rasputin knows how dangerous SIVA was and that SIVA is somehow corrected and that's why he fought back the Iron Lords. But as I know that was only a fragment of Rasputin that did that. With the main core taking control, Rasputin maybe has a chance to repair any glitches and corruptions in SIVA. But who knows

So I have a big question, if SIVA was able to bring Sepiks and Tanis's back to life? How come it brought the iron lords back to life. The game says it's using it's armor but I'm having some clear doubts about that. What exactly happened to the iron lords and SIVA that got the Lords into SIVA mutants?

There is a question that has been bugging me, and I was hoping you could address it. Before the Traveler abandoned them in the face of the darkness and found humanity, it technologically uplifted the Eliksni. They worship the traveler as a God. Do you think it would be possible for one to become a Guardian, or at the least, attain powers on the level of a Guardian through other means?

I didn't think Siva was self replicating, I can't remember reading that, it also means the replication chamber itself and it's destruction would be entirely pointless

The Exodus project is essentially sending out a bunch of colony ships, one of which was the Exodus Black.
0:56 I consider SIVA more similar to cancer than an infection. Cancer also runs rampant due to over-replication and can create growths.

Imagine a raid where we have to fight a soca controlled cayde, siva has recovered his ghost to learn. But cayde is sivas ace in the hole....
But rasputin wouldn’t do that, also we would be able to kill cayde easily.
Efrideet wasn't at the battle for the Replication Chamber, she left the Iron Lords prior.
Reference Lady Skorri's grimoire. When pondering who should be in the Iron Song and how large a part they should have, she remarks to herself that Efrideet will not be included due to her abandonment.

Byf have you considered doing more machinima based stuff in the background for these instead of running and gunning? I know you've had your video grimoire before but I think it would be cool to have your guardian exploring these places and getting some awesome cinematography. Epic panning and tilt shots revealing the facilities and the SIVA itself. I reckon it could look awesome.
If the Splicers, or in this case, the fallen were to have complete full control of SIVA, would that make them unstoppable? It was also mentioned in the Grimoire for Wrath of the Machine a Fallen coms was intercepted as a means to call out to the other Fallen houses to not be reliant on Ether and just become cyborgs/machines. Sure one wrong code in the directive being made for SIVA would be catastrophic, but would the Guardians be pushed back severely that going beyond the city would be like a death sentence if the Fallen were to fully understand how SIVA works as did the scientists at Clovis Bray?
What are the names of the music that you have chosen? Every informative.
One small thing: Lady Efrideet wasn't there when the Iron Lords went after siva she had already disappeared before that event happened.

Something that's been bothering for a long time, maybe you could help-- iron lords are the first to be touched with light, correct? As were the warlords. So then where was Rezyl Azzir? Wasn't he the original OP hero after the collapse?

Byf, I'm pretty sure that rasputins directive to Siva was replicate eliminate immunize, consume enhance replicate was the directive the splicers gave it.
I'm a bit confused about the self-replicating thing. Byf says specifically that it self-replicates, even though I understood from the campaign that it can only consume matter to build but not to multiply, as it needs to be produced in the replication chamber.
Shiro-4 mentions that the Splicers can still use the SIVA they already have after we destroy the replication chamber, but his tone implies that it should be relatively straightforward to get rid of the remaining SIVA.
That should not be the case if it can simply self-replicate anywhere it can find materials to do so. It would make it almost impossible to eradicate, similar to a virus that doesn't show symptoms in 100% of infected people.
I'm not sure they ever specifically say that it doesn't have the ability to self-replicate, but I don't recall anyone saying it can either.

There's next to nothing to work with beyond the name of the gun itself. A single grimoire card at most. And a statement from Petra when she gives you the weapon as a reward. Not much to work with, even with the datamined 347 Vesta Dynasty info (Which doesn't offer anything of significance IIRC). Like most weapons in the game, there are many questions and few answers on it...

rasputin didn't give the orders for consume, enhance replicate.
In rasputin card 4: he says and a quote "siva use authorized. self destructs disengaged. security codes reset. all defenses activated. frames activated.
Replicate, eliminate and immunize"
he did not put consume, enhance Replicate.
If only Siva adopted the behaviour of Aksis as he lost his mind with Siva. That would have made Siva more fearsome.

A question remains as to why Rasputin wasn't a Warmind for a long time and the involvement he had with SIVA and the Iron lords....
Hiroshi Perez From what I gathered, Rasputin is the Warmind of Earth and was the original leader of the other warminds across the universe. During the time in which SIVA was being developed, he was unaware of its development into what they knew was an unintended side effect. Once he learned of its nature as self replicating nanotechnology, he saw fit to seal it away within the his own defense systems even though it had the potential to overtake his own system. He gave it its first directive. "Lay Dormant, Still, and Survive." he said. Though over time, from I believe is throughout the entirety of the Taken King, the House of Devils saw fit to dig further into the remnants of the Cosmodrone. All whilst the Guardians dealt with the threat of Oryx. They could mine and extract all while being secretive about their true mission. Rasputin's defenses were stretched further out due to the Saber's Interference in the Vault which Zavala's team sealed after its destruction. What he and Rasputin failed to realize was that he also sealed the Devils in the vault as well, which have them no other opportunities to reach the surface so they went deeper in and found a weakened Replication Chamber. From then on is still something of a blur to me so I'll get back to you with the connection of the Iron Lords.

But it still remains how Saladin has mentioned many times that Rasputin has not been a Warmind for a long time and has desired to not allow another SIVA infestation to happen; Rasputin has gone beyond his duties as a Warmind, which was to secure humanity's future. The Iron lord's intentions to find SIVA were pure and honest, but all what Rasputin saw was just an unintentional threat to the human race. Even when we did the last story, why hasn't Rasputin interfered with us when we went to destroy the replication chamber like he did when the Iron Lords uncovered it in the first place??

Hope there will be some secret missions like Paradox quests, so we would have more direct information and graphical experience about SIVA and footsteps of Iron lords, especially of Felwinter. I believe Bungie has more solid potential in storytelling then putting just 5 original story missions :)
Agree, but it's unlikely. The game we know is on life support. 90% of Bungie's efforts are going into the sequel. FotL was very indicative of that. I expect a Spring update with a difficulty adjusted VoG and Crota's End, and a clean slate going into the sequel. Hell, they can't even be bothered to expand the vault, even though the legacy systems they blamed for its size are gone...
Now that Rasputin is active again he could give a new set of instructions to siva so it does protect humanity and destroy the forces of darkness getting humanity into a new golden age
And Booom savathun, tetrahedron ships, vex and xivu arath problems solved
Probably i exagerated a little bit but i mean siva is great as a weapon and Rasputin who is by our side can control it
