Indicators (will not kink line):
Fly fishing for trout, fly fishing for Cutthroat in the Pacific Northwest has been a passion of mine for the last 40 years. I have spent most of my life fly fishing the great Pacific Northwest to include fly fishing in Alaska, fly fishing in Washington, fly fishing in Oregon, fly fishing in Idaho and fly fishing in Montana. I generally will fly fish and practice catch and release when fly fishing for trout, but I have been known to catch and cook during camping trips to many of my favorite fishing spots. I love to fly fish lakes in the higher elevation, though I have a few lowland lakes that are fly fishing only that are also on my most favorite list. I have a ton experience fly fishing rivers for trout and always enjoy discovering new rivers to fly fishing in and around the greater Pacific Northwest. I am also an accomplished at casting a fly rod - whether it is fly fishing casting for distance, fly fishing casting for accuracy, the double haul, roll cast, tower cast and many more fly fishing casting techniques - I can show you the basics when it comes to casting a fly rod. I also will cover many topics that relate to getting started with fly fishing. From your basic fly fishing setups, flies and fly boxes - we cover all the fly fishing needs for beginners. Thanks for taking the time to tune into FlyFishDan and I hope you consider subscribing to my fly fishing channel. Cheers and FISH-ON!!!
I enjoy the Oros indicators. I only used them on a lake but I could actually see super good!
They really work great for all types of fishing - you could even probably use them for a standard hook and worm! :))
I tried one of these floats and the internal threads broke and rendered it useless in less than 5 casts. I love the design and when they fix this ill be excited again. The company is aware and is working to fix this and apparently its only on the large size
I haven't had that challenge - is it from over tightening or just use?
@@FlyFishDan it was its maiden voyage so not over use and im a fly fishermen so probably not over tightened lol maybe just a dud but it was a bummer. i live in alaska so getting some took like 2 weeks haha
Mine are better...just like the good ole days!
Lol - I am still awaiting the prototype my friend! :))
Fridays,Frosties, and Flies.
I love the oros
They will slide sometimes on small tippit
Great strike indicator
These could change your mind - never a sharp kink in the line after installation. Let me know what you think when you get your first set!
I grabbed a couple of OROS indicators last week to try out and I'm never using another indicator again. A truly great product. Well see how long they last considering the airlock ones are "biodegradable" whatever that means lol
I'm with you there too - these are certainly rock solid!
I haven’t lost a cap on the airlocks yet … yet. But I’ll definitely give these suspension devices a try
It’s a bobber bro
@@pnwfishingkid5123 haha 😂 I know I was making fun because someone on another video used that term. I like really?? Lol
They are rock solid - no more twists!
truly an anomaly
Another good one. Where is the beer?
Thank you! I know right?? Had to work late this Friday and didn't want to start the day off with a beer. Next week though...I have a brewery featured you'll want to know about!
I'm primarily (95% of the time) a wool indicator guy but started using Oros this past winter with my trout spey holding a split shot and three nymphs. LOVE them so much I gave all of my airlock style indicators to the local fly shop guides. I haven't had any issue with the Oros slipping and I use the smallest one the current will keep afloat. My only gripe is that these are $3 each, which is slightly more than a fly; so I don't know if I can say "gripe" with a straight face... I've been trying to think of a name for your Friday show, Dan, but the only other f-words that come to mind aren't good for your channel's good reputation 😉🙃
I too have made the change over to OROS and likely permanently. I like your idea about giving them away, I will probably do the same on my next guided trip. I think I might have settled on 'Fly Gear & Beers'...rolls off the tongue nicely :)) Thanks for watching Al!
I tried all over the internet to get them and finally i was able to order some. I haven't tried them yet but I'm heading up to Baxter state park in Maine on Saturday and i will try them there.
Fish on buddy!!
Nice! They are tough to find for sure! Looking forward to hearing what you think! Good luck fishing Saturday! Cheers and FISH-ON!!
Thanks Dan! Big thumbs up from me!
Thanks again!
Have you tried looping the line around one side of the internal post instead of just passing it straight through? That might help with slippage. Not sure if it would stress the line too much, however.
I haven't tried that yet - I'm afraid if it kinks the line, it will create a weak spot. I found if I take a moment to cinch it down tight enough, it won't slip. It's just a matter of me paying attention to that when I first attach it. Cheers!
Definitely kink up the line. I imagine the whole point of this indicator is to avoid kinking, not tangling which doesn't really happen if your rig is balanced
I bought some to try out haven't used them yet can't wait to use them
They are my new favorite strike indicator!
I’d like to try these if ai can find them but for me nothing beats a New Zealand Indicator
Hopefully you can try and find these online...the one great feature is that it doesn't leave a kink in the line after you take it off. Love that - saves leaders for sure.
@@FlyFishDan new Zealand style shouldn't kink either. On the other hand it's a bit more of a pain to set up
Another awesome video!
Thanks again!
Fly day Friday
I like that! :))
As a new angler, these bobbers are great. So easy to cast
Yes they are! Welcome to the sport!
How dare you call them Bobbers!!! They're strike indicators!! (you know, bobbers). 🤣🤣
Great tip. Thanks for the heads up. Tight lines. Cheers.
My pleasure - thanks for tuning in! Cheers!
Best thing since sliced bread
agree
Well said :))
I'm with ya too!
@@FlyFishDan used this indicator this morning, caught 5 wild rainbows! Go Cougs!
@@danielretherford sweet!! GO COUGS indeed!
