- Well here it is! I finally got my chance to fly on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Houston to Newark, New Jersey. I got the chance to meet a lot of nice people and spent a lot of time with the cabin crew which got to know me and my two friends that were with me by name. The aircraft was magnificent and handled turbulence like a boss. The one snafu however was we eventually ended up departing three hours late due to the cockpit door having a non secure indicator light. Once we got going it was a smooth flight.
The aircraft was N26906, the second 787 for United and the 77th built
You gotta love how the wing comes alive in mid air
Love the flaperon. Just like the 767.
sooooooo shiny
Although I dont know anything about aeronautics I am honestly amazed by the elegance of this wing design.
What a sleek, beautiful machine the 787 is !
i wish more planes looked this good!
This plane has the coolest most modern looking wing ever. Also I love the huge display panels in the flight deck, as seen on other videos. Having the flight info displayed on such large screens, "especially the inclinometer" makes it so much safer and easier for the crew to see it. I'm sure it's a real pleasure to fly the 787, for a pilot that flies one. I know this plane has had some issues that has made the headlines recently, but
I know Boeing will resolve them all. The 787 will rule.
Thanks for posting this video. I enjoy watching these aircraft videos especially by Boeing. I am glad to see the 787.
Very well done!
Thats soo cool luv it
Not sure which was more beautiful....seeing the wing flex like that, or the gorgeous clouds above you as you took off! Wonderful video.
Really clean!!
I love that flaperon just aft of the engine
WOW! Great Job! Loved to see the wing flex like that. I've not had the chance to ride the 787 yet. Nice video!!
It's very quiet except for the damn hydrolic pump that was deafening on takeoff and landing. Go check out my landing video and you can hear the difference between on and off.
The Wing is so flattering
Wow, great video!
look at that shiny new paint
Awesome vid Jordan...
I had a chance to do a walk-around with the 787 pilots in IAH on Halloween several days before it went into service, one of the first people at the company get my but imprinted onto the F/Os seat ;)
This aircraft might have it's problems but look at the bright side atleast they show up early so they can be located and fixed, it might for all we know turn out to be one of the worlds most reliable aircraft, i think the design it self both in the A 350 and the Dreamliner are amazing man the wings are a pure artwork
Wow, this is amazing.:)
+Quy Dinh no, what i do is amazing !
787's are the best
The most beautiful wing so far on a jetliner!
I've flown this plane 6 times on the Denver -Tokyo route!!! Sweet!!!
Very cool... just like wings of a bird.... looking more and more animated :D
Amazing to see United with anything other than P&W engines on their planes...nice that they are buying GE's for this one.
There have been several cases, so that should be enough to be worried.
united should get the long range 777 models
I was on a 787 from LAX to SYD, amazing experience :D
Good video any way.
Nice video
787-8 Dreamliners, the world's first commercial aircraft with a body and wings made largely of lightweight carbon-composite materials instead of aluminum
Clean enough to be grounded
love them brandy new..........must smell great inside too like a new car. wish her all the luck. was a little skeptical at first with the battery fires. nice looking plane. should be a little longer in length though.
very nice I subscribe !
Shoot most of those that are near the airport or scare them with a lazer or sounds, maybe sounds from their enemies. Maybe combination of several things- its worth trying.
Great video!! Nice departure! Greetings from Israel!
I T shalom
Yes thats correct, i was thinking the same several years ago and thought they soon would use lasers to get rid of the birds.
That inboard flaperon was very busy. Never seen anything like that before.
This is very true! Remember when the A380 first came out? An engine fell off of a Quantas during mid-flight. Stuff happens :p
On the 787 the ailerons don't move because of the wingflex (I think...), that little flap on the middle of the wing is moving instead.
Perfeito!!!
Well it did go into service the day before... XP
Please read FAA Part 91.21 subsection C:
(c) In the case of an aircraft operated by a holder of an air carrier operating certificate or an operating certificate, the determination required by paragraph (b)(5) of this section shall be made by that operator of the aircraft on which the particular device is to be used. In the case of other aircraft, the determination may be made by the pilot in command or other operator of the aircraft.
I had pilot permission, so no rules broken...
Wow..as if the wings were springloaded. Probably why it absorbs and dampens turbulence so well. I flew the A380 earlier this month and turbulence over the pacific was horrible. There were two times I thought we were all going to die.
I work at IAH and almost everyday i go and see all their 787's parked and scattered in various places around the east cargo ramp at IAH, so sad to see them just sitting there. Hope they get the problems with this airplane fixed soon.
Its not crosswind because he wasn't going fast enough, but hydraulics makes sense, that's probably what it is, thanks.
From United Hub Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas to United Hub Newark, New Jersey.
Nice Vid, I cant wait to hear what was causing the battery fires...perhaps cooling..regards Ron
very nice...the wingflex really is amazing..what camera do you use, by the way?
Thans a vers clean and shiny wing haha
Wow! Cool! I can't wait to fly on one!!! Was it quiet? It sounds very quiet!
it is not a flap it is inboard aileron which also acts as a flap
I just sraight out asked the captain at the gate, he was cool with it.
wow
Bank angle - bank angle!
so this is something you don't see every day
The 787 wing was designed from the larger 777-300ER 777-200LR which has the longest range for an aircraft
The displacement of flight controls during the takeoff was to counter an apparent crosswind.
Eeerrrrrhhhh *snap*
Could someone please explain to me why the ailerons go down and up during take off?
Minor adjustments by the crew.
that is true, so the a/c wont lean on one side during the t/o roll
The fuel leak problem was fixed. It's the battery fire that grounded the aircraft... All new aircraft have their problems.
Nice video! Is the pilot checking the flight controls during the take off run? Weird
That's downtown Houston, about 20 miles to the south of the airport.
Boeing made this airplane for it's wings to react like this during takeoff with fast wind. The wing fles is totally normal.
Which Skyline is it far away in the background ? Looks very nice :)
I've recently heard that the 787 fleet was grounded
Is that it´s maiden flight?? Look at the painting, bro!
Lovely to see the contrails and Contrail-cirrus above the low cumulus clouds and knowing that with ever increasing aircraft flying for longer range, these tonnes per hour, kerosene Burning jets, will be taking all life on this thin atmosphered planet on a frozen Acid-Rain Climate Changing Cloud of Combustion (contrail-Cirrus) Non-Stop to the End of the Earth.
I did not hear engines rumbling on the back of the dreamliner like other plane do. That was just like as the a380 engine sound taking off at he front (inside wiew). Unbelievable
The 787 has special engines for noise reduction and they are lighter than regular engines. That's why they look so weird..
To be fair, it blew up, not fell off. And it also has the curse of RR... :X
Very good video. The Engine footprint is almost nonexistant and I can barely hear pressurization as you acsend. Thanks for sharing.
Yea so as the wings get airflow it keeps the airplane balanced as it takes off.
Is it really that quiet, like it sounds( comparison, before and during takeoff)?
maybe he was testing the hydraulics
The carbon fibers proved in tests to be more durable than aluminum. Part of the reason is the ability to flex. Hard metal does not do well with the stretching, bending and vigorous needs of commercial air travel.
He was turning to the first waypoint of the flight
how come the ailerons barely move when you turn?
Absolutely normal.
Why that thing at the take off goes down, up and stand in the correct possition??
I'm very young and know a ton about aircraft
Compare the begining of the video to the end of the video and you will notice a big difference compared to other aircraft.
Actually IAH(Houston Bush Intercontinental) to EWR (Newark)
There going to have to inspect these good if their going to be successful and not have anymore problems
Canon EOS 550D (Rebel T2i) set in manual mode with the stock 17-55mm lens
AWESOME!
Brilliant quality.....subscribe! ;-)
I'm a 75000 looker ;)
it is carbon fiber reinforced plastic, or CFRP
It will be implemented later.
its brand spankin new
The 787 is change for change's sake. Forget this flexy wobbly loo, just wait until the airframe gets a little age on it, those plastic wings are going to snap right off in cold weather, and without warning.
Which panel?
Are they flying again?
why does the panel move during the takeoff roll? non-boeing expert here.
Weird flex but ok
amazing innit, I was wathign teh a350 take off and It didnt look to have as much wing flex as this one
is United putting channel 9 on the 787?
Not at all, its all in the fun!
