You dont see many people appreciating the mercury cougar xr7. I love the mercury cougar. I own two of them. One of them is a 95 and the other is a 97. Just a car that is underrated.
I love your car my dad passed 4 years ago and I got his 1997 XR7 IT ONLY had 72,456 miles on it to me the car is priceless I love it car run,s great. I'm going to get it painted soon jet black 🏁
Thanks for the video. I just bought one in a rather good condition. Here in Germany this is an absolute unique car, as they weren't available in Europe. I will have to put some money into it and I just hope that it won't be too expensive to get parts from the US to us. I am really looking forward to drive it and enjoy the feeling in this beautiful car.
I had a ‘97 XR7 4.6L V8, Toreador Red was the color. I lost it in 2014 - Slid on some black ice going down a hill. One of my favorite cars ever. I also had an ‘88 XR7: Monochrome Red, with the 5.0L. I put 300,000 miles on that one, before the overdrive went out. I sold it on to a Cougar enthusiast, who fixed it up, and it may still be on the road today.
I had. White 97 Cougar with the 4.6. It was possibly the best car I’ve ever owned. It was by far the most comfortable car I have ever driven and on the highway- it was fairly economical.
Cool to see a Cougar in such great condition so many ended up in bad ownership. I had a metallic dark green 97 XR-7 aside from my Town Car its been one the best car Ive ever had.
Bought one just like this when I was in the military for $1500 with 70K miles. Paint and chrome were a bit rough but engine was strong. Drove it from NC to Miami and back and also to NYC and back with no issues. Regrettably sold it when I got out of the military for close to what I bought it for. Miss that car at times.
just got one for 700 bucks. Mine is a 94 though. I fucking love it. the xr7 is underrated and so fun to drive. I do agree with you that its not a sports car, but damn the v8 sounds and feels so nice. Also I'm sorry about your father sir, and your sister. Great video man, rock on!
I bought a pretty clean 97 Thunderbird LX last September. V8, 88k miles on it. Can't wait until spring so I can fix the brake line and get it back on the road.
Sorry to hear about your father and your sisters. My first car was a 97 Cougar XR7. had just under 200k miles but it ran like a champ. It was fully loaded, Maroon paint job and had the Tan vinyl top and gold trimmings. I had to scrap it unfortunately cause the motor ended up losing compression and the frame was rotting badly at about 230k miles. (i live in michigan and salt destroys our cars). Mine didn't have the spoiler and i'm glad it didn't. What a wonderful car, it drove so well and smooth. It looked really good with HID headlights. I also had a security feature because i had rear defrosters. I would have to turn on the rear defrosters first to be able to start my cougar. My seats had the bolsters on either side that filled up with air, along with lumbar support. it really got up and went, too. i loved the speed of it. I hope to obtain another one and put some money into it and make a cool race car out of it. i wish i could post a picture of it on here. What i would do to own one of these again. i LOVE this vehicle.
Also had a '97 XR7 but V6 in dark green (I never knew which green was which, Alpine Green vs Arctic Green. I just called it a forest green). Drove it from 2001 (graduated high school) till 2008. Super reliable car, never had an issue with it mechanically. Super roomy and comfortable.
The v8s are a big recall the upper intake manifold has a flaw in the desine it is missing a section of the manifold that holds the gasket in place now its a simple fix for an advanced diy kind of person. I own a v6 97 cougar and love the car but the 8s are worth crap unless you have repaired this problem
I'm from Missouri too. I have a 97 Mercury Cougar 3.8 v6. I have put a lot of miles on it now. Mine is silver with leather and cloth seats. I have done a lot of work on it and is currently in the shop getting a torque converter put on. I go through brakes and rotors a lot. I live this type of body style. This is my 2nd Cougar. I had a Thunderbird before this one. I wish mine still looked so good.
This body style is as good as it gets, as close to owning a classic car as possible while leaving the issues that come with classic in the past imho cars aren't as cool anymore. Missouri-pride!!
Beautiful car! I've got a 1997 30th Anniversary edition Cougar that's been in my family since my mom bought it in 1997. It's my daily driver right now. Also, I loved the '83-'88 Cougar with the reversed quarter window. I wished they had done the same thing with the MN12 version. But I still love this car!
Wow! Touching man. I'm so glad you've got dad's car. Dad had one too.. maroon with red leather and the v6 .. so I grew up in love with 'car-y' the character my dad created by beeping the key fob in his pocket. I always loved the look and style of the car too. The head gasket went bad on his and it pretzel bent a piston rod. He rebuilt the engine with a friend. A very young me even helped. Years after it was hit bad. While parked in a lot. It was scrapped and dad bought a '97 t bird 4.6. once he found a lincoln LS I got the bird and it was a disater! I think it was a flood car shipped from down south. Rust under the carpet and electric bugs and shorty wiring everywhere. We replaced everything but the engine and I ended up selling it for $1k He passed 3 years ago (today is the actual anniversary).... I have been dreaming of finding a cougar like dad's (but with a v8) with low miles on it. And as fate would have it, I found one in wisconsin, it's got a 5.0 too! (Im metro detroit) I'm taking a train tomorrow morning and driving her 500+ miles home. I can't wait to be back in 'dads' cougar haha The memories and love that I have for this car mean a lot. I'm glad you have an affinity for them as well! Keep her clean and good luck with her!:)
I got my dads 97 cougar after he passed in 2018 and only had 72,k on it ,It how has 178000 and runs great black with gray leather interior I love the car wouldn't take nothing for it
My Father bought a 85 Cougar brand new, no miles. He passed in 2007 and I inherited the car. Original paint looked like it had never been sat in. He took immaculate care of his 85. The clock just hit 125000. And I keep her in the garage. Great cars. You’ve got a great story. And you’re right I wouldn’t trade it for nothin’
+richdome1 Thanks. Very nice. Ive always been a fan of driving the cars you love instead preserving them in bubble wrap. Ive even had cars over 250k. Please subscribe to get future videos. Working on an additional Cougar one right now.
I just purchased a 1997 30TH Cougar from Copart in Dallas, Texas. It has a clear title and only 68,000 miles. A little compression in the sheet metal behind the driver's door is the only damage. It has the 4.6 V8 and matches the Cougar I took pictures of in 1997 in Cerritos, California when I first saw them. That car was in the inventory of Cerritos Ford, across the street from where I worked at Browning Oldsmobile. This vehicle was originally from Bellflower, California
I have one right now that ive totally rebuilt the block and crank only have 45k miles on it. As for the transmission ive lost 4th. I love this car and now have to get a new transmission to match up with the shiny new crank and block. I want this car to last me forever...
+Itz Flaws Can it actually be a business card with no phone number, email address, or street address? And since im not making any money, can it even be considered a business. And since i dont go to your HS you might ask your classmates how it got there. Have a nice Bulldog day.

I like the ride. Its a very comfortable car. I like that I drive a car that you don't see very often and it gets noticed a lot.

I drove a white '97 Cougar XR7! I so enjoyed that car for 6.5 years!
I got a 97 xr7, 4.6 mint condition prairie tan currently driving registered and inspected! And it dusts anything on the streets of Pennsylvania.
I had. White 97 Cougar with the 4.6. It was possibly the best car I’ve ever owned. It was by far the most comfortable car I have ever driven and on the highway- it was fairly economical.
We have the same car there great.

Thank for sharing your life with us.
I have an 05 grand marquis that I want to chop up into a cougar, this video confirms my desire.
So awesome that you have pawpaw's car and even mentioned driving it to Newport News for mom's funeral.

I Have a 1994 mercury cougar xr7 4.6 this car has almost 275 .000 miles on it , it runs like a new one. This car never major problems.10 out of 10
good to hear, I just bought one in great shape with 112k miles. I had an 85 Cougar and loved it.
I dont know what's better. The story behind the car, the way you tell the story, or the car in general! God Bless you and your family
Thanks Paul. I havent been on the channel for many months due to a tragedy and many other reasons
Cheers.

Not all xrs got spoiler I had maroon one with v8 but not the sport. Favorite car I ever had.
Kind of a shame.. the '94 5.0 V8 Cougar was a better car than the '94 with the 4.6 V8.
I had a 96 bright red, I am looking for one same one
They are so comfortable.

great car
ALL cougars were XR7s beginning with '93 model year. At that point there was no longer any sport model or higher model. Engine was irrelevant.
Can it fit 6'1 tall man and his girl who's about 5'8?
Are u selling it?
Jaybus are you ever going to drive it or just blather on ?
And how many times are you going to say boulevard cruiser??
Swapping engine with mustang
Would you look at that car sir
Haha i got one
