Thanks! I've been wondering about the difference between these two, this was helpful!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Great video. Thanks.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much for doing this, it's been hard to find information about the differences between these two pickups. Like some others, I'm curious how they would work on a nylon string. The NG-1 and NG-2 models for classical guitar are a lot more expensive than these, so I'm trying to decide between the AP-2 and UP-2... if anyone has tried one of them with nylon, curious to hear how it sounded for you! Thx again
Hello Edwin, how are you? Thanks for the comparison for the two pick-ups. I'm going to be using one of the two on an acoustic guitar with extra light steel strings. Is there anything you can say about the difference between the two pick-ups? They both sound pretty good, but just wondering if you might be able to give me some more specific information on how you think they might differ.
Thanks Edwin, and I really appreciate your time and concerns. ~Michael~
They are almost identical. I can't even say difference in the sound.
Very nice video! it seems to me that the up-2 sounds more naturale than the ap-2...with more mid frequencies than the ap-2....wich one would you recommend for nylon strings guitar?
thanks. For nylon classic guitars, they have a model called NG-1.
Thank you!
@@pardalessandro welcome
This variant - piezo technology isn’t new but still provides a more versatile result. The issue is that they are typically very mid-range heavy (feedback) regardless of the brand so you would need to scope the mid-lows and that will emphasize the lows and highs. Also, it doesn’t matter what version you get because they are both piezo with minor integrated frequency (EQ) tweaks. The JJB pickup is the same but with 3 round pickups that don’t actually have to be inside the guitar. Technically you can buy a JJB pickup, split the wiring and make 3 of these lol.
Curious if you ever got either the AP-2 or UP-2? I have a nylon string too, and the NG-1/NG-2 are out of my price range, so I'm trying to decide between AP and UP
Any idea if this will be different with nylon strings?
For nylon strings, they have better design for classic guitars, KNA NG-1.

@@AA-my1dw I got the ng-2 works really good. Having the little volume/gain control it’s great, if you don’t have a reliable person at the controls. It’s really delicate, so I’ve ended breaking it once, I did superglued and still works like nothing.
Thanks! To my ear the UP-2 sounded better. The volume control on the AP-2 sounded hinky to me.
thanks for sharing
@@Edwin-E You're welcome. (And thanks in large part to this video I ordered the UP-2. Much appreciation.)
Would it be a good idea to use it on a violin?
I am not sure about this model, but I know KNA has a pickup designed to be used for violin.
@@Edwin-E thanks!
