This 10 seconds animation are definitely gold. Sometimes youtube doesnt share it too much to others because it heavily based on data. Lets set and example. I have my 10 second animation of JJK animation while Another animator has 10 secs animation with insanely good animation is original. I have about 200k views on mine since JJK is popular and has been trending while my competitor didnt get as much. I also did this with a Dungeon Meshi 10 second fan animation and just got 1k views. It really depends on how many people are on the market for them to go see your product. If something is of course popular, There are definitely more audience.
I always hope these guys are like employees for big animation studios and get a great pay and the videos they put out is them on a month break and just wanting to do something to pass the time. Because all of these animations are just incredible and MUST have a price to it. They have to get paid for doing such amazing work.
Immaculate timing of this video, there was this insanely well done DB animated short thing I saw the other day called Dragon Ball Infinite: The Demo and it only had like 230 something views, shits tragic bro 😭
The large amount of views for the Maki genga are likely mostly due to the popularity of JJK. I remember being amazed by the fight on my first viewing and was happy to find the genga afterwards. It’s a shame that so many people are only able to find things through the popularity of what they represent rather than the talent of the individuals behind it. Every one of the animations showed here are magnificent, but most people who aren’t knowledgeable about animation and art can’t truly appreciate it. The foreshortening, dynamic angles, insane amounts of background animation, timing before impact, creative smears, sense of depth, shot composition, I can go on and on about how perfectly everything is crafted, yet most people may not see that. Most people just freak out seeing impact frames, and yes they are incredible in their own right, but there is so much that goes unnoticed to the untrained eye, where as you can’t really miss impact frames when they show up. But the fact that is the case says a lot about how we view things today. We live in a world where producers seek to expand the popularity of a franchise because people will be happy to see it regardless of how it may look, not noticing the shortcomings of what is shown. Meanwhile animators have to fight for extra deadlines and time because they understand what makes animation good. I hope that more people can come to understand the absolutely insane amount of work that goes into this, and I’m happy that this video is able to shed some light onto the situation.
Most people in this world only think of themselves, and once they have been where someone else has or worked in a specific thing (animation) they increasingly start to appreciate the work and effort it takes to be there, or do that...
Animations has always been underrated as hell on youtube- I remember when the platform first started to take off as an actual career path and there were TONS of animators who were trying to make it on the platform- mostly from places like Newgrounds- and they just couldn't compete with other genres of content, due to the time and effort that it took to put out just 1 animated video- meanwhile something like a blog could put out over 100 videos in the same timeframe, a shame really- most from that era have long since moved on.
I think if you goal is to make a career out of animation you likely won't find it being independent unless you have a group of friends willing to also help. RUclips for animation is good for sharing personal projects and works in order for someone to see it and hire you but your soul focus shouldn't be just youtube as an animator it should be spread out between multiple platforms if your goal is to be a professional animator. If it's to make it as a professional artist though there are quite a few ways to do it and gain a following on youtube (often results in teaching or goofy drawing ideas) but the thing with youtube is ya you gotta be consistent and even with new channels if you don't have a back log of videos people aren't going to be incentivised to subscribe given the lack of content. That's why if you plan on starting a youtube channel especially now it's better to launch it with about 20 videos already there so when someone goes to your channel they have more to watch and are more likely to subscribe. But in general artist are better off on platforms more mobile focused tik tok and Instagram and posting work on portfolio sites and making your own business around your art rather than just youtube as it's more tailored to personality and quantity and is just harder to get by with art alone. But you do still need to try and stand out. artist on youtube from what I've noticed tend to just get hired by other RUclipsrs to do things for them or get hired by companies for freelance or like i said end up doing some form of teaching
It's absurd how many great people just never get the attention they deserve. Instead, we get clickbaity trendhoppers, who attract viewers with numbers, "challenges" and deceitful practices (bonus points if they turn out to be a p-d-file and/or abuser), and frankly, those are getting tiring. I hope YT picks up on it, that it starts recommending more artistic and dedicated videos. You did a great job presenting the situation as is!

I hope a change in the algorithm pushes animations more and rewards those who don’t use the name of popular shows\characters but their own original stuff
Music kinda falls in this category too. Granted, people recognize music more often than animation. Like there are so many highly skilled musicians with their vocals and instrumentation yet don't get recognized as much as Ice Spice. (Going off from what I heard, she's not too great). Cowboy Bebop's playlist has some of the best bangers on there that has significantly less views than "Tank!", the anime's opening. Spokey Donkey is one that comes to mind. Rivals of Aether have a fantastic soundtrack as well but you don't hear anyone singing praises about that. Nevertheless, I used to be an animator on stick nodes (some free app that was puppet animation only at the time), trying to imitate Hyuns Dojo, Alan Becker, Darkboy Studios (underated as well) and got pretty decent at it, however, the hobby fell off the radar when school and lack of interest came in. I really want to get back into it tho. Sketching just doesn't hit the same as animating. Animating is such a time consuming job compared to composing a music piece. I write some works out in maybe an hour, even though it isn't the whole song but i have a solid base and idea of what im writing. Back when I was animating, an hour's worth of work in stick nodes was probably 3-5 seconds of animation. Again on stick nodes. I tried flip book (I forgot the name) which you had to draw your frames instead of using puppet animation, and I could only draw a ball bouncing with squash and stretch. Way harder. So seeing the examples you put up, I was like "man, these folks don't have millions of views?" There's bs 3am content that probably has more views than that animation playlist combined, which is the fortunate reality we have to live in. What makes this worse is the this video, (albeit a fantastic one) won't make a huge impact to the rest of the Internet, but it did make a huge impact to me, the animators behind the animations, your fans, and other lovers of animation too. Thanks for the video and reading my essay. God bless.
Yeah bro, you explained it perfectly! Music 100% is, same with editing, streaming, all the rest of it. But when it comes to workload *specifically* for creating a video that goes for 8 minutes, animation is by far the most work intensive, not even close
Honestly the vast majority of animators past some skill level are underrated as hell. In my ideal world animation should be a normal thing to be in art museums all around the world.
Faxes brother, im an animator and animation content often pops up on my rec. and I have seen some of the best animations getting like a few hundred or thousand views only, which is just sad
There certainly is a strange fall off when it comes to lesser known animators, but more than anything I appreciate the attention you are giving them and I am actually surprised by the amount of people I talk to who don´t realize how many hours go into stuff like this without it even being remotely close to finished, but then again I do understand that point of view because before I began animating I didn´t exactly realize it either. Either way, amazing video, keep it up!!!
9:25 Broo this person did the YaBoiRoshi Intro! So many skilled people in this video who haven't gotten the attention they deserve. Thank you for making this, it's really something that needs to be talked about and these artists need much more exposure.
I've been drawing for my hole life and I inspired to become a animator and I made a few animations. But with this much skill and talent that you show in this video makes me look and feel like a Eric sparrow. And that makes that I feel like a talentless hack.
Nah mate don't speak like that, everyones always learning, improving and adapting at different paces, telling yourself you're a hack will only slow yourself down!
you know the video on animation is gonna be good when the video pulls out Xenophoss right out of the gate (thank you Weilin Zhang your work is immaculate)
😂i love that these animators are finally getting some notoriety on their youtube work(with the exception of those like xenophos/Weilin zhang who are already working in the anime industry). 😂the joy i felt when i checked out your playlist to find I'd seen only 45% of it already. More W.I.P sakuga to binge🎉🎉🎉🎉
I am glad that you are spreading more underrated animations around here, and the first one def does deserve more love. Although its not super surprising that it already has a lot of traction. The animator for that sequence is weilin zhang, who is a very prolific animator within the animation industry and has worked on countless phenomenal scenes now. he has far more traction on something like twitter, with around 100K followers. Even though he still occasionally posts on youtube. Also, every other scene that was posted on his channel as an individual scene and not a sakuga complication was also his work. Like his work on one piece or the Charizard clip from pokemon.
and the fact that we dont have category like "animation"/"cartoons" we are put under "film & animation" is sad because that means we are competing with phographers and vloggers and stuff people who can easily pick up a phone and shoot whatever they want,,, whereas animation takes days or weeks making... its just so unfair
I had no idea, I never payed attention to the views on those But I’m glad someone like you mentioned it, cuz this will definitely help a bit with the underrated problem
Fun fact the genshin impact animation draft in this video from the RUclips channel - Kieru, the final version has over 4 millioj views now! Absolutely amazing work ❤
Im doing both 2d and 3d animation and storyboards in my channel. All my comments are loving it.. but there isnlike 300views on most of them. What i noticed is the color. People nowadays skip if its black and white so.. GG all.storyboards. rough animations. cleanups.
I think part of it is because youtube prioritizes consistency which animation is definitely harder to consistently put out as a solo artist/animator along with popular series will just generally do and perform better than a OC animation. Or if you target a specific niche market it will likely get more views than some popular stuff mainly because the audience is there for it like turning manga that don't have an anime into an anime will likely attract more attention. I think another part would be how are these creators promoting it and or sharing it compared to others and even using tags or titles end of the day i don't think they are creating the animations for views or subscribers because that's not what's important if anything these animations are good for people looking to hire them than anything or could just be a fun thing they did because why not
Hi! I also upload some of my animations to youtube so I know how frustrating can be RUclipss algorithm. Thank you for making this kind of videos and helping those marvelous artists have the recognition they deserve!
An aspect that i think it gets overlooked is the upload consistency ,animation is a really tedious and time costing field and even if you do really good work for professional studios but you post once every 5 months ,you most likely wont get lasting retention unless you are Yen-BM ,Vincest Chansard and Weilin Zhang level of quality that just attracts people to your work (and also what character you are animating matters a lot ,unfortunately )
I work in the industet, worked in a couple of marvel movies. I make both 3D and 2D animation.. My channel is invisible to algorhytm. Getting people to click a thumbnail is a different skillset, following trends etc.. Its so hard to do and animate at the same time since animation takes so much time.
Xenophoss is Weilin Zhang, which is one of the best animator right now. He’s the director of Heavenly Delusions and also took part on the storyboard of Jujutsu Kaisen S2 Episode 19 (Yes, he’s the brain/storyboard writer for the whole new cut on Bluray version of Sukuna vs Mahoraga). Is he underrated? On youtube totally yes, but in the animation world he’s like one of the biggest of today
glad you did a video on this its been bothering me for awhile my videos get a average of like 15 views but thats fine my channel is only for looking at my progress throughout the years but others deserve theres more a inspiration of mine is ian zhang and xenophoss but it takes years for there videos to reach 100k and meanwhile streamers are having like millions of fans and becoming rich by just playing games meanwhile animators get verly low wage that has a job thats work takes months or weeks to complete it pisses me off so much
Ross bringing animators into popularity with his star-power if you can call it that, the Vtubers do some of that too. The whole "*RUclipsr* animated" scene still produces some gems, BUT!!! RUclips keeps burying most of that, and those are REALLY UNDERRATED. I feel all that so much
Where am I bro😭 Just kidding, all of them are so much better than me, and thank you so much for talking about the missing attention for all of these Animators. Your animations also look great.
@fitzroyanimations You don't need to, I was just joking, I don't deserve to be next to the goats. They have so much more movement in their animation and are just overall on a completely different level.
Yo! I have a few words to say as someone whose a bit more into the community A lot of the people who post these animations aren't typically looking for a high view count. A lot of these animators simply use youtube as a way to share their content amongst each other, or simply as a public diary of their animations. I get the argument that they're underrated, because I think they are extremely underrated as well. But I think it's also important to acknowledge that most of the time these animators aren't making these as content, and most people on youtube are looking for more structured and complete videos. Many of the animators you've shown are also extremely well known within the animation scene. Xenophoss is a director for Jujutsu Kaisen (the most popular anime as of right now), and he has worked on many other influential IPs such as Naruto, Pokémon, Hades, Riot Games, etc. Many of the other animators you've shown have an extremely sizable portfolio as well. Even for the ones that don't have that portfolio, as of right now one of the best and most effective ways of getting into the animation industry is through posting your content online through RUclips or Twitter. While the views themselves might be low, the people whose feed these usually get pushed out too are the hiring team for many of these influential shows. I think a good comparison to this would be set designers for movies. I don't know the name of any set designers, and if they post any videos on youtube about their amazing sets I'm probably not going to watch it. But they also work on some of my favorite movies, and are probably really well known within the set designing community. Are they underrated simply because they don't get views on youtube? These are just my two cents as someone who knows a few of the people you've talked about in this video and also am actively engaged in the community. I think its dope that you're trying to get more people's eyes on a lot of these animators as well. Just wanted to share some of my thoughts. Keep up the content man :)
This is an awesome comment man, I was trying to research some of these people who are clearly in the animation space but couldn't find too much, it's so cool that a lot are directors and animators on some huge shows, that's awesome! And yeah totally get the reality that it's just an online platform to upload work to, without the intention of the general public watching it, the example of the set designers is a great point. I think an argument can be made for either side of "if they upload without intending to get views, can you call it under/overrated?" But obviously as you can see from this video I just kinda took a 2 dimensional approach for both clickbait purposes and making the video simpler and more digestible. Maybe I'll do a follow up video and delve into these topics because I agree with you wholeheartedly, this video was more of a clickbaity way to shed some light on some really cool animation Also as someone who's a bit more into the community, is there anything you can recommend me to look into? Like online communities and the like? Would love to get involved!
I have never come across your content until now- oh my God- the animation is absolutely stunning and- uh- hello??? why have I not come across you sooner? Thank you for giving all the recommendations to these people. ❤
I can't speak for everybody but with Crunchyroll and Netflix alone, I have more access to anime then I could ever want. So there's no need to ever watch an incompleete animation, regardless of how good it is unless you yourself are an animator, or a general fan of animation in particular, and not manga, anime, or animated games.
Those works would be more popular if they were more finished. They don't have to be final animation quality, but you shouldn't see background through characters. can't have frames with just dots for eyes beyond stylistic choices, etc. Only animation nerds like us can appreciate the raws. average normie is just going to see it like storyboards for the final animation. stick figures on a napkin. As evidence I point to the stick shit like nutshellanimations. Extremely popular among normies and incredibly simple. Everything is clear though. They stand on their own. Don't need to have been a fan of a full colored anime to get into it.
Here after watching all 58 videos. I'm hoping the youtube algorithm recognises it and recommends me more of these videos.

Thanks for including me in the video 🙏😁
Well done, you did the right thing making this video
Faxes brother, im an animator and animation content often pops up on my rec. and I have seen some of the best animations getting like a few hundred or thousand views only, which is just sad
As an aspiring animator...
I watch every single one on my fyp and observe the frames🙉
Honestly, the animations on these are so good, they can SKIP color and shading... Just give it sound and a good story. 😭
Exactly bro
Volta also did a bunch of stuff for SBFP back in the day, that was when they were called VoltaBass
thanks for making amazing art,and for being an amazing artist that shows off other great creators
YOOOWW YOU INCLUDED MINE TY 😭🔥🔥🔥🔥
9:25 Broo this person did the YaBoiRoshi Intro! So many skilled people in this video who haven't gotten the attention they deserve. Thank you for making this, it's really something that needs to be talked about and these artists need much more exposure.
People nowadays see manga pannels forcefully moving and say "hell yeah , omg you are so good " alan boweeee
😭so sad maybe because they don't have color on it cause i think most of the time some things with colorful works have more views
Don't know my yt were still exist, thx man, got my mood again to back upload on yt, Tysm
gravity rush intro music lets goooooooooooooooooo
Crazy to think that i have been an animator for 5 years aswell
More W.I.P sakuga to binge🎉🎉🎉🎉
gravity rush music finna make me float
the first anim you showed with 100k views was made by xenophoss, or weilin zhang. he currently does work as a freelancer on pokemon and boruto
It’s all been on my recommended. Glad people finally notice
On a serious note. Theres so many animation channels on this site that never reach more than 500 subs. Its not even funny.
and the fact that we dont have category like "animation"/"cartoons" we are put under "film & animation" is sad because that means we are competing with phographers and vloggers and stuff people who can easily pick up a phone and shoot whatever they want,,, whereas animation takes days or weeks making... its just so unfair
Yeah 'compete' is an interesting word cause yeah I guess we are inadvertently competing for peoples attention
@@fitzroyanimations weirdly don't know if we failing or the odds are just stacked against us
2:52 ngl i laughed when i learned he's the guy who made that Megamind meme
I had no idea, I never payed attention to the views on those
But I’m glad someone like you mentioned it, cuz this will definitely help a bit with the underrated problem
Fun fact the genshin impact animation draft in this video from the RUclips channel - Kieru, the final version has over 4 millioj views now! Absolutely amazing work ❤
Respect to all those animators
Im doing both 2d and 3d animation and storyboards in my channel. All my comments are loving it.. but there isnlike 300views on most of them.
What i noticed is the color. People nowadays skip if its black and white so..
GG all.storyboards. rough animations. cleanups.
YOU ARE SO REAL, these vids are my whole recommended! I love you for this!
I think another part would be how are these creators promoting it and or sharing it compared to others and even using tags or titles end of the day i don't think they are creating the animations for views or subscribers because that's not what's important if anything these animations are good for people looking to hire them than anything or could just be a fun thing they did because why not
Telepurte inspired me when he animated like every day for a year 🤯
Yeah, these are quite well drawn. enjoyed watching the clips .
Fearnly is underrated animationer bgl
Mann!! This is so underrated!
Hi! I also upload some of my animations to youtube so I know how frustrating can be RUclipss algorithm. Thank you for making this kind of videos and helping those marvelous artists have the recognition they deserve!
>The most underrated content on youtube
>The opening music is Gravity Rush
You sir is very based!
4:02 Last night i got a comment saying i was criminally underrated on my recent post 😂
when you see crazy shit like this you should know the rents due 😂. Crazy portfolios tho damn
Just subscribed to both You and VOLTA.
This stuff is insane!
Yo congrats on working on marvel stuff, that's pretty damn cool! Even crazier that you're invisible to the algo that's rough as
i dont think this guy knows how graphs work, but i agree
-edit: W hollow knight music in the bg
Volta also animated the opening for Maximilliandood's channel too.
Loving learning about him, already studying up on him
A Nutborn animation to family-friendly animation. So good animations with juicy works
glad you did a video on this its been bothering me for awhile my videos get a average of like 15 views but thats fine my channel is only for looking at my progress throughout the years but others deserve theres more a inspiration of mine is ian zhang and xenophoss but it takes years for there videos to reach 100k and meanwhile streamers are having like millions of fans and becoming rich by just playing games meanwhile animators get verly low wage that has a job thats work takes months or weeks to complete it pisses me off so much
Ross bringing animators into popularity with his star-power if you can call it that, the Vtubers do some of that too. The whole "*RUclipsr* animated" scene still produces some gems, BUT!!! RUclips keeps burying most of that, and those are REALLY UNDERRATED. I feel all that so much
Ross is a fucking legend love him
I want to become this skilled one day, I have so much to learn
fr
It always hurts when I see that they don’t upload anymore. Can’t blame them cuz of how long it takes.
all they gotta do is add gojo using his canonical abilities and it'll get like a million views
Where am I bro😭
Just kidding, all of them are so much better than me, and thank you so much for talking about the missing attention for all of these Animators. Your animations also look great.
Wait bro wtf where actually are you just went through your channel
I'll add you to the playlist my guy what injustice have I committed
@fitzroyanimations You don't need to, I was just joking, I don't deserve to be next to the goats. They have so much more movement in their animation and are just overall on a completely different level.
Nah bro you just need to add a little moving foreground and background and you'll get there, you is fire
Xenophoss is weiling zhang, he's a well known professional in the industry
As a novice animator, it's sad yet comforting to see that even far more better animators are struggling to get views. So it's not a me problem 😂
Make a playlist of those underrated videos.
So that we can loop them in the corner of our screen.
Description my guy
Holly shit, i have also been watching yeast. Those videos are great.
Yo! I have a few words to say as someone whose a bit more into the community
A lot of the people who post these animations aren't typically looking for a high view count.
Maybe I'll do a follow up video and delve into these topics because I agree with you wholeheartedly, this video was more of a clickbaity way to shed some light on some really cool animation
Also as someone who's a bit more into the community, is there anything you can recommend me to look into? Like online communities and the like? Would love to get involved!
I have never come across your content until now- oh my God- the animation is absolutely stunning and- uh- hello??? why have I not come across you sooner? Thank you for giving all the recommendations to these people. ❤
Aw shucks my dude, this is really sweet
I EXIST! WE ARE HERE!
Polished animation gets a lot of views and also the creator normally adds a behind the scenes video to make it longer
Very very true
damn this is underrated
I am ON it, im gonna watch theee fuc outta these
Those works would be more popular if they were more finished.
I like these fight animations more than those nsfw cartoons
