That chimes is typical of Kienzle. It’s the most beautiful sound, to me, that you can find in a clock. I love that the strike of the hours is on a single note, low and somehow austere. Thanks for sharing!
I actually have not heard many Kienzle wall clocks with this lower-pitched set of chimes. Most others I've encountered are slightly higher in tone, and have a four-note chorded hour strike. I think I do prefer this one though... It's much more rich and sonorous, and that bell-like strike is absolutely fantastic! Sadly I haven't been running the clock for the last while... It does run, but the movement is extremely dusty, and I'm reluctant to fully disassemble it for cleaning myself, as I'm not sure I'd be able to put it all back together the same way again. Hopefully some time in the not too distant future I can find somewhere I can take it to for a thorough cleaning.
Kienzle is pronounced "KEEN-ZLE" Not "Kins-La" fyi. But very nice clock and they are super well made, like my art deco one which is ironically getting repaired.
