I hope Scott has found peace. But seriously, the DeLeo brothers rock! They and Eric have ALWAYS been the bones of STP, Weiland the flesh, per se, the skin. The bones remain. and they are sturdy and strong. good luck guys. love from your life long fan Joy. love you too Nikki!!!
Great interview, all bases covered...really nice!I wish the best for these guys they really deserve to be able to move on and have peace, stability, and more SUCCESS! They've been patient and worked very hard, it's also great to see town brothers working on their dream! Inspirational!
Love these guys. They are old school real deal. Must be incredibly frustrating to try and find a real creative high quality artist to work with..Wish them the best. Dean, you are a smoking guitar player brother!
I am so surprised that they didn't talk about Corabi and what it's like to replace a hard to replace frontman. Corabi was awesome, I thought. I also thought Chester did a really good job. I was really surprised at the reaction he got.
Hey, Nikki!! I was on local crew here at Perth Arena...it was cool to see that you got out and about for some photography and to pay Bon a visit whilst you were here; the same way I got to get out and about in Hollywood. My last visit to LA was for 3 weeks...."this (Perth) is MY town" ;)
Just listening to what Robert and Dean are talking about when it comes to a new lead singer makes me excited and nervous. Living on a prayer at the moment with my audition. I hope that the new lead singer criteria doesnt require absolute perfection. I try my best to sing to the best of my ability and pride myself with not using ANY vocal corrections. Just harmonies, reverb, and the occasionally echo. I dont want to submit my two covers to their site until I finish recording and mastering some of my originals. If they keep their word about listening to each and every submission, the impact will be more about the person, then just the vocals when it comes to submitting originals along with the covers. Ive heard some really great originals uploaded so far, and ive heard alot of submissions where people are overstepping the boundary from being a good singer, to correcting every single note to the point where it kinda starts to sound like autotune. But hopefully you guys will find the right person. Im just glad that I will be taking part, however small it may be, with this new chapter.
I'm quite sure they don't require perfection. listen to the Candles & Incense thing on their website and listen to Scott's vocals naked. It was nowhere NEAR perfect, and that's part of what made him so amazing. I wish I would have made a really effort to submit myself but I thought there was more time; I was busy practicing more to make my voice sound better and studying the songs. Oh well, I bet this means they have gotten some really awesome auditions and have likely gotten more than they expected. I kinda lost hope when I saw people putting all that crazy effort into it which I just didn't have the time to do, nor the equipment...I think this interview said it all, though, when they said they weren't looking for someone to copy. They are looking for the potential for chemistry, not perfection, not the exact copy. I wish everyone luck and I greatly look forward to what STP creates in the future. Keep your health up guys, I expect another decade minimum of awesome music!
I've said, the way to find a compatible member creatively - they should have a few hopefuls demo some lyrics and melodies to a few of their canned riffs. Yeah, it'll be done in a vacuum (without the influence of the band present) BUT it'll at least give them a sense of whats out there. Yes, I write- have for a long time. So I'd like to have a go at it. etc etc.. - Thanks :-)
Darling Phenylethylamine He lost most of his magic starting with the 3rd album. It was just a huge step down. Id that was the first album they released, they probably would have never become popular.
Travis Kraft --- Are you hard for grunge? The first two albums are great but Scott and the band really started to get their mojo from the third onwards. Shangri-La Dee Da is a beautiful album. And Scott's solo albums, particularly 12 Bar Blues - white magic!
Bear in mind that critically their first and second album weren't so well received, they weren't accepted or embraced by critics, but the third album was what proved them as a band with something more to offer. So Tiny Music pretty much assured them the success that they saw.
Nice to hear a interview that doesn't focus on the sad or negative past of STP. Well done!! Love these guys...

Journey made it happen. Hope STP can too.
I wonder if they are listening to the all songs in full duration.
