How to Connect the Xbox One S to a VGA Computer Monitor or VGA TV

Hi, this video shows you how to use the Xbox One S Console on an old VGA Monitor without any HDMI ports (Original Xbox One will work the same as the Xbox One S). This same setup will apply to old Televisions without HDMI ports but on the TV you will not need separate speakers as the TV will have speakers built in already (unlike my old monitor) but you may need a long 3.5mm stereo lead or a 3.5mm to twin phono (red and white RCA connectors) depending on the Audio Inputs on your TV.
The picture is perfectly acceptable as on my old monitor it is outputting 720P (HD Ready) but your monitor may well be capable of 1080P(Full HD). It will not be as good as using a HDMI cable on a Full HD TV because using VGA is an analog signal rather than the better digital signal but is definitely usable.

instead of what Vince recommends just for an extra option if you don't have a bag3 cable,instead of buying a vga cable and this adapter you could use female hdmi to male cya as then you plug the xbox hdmi from your xbox to this adapter and the plug the adapter into you moniter this eliminates extra cable and the adapter is hidden behind the tv instead of hanging down

Thanks for your help, it did not work initially and said out of range, by holding the xbox button and eject button at the same time the xbox booted in 640x480 and later changed the resolution to 720p and it works fine now..

What if that doesn't work? I bought an acer monitor off newegg about 4 months ago, is a vga connection. I bought a whole new cable that has vga on the monitor end and hdmi on the xbox one end. Isn't working. Monitor also doesn't have any settings buttons or knobs. I'm at a loss.

I know im late but if you have a headset for your controller sound will be heard through the headset and if you connect a speaker to your controller it wilk also work
